The hotel is beautiful and the lobby was even more dazzling as it was decorated for the holidays. The rooms were pretty standard in decor but even the "basic" rooms are larger than many I've been in. There was a desk for me to get some work done and a chair if I had guests. With a lot of extra room between the bed and TV, just in case you want to do some yoga. A few of my colleagues got suites and they were 2 rooms with many sitting areas and a couch. The bed is very soft and not my favorite, but still good. There were plenty of blankets and pillows as well. I will say heating and cooling the room had a bit of a learning curve. It was pretty cool outside when I visited but inside the room was mid 60s. I like it at around 70 so the heater would heat then go off then go back on not long after. So if you visit in the cooler months, and are like me I suggest mid 70s for the thermostat. All had the standard TV and books about the area. It also had a snack bar, drinks in a small frig and a mini mini mini frig for me to put food in. The frig find those side sandwiches sized to go containers so keep that in mind. And like many hotels, the mini bar is no cheap so if you don't want to be tempted you may want to get some snacks. For sound, I will say you can hear the street and the park had some music playing so that could be heard. On the flip side, I was right next to the elevators and couldn't hear them at all. The location was not far from the airport, 30 minute drive, but there isn't a lot of parking if you're renting a car. It is close to many areas like restaurants, the hockey rink, coffee shops, offices. Most places are either a 15 to 20 minute walk or even shorter drive. I had my choice of restaurants while there. While I wouldn't advise walking, like I did, the Capitol building and Summit Hill were close to see when there is a bit of free time. All in all, it was a lovely stay and should I be back will be my first choice.

In the room I noticed a chip in the bathtub edge and a loose shower-head. Aside from an elaborate lobby nothing about the hotel stood out as a self-billed luxury hotel. The room was quiet and had decent views of Rice Park. I 'm not sure that I'd stay here again.

Prior to booking, I called the hotel directly and made it very clear that I would be traveling with my cats. I was explicitly assured that this would not be an issue. Upon arrival, I checked in with the cats present and again confirmed that I was traveling with animals. No concerns were raised. In fact, staff -- including valet -- interacted with us without any issue, and everyone was pleasant during my first night's stay. Originally, I had booked one night, but due to a delayed meeting I requested and was approved to extend my stay for a second night. Everything seemed perfectly fine until midway through the second day, while I was out at lunch, when I received a very abrupt and unprofessional text message from someone claiming to be a manager. The message stated that pets were not allowed, that housekeeping had entered my room and discovered the cats, and accused me of sneaking animals into the hotel -- which is completely untrue. I had left a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door, and I had previously been told by staff that rooms are not entered under those circumstances. My cats are quiet and would not have drawn attention. I was shocked and confused by both the accusation and the manner in which it was communicated. I rushed back to the hotel immediately to resolve the situation, but management refused to listen to my explanation or acknowledge that multiple staff members had been fully aware of the animals from the beginning. My approved second night was canceled, and I was ultimately asked to leave the premises and find alternate accommodations with little regard for the disruption or inconvenience caused. While most of the front-line staff I encountered were kind and the room itself was acceptable, the handling of this situation -- particularly the rude communication, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to consider the facts -- completely overshadowed the entire experience. As someone who frequently hosts clients and recommends accommodations in the St. Paul area, I cannot in good conscience recommend this property.

Zane checked me in and he was THE best. So kind and personable. I asked for a room on a higher floor and that's what he gave. The view of the river was nice and appreciated. The hotel was nice, the room was ok, the king bed was so comfortable. The robe was tattered but a nice to have after my shower. The hotel has Byredo products and they smell AMAZING!!! I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant Citizen but I will definitely be back. See you soon!

The location is great, close to downtown St. Paul restaurants and the famous historical Saint Paul Hotel, the Landmark Center, as well as within walking distance to the beautiful Mississippi riverfront. Very helpful staff! Everyone that I saw was polite and eager to make their guests happy. I even got a couple extra of their famous cookies in the evenings when I was looking for sweets. I got a corner room, that was very spacious, with great views of the city and the beautiful cathedral of Saint Paul. One tip for travelers: the 54 bus that comes right in front of this hotel can take you to the airport for just one dollar!

