We were glad this was only a one-night stay. Unfortunately, our room wasn't very clean, which was disappointing since I'm usually impressed with Marriott Courtyards as an awards member. On the first floor, we dealt with a bathroom leak and a remote that barely worked. I did share feedback with the front desk, but since we were just passing through, exhausted, and using points, I didn't push further, otherwise I might have asked for a partial refund. This hotel is in a great spot if you are in town for the outlets or staying to hop down a little further south. My stay was on 04.06.24 for one night. The staff is friendly and helpful - the room was just okay. It uses the system where the power comes on from your room key in a slot, but the air isn't well regulated and our fridge didn't work. Leaving the key in the slot while being gone didn't ensure that the air stayed on, either, as we found out after being away for a few hours. All in all, not a bad stay. Horrible bed. There is a indention like someone sleep in the same spot for 6 months straight. When I brought it up the front desk I was told they had no rooms to move us too and a mattress was on order. That's it. Now we will have to see a chiropractor for a few weeks to get straight again. We only stayed a night. The room was clean and comfortable. Checking in and checking out was a breeze. Best thing about this hotel is that the location is surrounded by a huge outlet mall just across from the hotel. Fast food and restaurants are also nearby. read more

Worst Marriott experience I have had... The overnight clerk was horrible. I booked a room, checked in via the app, and got delayed. In fact, I didn't check in until 5:00 AM. I also had to book an extra night. The overnight clerk somehow could not understand that I was checking in REALLY late, and refused to believe I had a 2 night stay. She tried to tell me I would have to check in (mind you, after an overnighter) after 3 PM. Even after I showed a screenshot of my confirmation...she was still reluctant. Then "their system went down" and she made me wait 5 minutes for keys...and when I finally got keys, they strangely didn't work. She took her sweet time making replacements, which actually DID work. I stay at 20+ Marriotts a year and have the elite status because of my stays. This is hands down the dirtiest. Our bathroom had old soap in the shower with pubic hair on it, pubes in the the corners, everywhere! I felt like I was a Brazilian Wax boutique. Ironing board was left in the middle of the room, the cabinets open. Staff is young and could care less. I would drive the extra 15 minutes to stay at a different Marriott. read more

This hotel is a pretty standard Marriott similar to the others. However, it is very WARM and the rooms don't seem to have much control over the a/c, nor do they have safes. However, the staff is super friendly and really great, so they make up for the warmth (and let us borrow a fan)! read more

The fridge was moldy and didn't work. Have pictures. Luckily they had one to change it out. I asked for room to be cleaned when out and said I was on the list. Never cleaned. Had to go down to get towels and items needed. Front desk lady who worked that Friday night was super rude and hung up on me three times when trying to just let her know our ac wasn't working. I was simply asking for a fan as the easiest option. It was for my spouses birthday and we had our two kids. Was told breakfast was included yet there wasn't anything but cereal. We played a show that night and Austin and honestly it was nice to get out of the city and to this quiet hotel only 45 minutes away! The staff welcomed us warmly and made every effort to make us feel comfortable! Big shout out to all of the staff for their stellar customer service! I loved how modern and fresh the entire hotel feels! The rooms were very clean, spacious and provided a welcomed respite from our travels on the road. We all found the beds to be extremely comfortable! So much so that we had a hard time getting out of them in the morning! In the lobby there is a great sitting area and a small restaurant and bar. Recommended! This hotel is great! I didn't expect a Courtyard hotel to be so nice! We paid too much ($180 for a night) but that's what we get for waiting until 24 hours before our stay to book it. The check in process was quick. The hotel is very modern. The room was large and had a couch, desk, fridge, and lots of counter space. The bed was comfortable and large. I loved the mural above the bed. The bathroom was awesome. The shower was huge and clean. I loved the feature of the shower where there was a shelf area that was accessible from the shower and the sink area. It was the first time I'd seen that in a shower and it was so convenient. The hotel was really convenient to the outlet mall. We shopped there once even thought that was not the purpose of our visit. There was a back road to get to the road that led to the outlet stores, so it made for easy access. I would definitely stay here again! read more

