This place definitely needs some sprucing up & deep cleaning. The stairs are failing apart & are definitely a fall hazard. The bedroom has lights that didn't turn on, so I felt like I was in a dungeon. The wash cloths are thin as if they came from Dollar Tree & there was hair all on them as well as everywhere else. Ugh!!! There was blood on the wall. The towel rack in the bathroom was broken off half way & the shower door would not stay closed. It just kept sliding open during our showers & no matter how many times we closed it, it would just open back up. The staff wasn't overly friendly. They weren't the worst though. There is a microwave and mini fridge in the room. The pool is closed. There are several restaurants nearby & Texas Roadhouse is right next door. I'm never coming back here. I felt dirty the whole time I was in my room due to the amount of hair all over the place. That simply grosses me out.

This place was okay. Rooms were decent and clean, they had a big and heated pool, a hot tub (or tub, as it was not heated but they were "working on it") and a fitness room with a few machines and weights. Plenty of parking. There's a nearby shopping plaza for groceries and a few restaurants and fast foods within that area, but none of them were breakfast-serving places. Stayed here 3 nights and the trash never got emptied, so by the end there was quite a pile by the 2 teeny tiny trash cans. On the last night, we were about to leave as housekeeping arrived, so we asked them to come back in 5 minutes, left, and when we returned they just skipped the room instead of coming back. As a bit of a neat freak, it's disheartening to come back to a messy room when part of what I'm paying for is housekeeping. We had to go to front desk to ask for new shampoos/cups since a tiny bottle doesn't last 2 people for 3 nights but they refilled nothing. I would have given it a 5 on amenities if it hadn't been for multiple nights of getting no service. If you are coming for 1 night, you won't have to deal with that issue.

This hotel has a very sophisticated and classy look when you approach the entrance. The decor in the lobby is very upscale, hip. The lobby is tastefully decorated to recognize breast cancer month and Halloween. Marriott team we name is September member at the front desk, very professional and provided a superb efficient accurate check-in. The hotel smells great the hotel has a lot of boutique hotel touches. The rooms are very modern I love the numerous outlets (USB) with lamps and the hard floors not carpet! Hotel is exceptionally clean, The rooms the public areas and they serve breakfast in the morning.

Most affordable weekend rate in the area; some upgrades but still a lot needed some work; killed some type of bug near the bathroom; bed sinks when you sit on it; bedding looks dingy; ink marks on the comforter; water spurted out blackish/ grayish, yellow from the sink; the shower door didn't close so we had to put out foot there; and breakfast is not included

For a Marriot hotel, I highly suggest finding a different spot to crash. This hotel is hidden from the main street and just overall unimpressive. Service is slow and lacking. Rooms are carpet-less and cold. Beds are less than average for comfort. Outdoor areas are unkept and messy. The café area is expensive and really lacking any type of qualitative caffeine beverages. The lobby is always busy with other patrons/guest who are almost rude to each other. And worst of all, the Wi-Fi is awful. This hotel is also about 20 to 25 mins from any military bases depending on traffic. There are multiple other hotels in the immediate area that are better looking and better maintained.

Staff is nice. Rooms are disgusting and smell. Already changed rooms once and my ceiling still looks wet. Carpet isn't clean. Elevator gross.

Absolutely the worst--and most unprofessional--hotel experience I have ever had at any Marriott property. Avoid this Courtyard at all costs.

Front desk was friendly and texted when our room was ready to check-in, around 1:00pm, which was great. Our room and bathroom were clean (shower, toilet, sink), comfortable bed and pillows, great balcony view as advertised, and a TV, coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. These came in handy, as my little one is always hungry for snacks throughout the day, so we saved money on heating up some microwaveable Mac and cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, etc. for lunches. Also, hot popcorn on the balcony at night was lovely. The pool and grounds are very pretty; think Magnolia trees, crepe Myrtles, wrought iron chairs and a gazebo. My little one enjoyed the pool both evenings before our awesome dinners at Yorktown Pub (a York County institution). Pool towels are available, too. We met the owners, who live on the property, and they couldn't have been more pleasant; very personable people. The complimentary breakfast was perfect for us, too. English muffins, bagels, pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, etc., exactly what we needed to start each day. The lobby is beautifully redone, and the owner said that's their vision for the rest of the hotel. I was a bit apprehensive reading some bad reviews, but it was exactly what we wanted and we had a great stay. I look forward to going back and seeing how the rest of the renovations turn out. Also, as the only hotel on the water there, their prices are totally fair. You can walk to everything, have a parking spot, and again, a beautiful view. Don't let the bad reviews fool you; it's a lovely hotel.

The hotel has been my regular go-to whenever I visit Yorktown, going on for about 10 years now. The amenities and the reasonable price make a difference. There's an indoor pool, a hot buffet breakfast included in the price of the room, there's wi-fi, a decent fitness center, and a functioning business center. Under Hilton's reservation system I was able to select my room the day before I arrived and was able to use Hilton's app to download the key to my room a couple of hours before the posted check-in time. The same thing was true when I checked out - tapped the app and my receipt was emailed to me within the hour. Nearby, there's a Burger King, and there's a Subway across the parking lot; there are also moderately priced restaurants and bars and a full-service grocery store and Virginia ABC store within a minute or two walking distance. I usually ride on Amtrak to get to Newport News from D.C., and the recently opened station is gorgeous. Lyft and Uber are well-supported, and I was able to schedule an early Sunday morning Lyft for about $25 for the 20-minute ride from the hotel to Amtrak (it costs less than that if you don't need to schedule in advance). Upon arriving at the hotel, I was recognized as a Diamond-tiered Hilton Honors member and offered snacks based on that status. The front desk staff members have consistently been welcoming, courteous, and helpful. I sampled the breakfast offerings, which included both oatmeal and grits, biscuits and gravy, and waffles, in addition to bagels, muffins, cereals, eggs, sausage, fruit, and yogurt. The breakfast staff members were friendly, kept the place clean and filled with all the fixings. My wife and kids have made the Hampton Inn Newport News-Yorktown our destination of choice; now our kids are bringing their young families there as well. Five stars for a job well done.

The claw tub bath/shower provided a functional look into the past while the outdoor bath  provided a unique treat of showering under the stars. Several dishes felt inexpensive in both ingredients and execution: over-salted hams, cheap syrups, and overall weak preparation. The service team is lovely--and trying--but the food simply isn't at the level expected for this price point. We are a middle aged couple, and sometimes when we have the kids with us we review from that perspective as well. So if you were using your Bonvoy points from your Chase or American Express card, I would recommend you stay at Fairfield, town place or Springhill suites over the courtyard. The courtyard doesn't provide free coffee or breakfast. This particular courtyard I was shocked they didn't even offer coffee when it was 20 degrees outside, instead they had ice water with lemons and limes cut up in the lobby... this location should really rethink that. No one wants ice water when it's 20 outside. The place did have a conjoined indoor outdoor heated pool, we did not use it but there were kids using it. The place and room was very clean, staff were ok, not super nice and welcoming like some please. They do seem to have issues with staffing the coffee/food area where you can purchase coffee and food (small sandwiches but nothing filling). They do have lots of green space for your service dog but are not per friendly. They have an excellent restaurant next door, called The Whaleing Company, great food but just know your gonna spend $20 average a person and kids menu was chicken nuggets, pbj, and hot dog type of food (def not Applebees kids menu IYKYK). The clam chowder was very good! They accommodated my request of a ground floor, but my standard Bonvoy request for the extra pillows, towels was not.
