Back in January, we suddenly had to evacuate our home in the middle of the night because of the Palisades Fire. After dropping our dogs off with a friend, we scrambled to find a hotel and ended up at the Courtyard by Marriott Thousand Oaks. It honestly turned out to be a lifesaver for the nine days we were there. The rooms were spotless and had a surprisingly roomy fridge--perfect for all the snacks we stress-bought. The staff went out of their way to help us, which made a tough time a little easier. I ended up working most days from a cozy booth in the lobby, complete with my own TV so I could keep an eye on the nonstop fire news. One unexpected perk was the hotel's location next to an outdoor mall. We loved being able to walk around and explore, since walkability isn't something we get at home. In the evenings, we made the best of things by checking out different movie theaters in Burbank and Universal Studios City Walk and catching up on Oscar-nominated films. I hope we never have to evacuate again, but if we do, I know exactly where we'll go. This Courtyard felt like a safe haven when we needed it most. read more

We stayed at this hotel for only one night, but we enjoyed our stay. Check in was easy and the front desk clerk was pleasant our room was clean. We ate and drank at the bar and we enjoyed the food and the drinks. The bartender was nice. My only criticism is that the carpet seemed old and I would have preferred if the television had faced the bed. read more

Rene, the engineer, was great! He identified the issue in my room and was able to resolve the problem quickly, with little interruption to my stay here. Odath at the front desk is so helpful and pleasant. She was so professional and kind. Hospitality was spectacular. Id definitely Come back.

I asked for a quiet room and was placed next door to a person who had a dog in the room that they had not told the hotel about. The dog barked the entire time and the management refused to do anything about it. The dog not only barked, it cried and was left alone for hours on end and this hotel didn't care enough to check on the condition of the dog to make sure the dog was safe and healthy. The manager said he would comp one night for me but he lied and didn't do that. Literal fights broke out in the hallway because other neighbors were so upset with the barking dog. Security did nothing and the manager kept lying and did absolutely nothing at all. He claimed they didn't have a phone number associated with the reservation and couldn't reach the people who were neglecting the barking dog. Side note: The parking here is horrible and expensive and there were bizarre creepy stains on our towels and bedding. I don't recommend this hotel under any circumstances. Definitely stay somewhere else. read more

If you are looking for a newly renovated hotel and one that is also part of the wonderful Marriott brand, this property is one to check out if you are visiting the area and especially if you are flying into Burbank Airport, as it is only one mile away. We spent 2 nights here in a King Hospitality Suite when we did Universal Studios for weekend. This was the closest hotel that was available to the park (about a 10 minute Lyft drive) and for the 2 nights, it was sufficient. Since our flight got in at 8:30am Saturday morning, our room wasn't ready yet. We were able to leave all of our luggage at the front desk so that we could head straight to the park. We didn't get back until around 10:45pm that night and it was nice to be able to come home to a comfortable room. Here are a few things we loved about the room: * Ample space since there was a separate living room with pull out couch, TV + desk space to work. * 2 fridges (I don't know why they had 2 separate fridges but they did! Neither of them came stocked so no need to worry about getting the munchies and diving into overpriced snacks or drinks.) * Microwave (we didn't use this but it was nice to have it) * Separate bar sink that was in the living room. Since we had 4 people in the room, it was nice to be able to use the extra sink to wash up, brush our teeth, rinse, etc. * Separate pull out couch in the bedroom = 2 separate beds total (both twin sized) * 2 TV's-- one in the living room and one inside the bedroom * Easy sign into your Netflix account which Marriott always offers. * Clean room, clean shower, Comfortable king sized bed. Some things we didn't love: * Pull out couch mattresses were not comfortable at all. The mattresses were super thin and didn't offer any kind of support. These would be good for kids. * The shower head was placed a little too much to the left side of the wall and you couldn't adjust the shower head back to the middle. This left us all having to wedge ourselves to the shower wall so that we could properly rinse. Things we loved about the hotel: * Starbucks coffee at the restaurant in the morning. * Close distance to Universal Studios. * Super friendly staff that was very accommodating. We asked for 4pm checkout on the Monday that we left. After spending a 17 hour day at Universal Studios (Horror nights during the evening portion), we definitely needed to sleep in. Titanium members get the latest checkout at 4pm and they were more than happy to accommodate. read more