Ok, walking in to this place everything seemed great. It sports the typical Courtyard decor and layout. We were greeted and taken care of, per usual of my Marriott experiences. Walked on to the room, everything looked good, clean. This Marriott uses your room key to turn on the power in the room. I experienced this setup in Europe years ago and wondered how long it would take the US to get on board. We had a double queen room. Plenty of space, outlets, etc. There was also a fridge in the room. However, getting the fridge to work was touch to. There are 2 buttons in the fridge, one for quick chill (cools for 2 hrs at a time) and one for....i forget. Anyway, it was heck to get the thing to turn om. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt. The biggest negative was the a.c. It's not calibrated appropriately at all. I had it turned to 70 and had to get up in the middle of the night twice to get it to the right temperature. Had to turn it to 65 to feel like 70 and leave it on high fan instead of automatic, though it still blew when it wanted to. We only stayed one night, so no time to really complain about it. read more

Nice looking Courtyard. I am a Platinum Elite Member. I have seen quite a few Courtyards. Putting the key into a slot just inside the door of the room to activate the electronics is stupid. Entered my room and it was not comfortable. It's June in Texas. AC was not on. REALLY??? I was told to put my key in a slot just inside the door to activate the electronics. Why? Seriously, why? Does not benefit me. Just aggravates me for no good reason to me as the customer. I have been in the room for about 3 hours and the temp has dropped about 5 degrees in the room. Hopefully my picture of the AC set up will attach. Who was the designer of this room? The AC is covered by a shelving set up that blocks the AC from entering the rest of the room. Just stupid. Not too impressed with this hotel, my husband made reservations, being a Bonvoy rewards member. The rooms seem relatively clean, but stained carpets in rooms and in halls, dusty crevices & corners in the room and really throughout hotel. I think I gave two stars and not one star, because the clean sheets and clean towels, kinda sad, seems that would be a given. The towels do look clean and bright white, the shower would be better if the conditioner, & body wash bottles weren't broken off the wall and placed on shelf, repairs would be nice, I guess, expected. We will see if we get clean towels, we said no need for sheets to be changed, at this point I feel like getting clean towels would be a bonus. The small mirror was noticeably dirty in the bathroom. They is no microwave in our room, there wouldn't have been room, there is a refrigerator, the (refrigerator) storage has a door, but can't close. The storage is built incorrectly, makes the room a bit junky when you can't close the door, or close it halfway. The furniture is scraped up in room, it's seems like it's a newer hotel, but furniture looks like it may have come from another old hotel. The tv screen has dirty finger prints all over, it gives you the feeling other parts of room may not be clean. There is only one elevator functioning, out of two for the entire hotel. The staff is not terribly friendly, not offensive, just not welcoming. It seems for $290/a night they could at least have complimentary coffee in the morning, nope. The bar/restaurant counter is just on one side of lobby, not much selection of food and very limited hours, seating area for "restaurant" is the lobby. It just doesn't seem the quality of a Marriott group hotel, disappointing. It wasn't bad enough to leave for our second night, but if we were not busy doing things out of the hotel during the day, I would see about moving to another hotel in the area. I would not want to stay all day in the room or at the hotel, overall really disappointing. read more

This place is WAY too expensive for the severe lack of amenities they offer. No microwave, no free water for Gold Members due to Covid (but don't worry, you can still buy the water), you have to insert a card to turn the lights and A/C on, but, when you do, the light switches have difficulty working (it took five minutes of pressing light switches before any of them did anything. This place exceeded my expectations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice and the bathroom had a large glass shower. Outside there is a gas fire-pit to sit around that I thought was pretty neat. The pool is small and I believe the deepest depth is 3.5'. The hotel grounds are very well manicured and pretty. The only reason I didn't give this hotel 5 stars is because I woke up the next morning and my back was hurting. I attribute this to the bed as I never have back pain after waking up. However, I could be wrong, and it may have just been a fluke. I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

Visited TX State University in San Marcos, TX with our daughter. It is new and contemporary in decoration with the grey ceramic tiles, softer colors, and modern feel. There is a bistro and I noticed several families downstairs in the lobby seating. We got into the city very late that night with an easy checkin. It was so cold. Loved the feel of our room with its scenic painted walls, mirrored wall closet, and conveniently located across from the outlet mall across the interstate. Hey, you couldn't ask for anything more. The only problem we had was a poltergeist flickering light in the bathroom. Reported it but it wasn't repaired. during our stay. We will definitely return. read more

