My boss rented a boat just like this for a corporate event and it was a huge hit! Tips: Fishing poles are provided but let them know about fishing in advance so the best bait can be supplied. There's an emergency bathroom on the boat but a better bathroom to use is at the marina and he's able to make stops. Let him know before you get on if you want to swim and he'll take you to a great swimming spot. I use a floaty in the water because I get nervous and it was fine. The boat fits comfortably four adult guests and five if one guest is a child. The boat ride was quite relaxing. We stayed in the river and only ventured into Saco Bay once Captain Joe determined it was going to be a comfortable for everyone.

The captain and staff were extremely kind and supportive of our group. They were helpful as we got things situated, accommodating our need for ice and getting it for us before we left. Once on the water, we put our music on and had a great time. We brought all our food on and enjoyed brunch, mimosas, and beautiful weather. The boat ride itself was smooth despite some choppy waters. Captain John has a route that he follows but is always willing to veer off that path if there's something at sea that might be cool for the passengers to see. Last night, we had the pleasure of seeing minke whales and harbor porpoises. Captain John made followed the path of the whale and slowed down so all could see. On the beautiful sunny day following the Memorial Day weekend my partner and I and two guests had…read morethe pleasure of taking a two hour cruise on Captain Jon's classic Down East, a 25 foot fiberglass inboard boat with ample room for six.  The trip was fantastic! I have vacationed in Portsmouth on the bank of the Piscataqua River for twenty years but until my boat excursion with Captain Jon had never seen the historic sites, forts, prison, coast guard stations, retired rescue station, from the water view nor the beauty and elegance of Sagamore Creek off New Castle Island and the historic light houses. We were so close they felt alive. Jon told me that indeed they were alive, fully automated, and functional and still directing ships of all sizes and types from around the world safely into Portsmouth's exciting and scenic harbor. We also learned a bit of basic rules applying to navigational buoys. The boat was very comfortable and had seating under a sunscreen as well as a comfortable cabin and head.  The beauty of the shoreline was matched by the magnificence of the animals we saw up close; five lobsters, retrieved from two of his private lobster pots-four just a bit under size for keeping land one large one covered with caviar like eggs on its bottom. The five of them were returned to their home thirty feet below the boat to grow and propagate. Diving and dining cormorants and a majestic bald eagle flying close to the boat were the visual desert. The beauty of the sites was matched by the enlightening narrative that Jon provided, both of the shoreline's features, lobster biology, and maritime history and folklore.  My summary: Two hours of visual delight, learning, fun and a bit of Maine gossip.  My recommendation: Five stars-the highest possible.  Bob Levine

She searched for things to do and found this tour and I am sure glad she did. We did the biking tour with Don and it was wonderful. Was able to taste some local mead, beer, and rum and see parts of Portland. He was extremely friendly, fun, and informative. I am not going to lie...I was a little bummed when my wife said she booked this tour instead of the earlier biking brewery tour (visit 3 local brewery's as opposed to our scheduled mead, beer, and rum tour). But it didn't matter, it was a amazing experience. In fact, our guide pointed out man local establishments on the tour that we tried the next day (cough..cough..Forage Market) and was amazed; it truly added to our Portland experience. And we have a tour for the next time we come. All in all...6 out of 5 stars for this organization.
