The oil in the kitchen fryer rarely, if ever, gets changed. So your seafood tastes like whatever was cooked before it (like french fries, etc.) Also, the short little bartender behind the bar has a Napoleon complex and is a real . . . . (well, you can fill in the blank for yourself). read more

We were in a party of 8 on Thursday night 12-21-23. The place was packed, and only 2 people up front taking the orders, delivering the food, and running the bar. Yes we had to wait a little because of this, but they did an amazing job considering the volume of people they served. Food was amazing as always. Fast, attentive service, good drinks, great finger steaks. They had clam chowder on Friday which was popular. I enjoyed my time here.

Just a little dive bar with dive food. Everything was dusty. Clearly everything was from a package. The bartender was also our server and almost didn't let me bring my own water bottle in. He was clearly annoyed at the questions about how certain things we were interested in were served, even commenting that we had "all the questions." Hubby got a French dip, which was actually not bad, but the jalapeno poppers were the kind you buy in the box in the freezer section, i al the fried pickles (which just say "pickles" on the menu - even though when I asked, the guy laughed at me and said "that's why they say "fried" pickles" - and I had to show him that wasn't the case, which was why I was confirming my suspicions. The food is bar food - but, good. I had a fried chicken salad and enjoyed it. The atmosphere is family like and people are known by first name - which I loved. The service is quick and staff are kind and accommodating. You are never without. Would recommend. read more

We went there for dinner and waited and waited as they walked by us ignoring us. When finally the bald guy asked us if we wanted something to drink, very rudely, My husband asked him if he always treats his customers like that. I would give 0 if I could never been treated so poorly in my life spent 150$ bought peoples dinner and drinks. Finger Steaks and Planks ...... a pitcher of your favorite domestic beer. Americana at it's finest !!! You need not say anymore about the Cove.... but lets try .... A low ceiling complete with a thatched roof ... A fine smoke filled atmosphere with plenty of locals having a great time .. a corner jukebox playing your favorite or someone's favorite tunes all at a quater $.25 a time. Well, actually inflation has struck and it is 3 tunes for a bill. So dark you have to look for a while to see the tables and bar. Great fake Pacific Island decorations .... sets you right at home in Idaho ... Nestled in Twin Falls on highway 93 from Nevada on the way to SunValley where you are headed for a weekend of skiing it is must stop ....... it is advertised as "World Famous" Really - the food is amazing - the beer is cold - the service is great and the waitress are friendly (acting) a little appetizer basket of cerely and carrot sticks ..... Fingersteaks and planks ( made from huge Idaho potatoes) Piglets and planks ( you get about two whole potatoes wedged ) All in your own littlke plastic basket with a paper wrapper in the bottom - to hold the fry suace you are going to drown the planks with. The Cove is a must stop for us every time we visit Twin. They are famous for their finger steaks but the cheese burgers are great too and go great with the icy cold beer. The service is always fast and friendly. Another plus is the high quality live music. Not what you'd expect from such a small place but I have been consistently impressed with the amazing local musicians. I highly recommend The Cove for drinks or food. Make sure you don't miss the live music; I think they even do an open mic night on Tuesday night for local amateurs. read more

I have gone to the cove for the last 5 years, not often, but every time we did, we enjoyed the food and drinks. Tonight however, we got together for a friend's birthday and from the get go experienced horrible service. When we asked for a drink we were responded with "hold on" or "wait". And as sad as this is to say, when looking around our table I realized all of us are Hispanic. Later on, the cook him self and one of the other workers started saying racial slur and comments towards us. And once someone in our group tried to say anything, he instantly got kicked out. I was born and raised in Idaho and never before have I experienced racism until tonight. Never will we go back. read more

Ordered lunch and had to get a magnifying glass to find my food. Ordered finger steaks and there were 3 finger steaks and about 10 fries. Suggest going there to eat maybe portions are a little bigger?? Love the food but seems like the to go orders are pretty skimpy. read more

The food is great especially the finger-steaks, the problem is that the smoking is so bad in there that to even pick up food to go you walk out smelling horrible. If you can get past the smoke then you will love the food. It is also incredibly dark. read more

The atmosphere here was great. The employees were friendly and welcoming. The bar was clean and appealing to the eye. I ordered a few special drinks they had and absolutely loved them talk about delicious. I'm not much of a drinker so to find something I like is a work of art. Rude and dirty! Waitress was unfriendly, aggressive, and extremely trashy. When we talked to the manager, he was rude and dismissive! Never have we been treated this poorly-- clearly they don't care about their reputation or business (which explains why it's terrible on all accounts). I was so excited to take my husband to the Cove because I loved it so much years ago. I ordered a fish sandwich and salad. In their defense I think they had a new cook, but when I got my food the piece of fish was so tiny I had to cut it up and spread it out so it would almost cover half the bun. I was disappointed that I only ended up with half a sandwich...and also still hungry. I was two bites into my salad when I bit into a rock...an actual rock. I showed the waitress the rock, but she did nothing. She also didn't seem to care that there was half a bun sandwich sitting on my plate. In a nutshell, I paid full price for about 4 bites of food. I've read all the reviews and I thought I would just stop in to check it out. First off I would like to say I'm so glad that they have changed it to non-smoking. And if you do smoke they have a nice area outside under a canopy with a fire pit and a heater to keep you nice and warm while you enjoy your beverage in the coldness I found the food to be really good the service to be very very friendly and The drinks were strong and very reasonably priced. We have been customers for 35+ years. Tonight my husband & I decided to have a quiet pre-Valentines Day dinner. We arrived around 5:30, and happened to sit next to a table of men who became very drunk, loud and boisterous. After receiving our meal...which was so-so the waitress stopped by to check on us. We told her we couldn't even hear ourselves talk due to the table of men next to us. Her response was..."Not sure what I can do about it since they've been here since I came to work." Needless to say, we left as soon as we could and will not be returning.ever. read more

The Bartender was very good and nice. The rest of my experience was wasn't the greatest if i am being honest. It is to dark, probably from all the regulars coming to drown out there problems. The cook was sitting next to me smoking then finally got up to cook my order, i don't mind smoking but i don't think the Chef should be at the bar smoking (just seems unprofessional to me is all)... I had two ex-Hippies (I know this because they openly talked about there glory days) sit next to me and that just make me sitting there drinking my beer even more awkward(Not the bars fault but regulars can drive customers out very easily). On the positive side if you can handle the regulars and the dim lighting, the finger steaks were actually very good but I don't think I will be making a trip back there anytime soon. I just wouldn't pick this as a first date or bring the kids. ( i revised this post, to give the bar more of a honest review and not a bashing) read more

Hubby and I are 22. Went in to have a few drinks and maybe something to eat but, alas, we didn't get that far. We were harassed by the regulars there who were older and way drunk at like 10pm. We just wanted to have a good time but they just kept telling us that we looked 12 years old and to go to McDonald's down the street. It was almost bullying because we could have no peace to enjoy ourselves. We didn't have a chance to try to food, or drink so I can't rate this lower but just because this place is full of alcy's who can't control themselves, I am turned away from it read more

Just as described in the other review. Great tropic decor. Went to eat there on Tuesday 3/3/09. Tried it out for lunch and had the Alaskan Halibut and home made fries. They were great. Lots of selections on the menu. Went back later for dinner with a friend to enjoy live music and another great meal of finger steaks and planks. They were great also. The place filled up by 10:30pm with lots of locals having a good time. The waitress was friendly and attentive. read more