Barf! I had to stay here for a work conference and I so wish I would have booked the Marriott that is a mile away. The first day was good. They let me check in early before the conference and waived my parking fee (which is a pretty b.s. charge considering it is just parking in a standard lot), but after the first day the shine wore off. There is no continental breakfast, but there is a small cafe/Starbucks. The rooms are fine. Large bed and lounging sofa. They have the standard brown hotel furniture. Again, not the issue with this place...the issue is the cockroaches! I was dressing for the morning and found a small bug in my luggage. I initially thought "oh, great bed bugs." But as the day progressed and I reviewed the Yelp reviews for this place I am not convinced it was actually a small cockroach. Unfortunately, Yelp won't let me upload the video I took of the largest cockroach I've ever seen in my life running down the hallway, but I included a screenshot from the video. After seeing this I inevitably felt like bugs were crawling all over me for the rest of my stay. I slept with a towel blocking the gap between my door and the hallway. I expect more from a Courtyard. Would never stay here again. read more

Stayed here on a recent trip to Universal Studios. This hotel is close by to many major shops and restaurants and there's a Costco near by too. Only reason we chose this place was because it had a suite ( king bed plus 2 pull outs. One pull out sofa in the living room area and another pull out inside the bedroom where the king bed is located ) Here's the breakdown for Hospitality Suite: 1 king + 1 pull out sofa in a bedroom 1 pull out sofa in the living room 1 bathroom + 1 sink with a large counter space Microwave + fridge + 1 kitchen sink Space was very comfortable. If you need the beds made and towels replaced ( basically housekeeping services ) , please let them know the day before or upon check in so they can plan ahead. With covid, some guests prefer to not have anyone enter their room during the duration of their stay. Breakfast is not included however there is a café in the lobby. If you want to save money you can always bring your own breakfast or there is Krispy Kreme donuts just a couple minutes away. Overall this hotel is conveniently located and of course staff was friendly. read more

Self-parking only and they charge an overnight fee. You are asked to place a card on your dash. This is one of the main spots we choose to stay when traveling to SoCal and never really had any problems. Plenty of room for parking even though there is a parking fee and I feel safe that my car will be okay overnight here. The hotel itself has always been very nice and spacious and clean as well and the staff is friendly. No complaints! read more

So the hotel is indeed redone , but it is nasty and smelly . I travel for work so I bring my little can of Lysol to spray the remote, all touchable surfaces ect . The air shuts off when you open and close the door . I asked about that and the one person lied ( maybe she didn't know ) when I came back every night my room reeked of dog pee . I mentioned it and they did offer to bring up spray . Ummm ya I went through my little can and tan to target to buy a big bottle that I will need to leave here . I asked about allowing dogs in the rooms and while being super friendly about it he said no dogs allowed on the 4th floor . They have a handful of rooms on the 1st floor I did tell him they should block off my room when I leave and clean the carpets . Ummm I know dog pee sir , I work in Veterinary Medicine and that is what I am doing here in LA . So there is that ! 95% of staff is more then friendly ! Rooms appear like they had a soft remodel Housekeeping could have done much better before I checked in . I do not have it done while I am staying . So that was someone's hair all over my bathroom Sorry so long but I feel like it should be said so you know what you will be getting read more

My rating is more of a 4.5/5, but there's no 1/2 star option. I typically stay here whenever I go to Universal Studios. My most recent stay was just this past weekend. It's a fairly quick drive for a decent price, and it's conveniently located in a shopping center that has lots of food choices, a Walmart AND a Target. I'm a bit of a germaphobe with hotels so I don't like using the hotel blankets and I forgot mine, so it was nice to grab one from Target real quick before they closed. Customer service here has always been warm and friendly. I've stayed here maybe 3-4 times, and I can't recall encountering any rude staff. My sister and her friend had two stuffed animals and when we came back, the housekeepers had the stuffies holding hands which was super cute haha Clean, no super fancy room amenities, just a good place to relax after a long day. My one downside for it is the elevator. I hope they upgrade the motor soon. It's super slow and takes forever. It also feels very dated and dusty compared to the rest of the hotel. read more