I had a small, comfortable couch in the corner,flat screen tv mounted on the wall, plenty of lighting, good water pressure in the shower, and cold air conditioning. My family and I stayed in 4 rooms for 2 nights and were overcharged for 2 additional rooms! how does this happen? when we inquired with the Manager Scott, he became very defensive and rude. He called us liars but yet refused to give names of these mystery people who stayed in the other rooms. we also asked him to show video footage of these people checking in or going I got he rooms. One of the nicest CY hotels I have stayed in (I am Platinum on Marriott Rewards, so I stay in a lot of them). Convenient right off I35, it is a modern version of the Courtyard chain, with sleek rooms, cool lobby/restaurant, and all of the amenities you need in a hotel: gym, pool, business center and bar. The staff was super friendly. When I mentioned that there were loud kids playing in the outside pool after the 10pm curfew, Caroline handled the situation with poise and grace. She called back to tell me that she reminded them of the hours and that they were vacating the pool. This is great proximity to the town of San Marcos or New Braunfels, plus right across from the outlet malls. read more

Okay, hear me out. This hotel is wonderful. The check in people were super understanding and amazing throughout our process of getting a room for the night. The ONLY reason I'm giving a two star rating, is because of the bistro inside of the hotel. The food wasn't even good but the service was by far the worst serving experience of my life. The one woman they had working at the front had a horrible and mean demeanor. After everything we said, she would exhale dramatically or argue with us about something wrong with the order. Her overall persona was rude and ugly and I would never want someone else to experience what we did. However they did only have one person working the bistro and I'm sure it was a really stressful environment, but that still doesn't justify being rude to customers. This property appears to have opened recently. The common spaces are beautiful and relaxing. Our room was clean, quiet, large and spacious. There is a dining area/bar named The Bistro but it wasn't open during the times we went there. We were in town for a wedding and my husband went to The Bistro for brewed coffee shortly after 11:00 a.m. He was told he could not get a cup as The Bistro closed at 11:00 a.m. The young lady he spoke with stated she could not open the cash register. A better response would be to offer a cup free of charge or bill the charge to the room. Later, the person at the front desk gave him a cup of coffee and told him it was always available at any of their properties. Apparently, the first employee had been educated. Now, THAT is good customer service! My husband had to return for a pair of glasses and a commuter cup he'd forgotten. We were grateful to have it saved for us. Would recommend. read more

The hotel was clean. Very overpriced for what we got during our stay. And we left Our iPhone charger after we Checked out. I called as soon as we realized if (maybe 5 hours later) after I had searched all bags and belongings. I talked to the front desk person and she claimed everything is turned in by housekeeping staff once they clean a room. But- nothing else. As I write this at 2:55am you might imagine how this stay is going. The beds are old and hard with what feels like springs poking through. My two total hip replacements feels like they are on fire and might never work properly again. This is the first of a three night stay, there will be NO more nights at this hotel. Do not even trust them to give me another room. The a/c also does not cool the room, it blows into the bookshelf. This is even after we purchased a $50. Fan to help. We've stayed here many times over the years the beds have gone down with time. Amanda..the front desk clerk was extremely dismissive and rude and has no business being at the front desk. When I stated that I had a reservation she informed me in a very rude manner that people should call before the come because there was no real availability  to 1500. I did not complain she stated all she had was a room near the construction at the far end.This incident was at the Courtyard Marriott San Marco's Outlet Hotel. I have stayed at this hotel just a week and a half prior and this young lady treated me as if I was annoying her by asking questions. Amanda proceeded to tell me after I stated that I was a platinum member " there are two levels higher than you" Which in her mind means the money I have spent meant nothing. When I asked for a room upgrade it was as if I was annoying her. She stated that it was a long day and I am sorry and I stated to her that please do not take your bad day out on me. The number to this Marriott is 512-359-7550. I have contacted the Marriott Complaint center through my account. This young lady has no business dealing customers. She seemed sick coughing and sweating at the front desk and looking overall uncomfortable. I asked to speak to the manager and after she upgraded my room Amanda reminded me that she was the front desk manager before informing me that Mr. Duplechain was busy on a conference call. read more

At last minute after having dinner in town, we (Dad, Mum, twin 21 month old girls) decided to stay in San Marcos rather than drive back to Houston. All the hotels and B&Bs in town were full so we booked a room here. For a freeway hotel, this place is excellent. Clean and contemporary. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice lounge / breakfast area. Well-equipped gym. Rooms are a good size ... we had a double Queen room. It had a really nice feel to it. It's only a couple of freeway exits from town (10 min drive from downtown) ... we'd probably stay here again in preference to something in town! read more

They have a bedbug infestation & after myself, my travel companion endured several bites, the GM (Scott D-something... he refused to give me his last name) was completely rude and unapologetic. Truly a shame because I travel to this area often and Marriott is my hotel of choice. Looks like I'll be at the Embassy Suites from here on. The bedbug situation was bad enough but this manager's attitude adds insult to injury. In addition to this review, I will be writing a strongly worded letter to the corporate offices.
