This is a shockingly complacent place, which seems to be surviving on its regular clientele of old ladies. Maybe when we visited in July 2016, they were having an off day, but sadly I suspect not. We ordered, eventually, a cheese and tomato sandwich, two paninis and a jacket potato with tuna and mayonnaise. This, one would have thought, would be uncomplicated enough for mid-day in a town centre establishment. After some time (maybe 10 or so minutes), the cheese and tomato sandwich arrived. It was distinctly underwhelming, especially at £4.50. In addition, the waitress told us that all the paninis were 'frozen' and asked if we would like anything else (how it had taken so long to work this out is a question in itself). We opted for toasted sandwiches I think. Some while later, another person arrived to inform us that they had 'run out of potatoes'. I actually laughed. We asked for our money back and went to a bakery across the road (I forget the name of the place, but it was infinitely better - they actually seemed to want our custom and the food was far more palatable). Anyway, if you fancy paying quite a lot for a distinctly average drink and are in the mood for a game of 'order roulette' in downtown Prestatyn, The Courtyard is the place for you. Otherwise, it isn't. read more
