Great location in downtown Ottawa, basically as close as it gets to the famous ByWard Market and the happening Rideau Centre. Need a key to get in the front door due to security. Not the newest hotel but perfectly fine and enjoyed the relatively spacious room setup. Sometimes they host large tourist groups here, since its so convenient to walk to Parliament and the waterside park areas. read more

This is a decent place, but it was not my first choice of a place to stay in Ottawa. Unfortunately the Westin was sold out so I came across this little place. From the outside, it's not much to look at and it looks a bit run down and dated. Inside, they have decorated it pretty nicely but they still can't hide the fact that this looks like an old motor lodge. The staff at the front pods (there's not really a desk) were very friendly and professional. The elevator was kind of slow so since I was staying on the 2nd floor, I generally took the stairs. My room was on the inside so faced the interior courtyard. Basically I looked at the roof of the pool area. So that was awful but I wasn't looking out the windows that much. The room was fairly large and comfortable, with nice beds, a chair, a desk and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was a tight squeeze and the shower was not the nicest, but that was the only negative to the room. Otherwise it was pretty cool. The location is great. Very convenient to walk to the historic government buildings, the Byward Market or the canal. Plenty of restaurants and nightlife near by. There is a pool, which looked pretty nice and there's a tiny gym with a few treadmills and a couple of elliptical machines, but no weights. You can purchase a hot breakfast but I opted just for the coffee in the room. The wifi was very good. This is a decent place, made better by really nice staff and a comfortable bed. read more

Had a wonderful time at this hotel. Service was excellent and the hotel was great. Location is in the byward market and is a bit noisy but that is to be expected. We enjoyed the weekend and would return. read more

Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa Downtown - Hotels Near Me - Ottawa, Ontario

This hotel was conveniently located near all the major attractions of Ottawa. If you stayed here, you would be within walking distance of most of the major museums, memorials and parliament. The staff was amazingly friendly: going above and beyond describing locations, helping us find where we wanted to go.The staffer even explained Canadian national holidays to us in a gleeful manner, akin to school child reciting middle school history. What great service. This is the first time in a long while that I've encountered a service person genuinely happy to be providing service. read more

We were in town for a wedding and stayed here one night. The room we had was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were polite & helpful. We were in a bit of a rush as we had to check in, change quickly and get to the wedding. I had left my credit card at the desk and they ran it to our room in a jiffy. My only complaint was the noise. Not from others in the hotel but from the street. We were on the main floor. It was raised higher than Street level but it was still really noisy! I eventually had to put earplugs in to sleep. It's in a busy area of downtown so I get that there are lots of drunk noisy people around but, I was still disappointed. If you stay here make sure you request to be on a higher floor. I'm sure the noise would be abated on the second or third floors. But all in all a great hotel. read more

A very solidly "A-OK" hotel that earns a 4th star for great service, especially Matt on desk. Ultimately looks & feels like a dressed up 80s motor lodge (dated on-site "bistro" doesn't at all help avoid this image, nor does the convenience kiosk of edibles and misc items for sale next to the desk) but location is great, price is reasonable, and as mentioned service is above average. Perfect if you want prime location and don't plan to be in your hotel much. Pro tips: * Warmest & saltiest pool I have ever been in, super-chlorinated I guess so you won't have to worry about catching anything, but if you're sensitive about your hair, skip this. * Weight room is in a weird space that looks like a converted change room, serviceable but that's it. Separate cardio room overlooking the pool with 2 of 3 treadmills working. Towels are fresh though. * Skip the daily room cleaning and earn 250 bonus Marriott Reward points. Other stuff: My room was 3rd floor on Dalhousie, some street noise but nothing terrible. Coworker on 2nd floor complained of street noise, but it's a low-rise hotel in Byward Market so some noise is to be expected. Coworker on 4th floor said noise was not a problem. read more

Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa Downtown - An incredibly salty pool o_O - Hotels Near Me - Ottawa, Ontario

I was kinda peeved that i had to pay for valet because of construction...but the next morning there were a few cars broken into. so, i would get the valet...the Market area is really nice, but also home to a lot of homeless/cracky people. i think i had an updated room (420), it was nice. the bed looked nice, but was a bit uncomfy...new flatscreen TV and wood desk/tv unit. 420 is a pretty quiet room, it is on the other side of the hotel from the elevators, and looks into the hotel. read more

Nice quiet hotel around the corner from the Byward Market. Updated decor is very nice. Staff were very helpful when I forgot my phone charger. Best kept secret is the 2 sided gas fireplace in the lounge. Good parking access. read more