First and foremost, the staff in this location are great!  Helpful and always willing to give you concessions during your stay.  At one instance, I asked the staff manning the check-in counter where they had the rubbish bin, and she kindly took our garbage and threw it out herself!  Many thanks! The place looks nice and clean, well decorated and has the feel of comfort when you enter.  There are places where you can lounge about, although you could hardly see anyone around during this pandemic madness.  There is a restaurant that is clearly visible when you enter, and during this time when the pandemic precautions are easing up a bit, the restaurant was open for business The rooms are very clean.  You smell a hint of disinfectant around, meaning, they care for the health and safety of the customers.  The bathroom is well stocked with towels and toiletries, well lit and comes with an occupancy sensor that automatically turns the lights on when you enter.  The beds were well made, and when we called to ask for extra pillows, the hotel kindly brought in more in no time at all! This is a place I can always return to when I am in the area and need a place to rest.  Pricing is a little on the high side, but with the amenities available, it is worth it! read more

First the good points: It was close to BUR, room and lobby were very clean, bed was very comfortable, easily accessible and in a great shopping and dining area (try Blaze Pizza, OMG, delish!!). My husband is a Platinum member as he travels extensively. He had amassed a lot of points, which he used to book 2 rooms: one for myself and one for my out-of-town friend. It was her birthday and we planned to shop, dine and gab and just relax. Rolando checked us in and seemed very confused by our reservation (my husband called their concierge desk to make the reservations). Rolando kept saying "three people in each room?" which was incorrect. It was one room each (one for my friend, one for me). He then asked if I needed room keys for "Bob" for each room. Uhmmm NO, again I told him my husband reserved the room, but it was only the two of us standing in front of him that were staying. He seemed frazzled and a bit confused. We walked to our rooms and mine (#113) smelled of flowers in a very pleasant way. My friends' room (#115) smelled musty, think basement carpet. But we were so happy to see each other we hung in my room and chatted, then went to dinner and came back and crashed. The following morning my friend knocked on our adjoining door and she looked like hell. Told me her saga of the ac in her room knocking and pinging all night, about 3x a minute. Around 3am she woke up and walked towards the ac machine. It was then she noticed her socks were soaking wet. Seems the compressor went out and flooded her room. She was so tired she removed her socks and went back to bed and crashed. She went to the front desk that morning to tell them what happened. They sent a tech to her room to fix it. We left him there working and went to breakfast and to go shopping (TJ maxx and West Elm right next door). We came back to gather our things for our 4pm check out (platinum members get later check out times). The tech asked my friend what she did to the ac to break it. EXCUSE me??? I was so angry my friend suggested I go to the car to air it out and run ac (it was 100* outside), while she went to the front desk to check out. She told the agent about the ac and the techs rude comment, and asked if some of the points we used could be refunded. They said no. Frankly they need to DO BETTER. read more

I had a wonderful stay here this last weekend. The staff was very friendly in particular Joey. I called ahead to get a ground floor and she accommodated me. She also made sure I got late checkout. The room was very clean and comfortable. The grounds are dog friendly and when I asked they allowed my brother and family to bring a small dog into the courtyard for a visit where we ate dinner and then lunch the next day. I did not eat food at the restaurant on site but that seemed clean and busy. I was told the Hotel is recently remodeled Overall an A+ stay! read more

This is a dump. Don't ever stay here! The lame lobby cafe is only open from 6-10 am the reopens at 5 pm until 10pm. The servers are nice and I feel so sorry for them because they have to work here. There is nothing else besides fast food and chain restaurants in walking distance. The A/C in the gym was broken on a 95 degree day. I had to do laundry and waited 2 hours for the 1 washing machine. It was $1.50 for wash plus $1.50 to dry my clothes. Back again for the 4th time and the Shi**yard Marriott continues to disappoint. Last night we had a HUGE cockroach in our hotel bathroom, photos attached. The fitness room still has no A/C but the threw in an industrial fan that is so LOUD I can still hear it with my headphones on. The lobby smells like BO and the Muzak is blasting like everyone enjoys it?? F minus!!! read more

