DAY 3 WITHOUT WI-FI and the management has done nothing or communicated anything. But the staff sure thinks it's funny.

A few choices in restaurants and gas stations nearby and although its close to the freeway it was still very quit. If you need a meal or convenience store several are within walking distance although next to a steep hill. The staff we met were mostly friendly and polite. Now why they did not get 4 or 5 stars from us. Our room was ok, but we had asked for a walk in shower, the desk clerk verified that we wanted that and said no problem. Then checked us in to a room with a bathtub. The room was icy cold when we went in, strange since most hotels have the air off or low. We quickly learned why, once we turned on the heat to raise it up to 68 (the room was really cold before that) the heat warmed up the room and released heavy dog smells, the kind you get when a dog has not been bathed regularly, kind of mixed with dog sweat, liter box and well a little worse. We both have allergies so at first it was just annoying, then it got worse. We were exhausted from a long trip and ready to sleep so we were already in bed when it started to get bad. Within an hour or so neither of us could breathe. Mind you we are not even allergic to dogs, we love dogs. Dogs that have been bathed and cared for. The lounge chair, desk chair and a/c all smelled heavily of the fowl odder. Honestly it surprised us how bad it was, because its so easy to take care of, some arm and hammer sprinted on the cloth furniture, some air cleaner spay, a wash of the washable air filters, and if that had not worked an hour or two with an ozone machine would have killed off any fowl oder and neutralized the room, making it allergy free. Most hotel operators, rentals and used car dealers are well aware of ozone machines and most have one or two around. In the morning when my wife brought it up to the new front desk person instead of doing the rather simple gesture of saying "I'm sorry" we'll get that cleaned up, thanks for letting us know" and we would have been happy. Instead she wanted to argue with my wife, made those gestures and grunts teenagers do when they are trying to pretend they don't know who left the empty milk carton in the refrigerator and finished off the cookies while crumbs roll off their face. She ws rude, condescending and defensive instead of just saying, I'm sorry and it would have ended there. We are generally agreeable folks and let most things slide when people act responsible and professional about it. But treat us rudely, try and argue or pretend you didn't know (it was obvious they did know but didn't care). Then we respond with a complaint like this. I hope they do better in the future because I liked this location. From the mixed reviews I can see they sometimes get it right. I hope they do better in the future.

I was very pleased that I couldn check in as soon as I got there at 2. My room was on the second floor at the back of the hotel near the skybridge. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. I was disappointed to see crushed crumbs on the floor by the desk. However, I was able to work for a few hours before my dinner meeting. The internet connection was great, I was able to get a bunch done. The hotel is beautiful, I love the architecture, fountain, and gardens. I slept pretty well, the pillows are nice and soft. When I took a shower in the morning, I was very disappointed that the conditioner bottle was empty, as I left my usual products at home. The coffee was ok, but I don't drink it very often any more. It was also very strange that the hand towels were next to the toilet, and not the sinks. It made no sense to me! Check out was very easy, I simply turned in my key and obtained my receipt. I met my coworkers in the lobby and we headed out to our meeting. If it hadn't been for the crumbs on the floor, hand towels by the toilet, and empty conditioner bottle, I would have given this hotel 5 stars.