It's a Courtyard. We all know how I feel about Courtyards. They're kind of the scrawny brother in the Marriott family. Some are immaculately kept and some are run down, but they all have a cookie cutter feel to them and just don't feel that special to me. This particular Marriott, as the 3 stars indicate, was just A-OK to me. Pros: - Location, Location, Location: The Courtyard is located right next to Byward Market and within walking distance of the Rideau Centre and Parliament. Having never been to Ottawa before, I was a bit skeptical of choosing this hotel over the Delta because it seemed to be away from all the hotels in the downtown area. As luck would have it, I ran into a gentleman from Ottawa at a bar a few months prior to my trip. He recommended staying here strictly for the location. I'm glad I took his advice simply because everything I could have wanted to see while in Ottawa was within a stone hop. - Cleanliness: For some reason, Courtyards are some of the cleanest Marriotts I stay in. I don't know if their staff is just overall better trained or Courtyard standards are easier to follow, but I have never experienced any dustiness, late cleanings, or issues with getting more bathroom amenities in a timely manner. - Room Location: Reading other reviews, I feel this may be a hit or miss. Our particular room was on the third floor facing the Hyatt across the street. I didn't have any issues with noise from adjacent rooms or the street. Cons: -Elevators: Their elevators have to be the tiniest elevators I've ever seen in a hotel. Ever. My dad and I were uncomfortable being in there just the two of us. When a third person joined us on a ride up I genuinely felt claustrophobic. They are THAT small. -Front Desk: Hit or miss. Not particularly helpful, but not outright rude. Just kind of there to be there. Any place we found in Ottawa we found ourselves. -Parking: It's not particularly safe (out in the open lot) and no signage tells you to continue forward to the valet entrance to park in the lot. My dad and were very confused and ending up having to go around the block. Given its location, I wouldn't rule out staying here again. I'm probably ready to try the Westin first if I wanted to stay by Rideau & Byward though. read more

Do no waste your time with this hotel. The information that you are given is false and they do not stand by there word. I recently booked into this hotel for a third time and after experiencing a loud, sleepless visit on a previous encounter I was informed that if I call and request an inside room that I will be accommodated. This was a lie. I did that and when I came to check in all inside rooms were taken and I had to live with the most awful street noise I've ever had in a city in North America. What a tragic dump this hotel is, they cannot even afford to invest in sound proofing themselves even though they are in the entertainment district. Stay Away! you've been warned. read more

The service was really good! 4 stars. The front desk staff were really helpful, and kind. The hotel itself is conveniently located. It's right in the middle of the Byward Market, and also walking distance to the convention centre. The hotel itself isn't super fancy, and actually had a bit of a funky smell, but if you aren't looking for a romance or luxurious experience, this would be fine for my usual "sleeping only" hotel use. Free wifi. read more

Great location that is close to everything. It is a downtown hotel, so it is in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The hotel has great COvID protocols - masking, hand sanitizer. There is self parking on sight and more restaurants, shopping and coffee shops than you could ever need. The rooms were very clean, modern, and the bed was very comfortable. We got a great nights sleep and enjoyed our visit very much. read more

Small (4 floors) but ample accommodations similar in nature to most all Courtyard locations around the US (not sure about Canada). Free Wifi that seems to work pretty well. The rooms are clean and house keeping does a good job of getting things turned around for you quickly. the location of this Courtyard is key, right in the heart of the Market district of Ottawa, this is a real gem of a place. read more

Great location, easily within walking distance of the parliament and national art museum. It just off the Byward market, which is a street dedicated to small shops and farmer fruits and vegetables. But there are also a number of diverse restaurants and other attractions. The hotel is a basic hotel, but they are upgrading it. It has a nice pool, surround by an inner court. The hotel is a little dated. They were fixing the underground parking lot, so parking is a premium. We stayed two nights, and just parked the car and took taxi when we didn't feel like walking. read more

Stayed here for four nights in October. This hotel is in a very central location, close to many restaurants and bars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. This location has been recently renovated, although that does not include the hallways or elevators. However, most importantly the room was very nice with a big (queen size I think) and comfortable bed. The breakfast restaurant/bar was also renovated. The breakfast was good and the service was also very friendly. Funnily enough there is free coffee in a hallway around the corner from the main desk. But the bar will also sell you Starbucks branded coffee. There were also free Globe and Mail newspapers. Although the wifi was free it was painfully slow most of the time. I was also in a room that faced the street which got quite loud sometimes when trying to sleep. read more

I've been to some pretty run down and not so nice hotels (I have backpacked Thailand...I've seen worst of the worst, trust me). This place is right up there. Honestly, I am in shock of how outdated and disgusting this hotel is. The carpets are filthy. The staff are VERY young. Not rude, but just unaware and immature. I am staying here for a conference, visiting from out of town. They do not provide water bottles. Sink is OUTSIDE of the bathroom, in the actual room. I had booked a king room and they said they could only give me two queens upon arrival. The room had a gross musty smell. The beds were properly made, but I can almost guarantee the comforter was not washed. I would not be surprised if the room had bed bugs. Also, the noise is very loud from the main street. Don't waste your money. read more