I recently stayed at the DoubleTree in downtown St. Paul for a weekend getaway, and while there…read morewere some highlights, there were also a few issues that made it a mixed experience overall. PROS: Central Location: Nicely situated right in downtown St. Paul. Easy access to restaurants, parks, and local attractions. Cookie Bonus: Who doesn't love a warm cookie at check-in? A small touch that makes a big first impression. Parking Made Easy: The attached parking garage is incredibly convenient. The hotel validates your stay, and the system recognizes your license plate for seamless in/out access. No fussing with tickets or room keys. Spacious Room Layout: Stayed in a standard King room, which was generously sized with a partial wall separating the sleeping area from a cozy sitting area (two chairs, a table, and a desk). Pool Access: The indoor pool was a decent size--not too deep (max 5 ft), which made it great for kids or casual swimming. On-Site Mini Market: There's a secure, key-accessible snack shop in the lobby, which is super handy for late-night cravings. Friendly Staff (Mostly): Front desk and housekeeping were courteous and accommodating. Nice Event Spaces: Saw a wedding setup during our stay and the banquet hall looked lovely and well-decorated. CONS: Noise Issues: Room doors SLAM shut like thunder, and the walls are paper thin. We heard every door closing, pipes creaking, and hallway footsteps like they were in our room. Tiny Bathroom: Barely enough room to get in and out of the shower without hitting the bathroom door. Extremely cramped layout. Weak Water Pressure: Shower pressure was poor and the water never got more than lukewarm. Accessibility Concerns in Pool Area: No steps or easy access--only metal ladders to get in and out. Not ideal for small kids or anyone with mobility concerns. Dusty Corners: The room was mostly clean but clearly not thoroughly dusted. The divider between the bed and sitting area had thick dust clumps that fell when bumped. No Price Transparency in Snack Shop: None of the items were priced, and it was sticker shock at checkout--$5 to $7 for a soda or candy bar is just absurd. Mixed Staff Vibes: While most were friendly, a couple of the male staff members were noticeably standoffish and made us feel like we were bothering them with basic questions. Overall Verdict: If you're looking for a centrally located hotel with decent amenities and don't mind a bit of noise, this could work for a short stay. But between the thin walls, tiny bathroom, and overpriced snacks, I'd consider other nearby options next time--unless they start charging by decibel level, in which case I want a refund.

This of course came with a cost because if you loose the key the cost is about $150 bucks fee. My room was so elegant and very fitting for a staycation. The only thing I noticed is that the walls are a bit thin so the sound does travel. Luckily, I had some mature neighbors and didn't have to worry. I took advantage of the SPAC- Saint Paul Athletic Club facilities while I was there- Sauna, Steam room, and pool. Sad they didn't have a hot tub, but I made due. This is a hotel that you can go to and be very low key. They don't have a restaurant on site but their continental breakfast is a great deal. Everything was fresh. They did a great job with fully stacking the food and providing an array of options. Would highly reccommend and would return.

Well not the room But the bed was tiny and shoved in between two walls making me fell claustrophobic! I should of taken a photo but I was so tired I just tried to rest. It was definitely not for two grown adults. I had a hard time getting in and out of bed because they also had a huge nightstand positioned on the one side so you basically had to scooch to the bottom of bed to get out. It was clean room. Continental breakfast was fine. Lots of toiletries and kitchen sink and kurig to make coffee. I think it also had a small fridge. I would have preferred a larger bed and not all the other stuff. Sleep and convince of the green line is the only reason why we stayed here. Love the beautiful door to get to the walkway system from the 2nd floor. Too cool. The pool and gym are awesome as well. Adult only so you don't need to worry about kids slashing and crying.

All staff members were very accommodating and for the first time in a long time, I was kind of bummed to be checking out of a hotel! I will say that this hotel is located in Lowertown St. Paul, not central / downtown St. Paul, which may be a consideration as far as transport, if you do not have access to a vehicle. If you do, it is such a convenient location but do note that there was apparently a pretty minimal parking fee per night (circa... $15, if I recall what others mentioned correctly). The need to pay this fee for parking did get missed by at least 2 of the other parties we spoke to during the stay. Overall, this place is a gem of a find!!