I'm using the hotel for my wedding guests and from a customer service standpoint, they have been outstanding so far, particularly Pamela Giroux. She has answered every question of mine with the utmost speed and is one step ahead of me (and I'm fairly organized) for every thing planning-related and is making it a stress free process for me. Would highly recommend for anyone planning a wedding in the Ottawa area. read more

I am one of those people who typically goes out of her way to avoid chain hotels, which I find soul-less and depressing. But this time, my desire for convenient location and affordability (made possible thanks to a AAA discount; be sure to ask for it if you have Triple A) trumped all and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel itself is pretty basic, but the room we had was clean and updated--and my son and husband made use of the pool each morning. Plus there is free wifi which worked well during our visit. And all the front desk employees we encountered were pleasant and friendly. Parking (for an extra daily fee) was easy enough with both outside and indoor lots. The hotel is literally next door to the Byward Market and within easy walking distance of other tourist attractions like the Parliament and Royal Mint (the latter was admittedly a bit further, but still doable). There is a Starbucks not too far away, where my coffee snob husband, who is convinced there are no good local coffee shops to be found in Canada, picked up coffee each morning. We spotted a cute little patisserie a couple blocks away off of Dalhousie on a side street that we never got to try, but we did make it to Mello's Diner just a few blocks away on Dalhousie. This place is a diner by day, supper club by night. We tried the supper club and while the food took forever to come, it did the trick after a long day of driving from Brooklyn. I'd also highly recommend the Scone Witch for lunch; a bit of a hike from the hotel but close enough to the Parliament so you could combine the two. But I digress... The point of all this is to say that I was very happy with my stay at this particular Marriott and would choose it again if we ever return to Ottawa. One caveat: We stayed on the first floor and during the week, it was very quiet, but on Friday night, a rowdy group of young women stayed in some rooms nearby--and we could hear them in the hall in the middle of the night. So maybe the hotel draws a younger, louder crowd on weekends to visit the bars in the area???? Finally, both my son and I fell completely in love with the fruit infused filtered water they offered in the lobby every night. My son, in particular, looked forward to checking out what combinations they would come up with; one night i think it was strawberry, mint and lime... and I recall a combination with cucumber that was also lovely. This was a nice touch we truly appreciated. read more

Great place to stay when you're visiting Ottawa. The Marriott brand delivers. The rooms are a nice size and the bed was extremely comfortable. People talk about it being loud outside but you get used to it and feel like part of a vibrant City. The staff we're always friendly and greeted you when you came in. Being in this location is awesome for food and shopping. read more

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars. We stayed several nights in November 2012. The decor was very modern and sleek. The hotel was spotless clean, both the rooms and common areas. The little bar/cafe served excellent drinks and at night, light meals which were fresh and delicious (had salads and wine). The staff were very attentive, both at reception and in the bar/cafe. My husband and I both found the room spacious and cozy, and our bed and pillows were very comfortable. The workout room was small but got the job done. The pool/hot tub were so clean they appeared to be filled with crystal clear spring water--fabulous. I believe that some of the less positive ratings must have been based on the pre-remodel because we were unusually impressed and strongly recommend this hotel. read more

Stayed at the Marriott and found a lack of sufficient parking. Even though we paid for parking we were not told that it wasn't necessarily on site. We arrived back at the hotel at 11 pm, only to find the parking was full and we were given a chit for parking that was 2 blocks from the hotel. The parking garage was dark and there was a lack of security. We were 2 women alone and were concerned for our safety. We spoke to the head desk and they were not given any resolution to the problem and were told they could do nothing. Consequently we will look for alternatives in the future read more

Not impressed at all. Staying here for business the room smells horrible- the bistro sandwich was dry and nasty. The staff are all very nice but I always stay at Marriots and this one definitely let me down- dingy outdated rooms from like circa 1980's - Would NOT stay here again. The room price is like staying in downtown Chicago with a room in a crappy suburb. read more

Location, location, location. From the hotel window, you can see about 10 bars/restaurants. Parliament is a short 5-10 minute walk and you have access to the Byward Market. Also, for you American readers, across the street is a 24/7 money exchanger. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Although our room was at the intersection of York/Dalhousie, we had no trouble sleeping. You can certainly stay at the Westin or Fairmont and pay quite a bit more, but you will also have a longer walk to all of the bars/restaurants. We will definitely be returning. read more