Decent hotel, great location near shopping, dining, and nearby airport and freeways. The Courtyard Marriott Burbank is close enough to the airport yet quiet enough that you do not hear planes flying over. We actually stayed during a visit to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. About a 15 minute drive from the park this Marriott was a great location as well as a great rate. Since we drove up late from San Diego and headed straight to the park we did not actually end up even getting our room and keys until about 3:30am. We did mobile check-in but the mobile room keys did not work for some reason. Oddly enough there was a couple that showed up the same time we did to check-in and needed help with luggage. Being the time it was there was only one employee working so there was a bit of a wait. Nice enough but did not get the warm fuzzy feeling like we do at most Marriott family brand hotels (although could be the couple ahead of us or the time of the morning). The rooms were nice, spacious and we had a great view. Marriott is our family choice of hotels so we try and stay within the brand when we can. There was no fancy frills here, a little café downstairs where you could purchase coffee, snacks or breakfast as well as a small bar. No perks at the hotel (as a member you get breakfast, upgrades or even coffee when available). Location was great though because we were able to walk to plenty of nearby places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Overall if on travel and need to be close to the Burbank airport or freeways this is a nice hotel and great location. read more

Pleasant stay but the hallways were confusing, elevators weren't very accessible, and the food service was alright. Rooms were pretty spacious although the windows did little to quiet the construction going on at night. Gym was very small and disappointing but their pool and jacuzzi area looked very relaxing. There are two check in "podiums" and a small market for essentials in the corner. The lobby opens to seating, computers, and a bistro area. Walk straight and you'll enter the pool/jacuzzi lounge area. Anyway, this hotel is in a prime location, walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, and shopping districts. read more

I would not recommend this Marriott. 1. $18 on site parking in their lot. Not even covered or underground. RIP OFF! 2. Walls are paper thin. At 12:30am I was woken up by neighbor's shower. The water pipes are so loud and close to the bed that you hear everything. 3. In room refrigerator wouldn't close. I asked for a late check out (which is usually 2pm) and was told I could get 12:00pm and to ask the morning staff. I got a 2pm check out by asking morning staff. Why inconvenience the customer when you could have easily extended it to 2pm? There is a bistro on site that opens at 6am - coffee, tea and breakfast foods. Opened on time and employee was really nice and hard working. Sorry, the walls are too thin and $18 parking, I will find another place to stay. read more

If I had to wish for something would be room service they don't have it no biggie great food options nearby. Super dog friendly my service dog loved siiting by the firepit. We came here to self-isolate to avoid service workers in our home during covid. We booked a suite. I booked a "StayPass" rate (extended hours), which seemed to confuse the heck out of the front desk person. I never got an email confirming that I had booked this special rate, and he seemed to not know it existed, which caused me some anxiety. That is probably the one reason I would not book again. That and the sofa bed being only a twin pullout bed, which was really weird. The blanket they provide for the sofa bed is also pathetic, but this seems to be an industry wide standard. They could really up their game by providing high quality bedding for the sofa bed. The lighting in the bedroom was really dim to the point of being kinda oppressive over a long period, but the bed was really comfortable. The lighting in the living room was good during the day when the window made it easy to flood the room with natural light. There was no trash cans in the room, except for one tiny one in the bathroom, which was really quite odd. We had to create our own makeshift trash cans from bags we had ordered takeout from. The "bistro" downstairs is only open for breakfast right now and is WAY overpriced. Pretty much everything is premade food that they will microwave for you, but they are charging regular restaurant prices for it. That said.... the good things: Wifi was consistent and strong enough that we did have any trouble doing work and zoom school from the room (which is why we were there). The televisions were big and nice, and they had the ability for you to connect to your own Netflix, so my daughter enjoyed having her own shows. The stay felt "covid safe" as it was clean and we never had to interact with anyone. We enjoyed the pool by ourselves for an hour, since it was an usually warm February day. Do Not stay at this hotel. The service is terrible. One day we did Not have hot water. The food service is almost non-existant, plus the cost is exorbitant for low quality food. You even have to pay for just black coffee - no complimentary anything! While the location is good, there are other hotels in the area that are much better for the price. read more

I have stayed at this hotel a few times for work. The management is excellent, as is the staff. The common areas are well maintained and professional. My rooms have always been very clean, comfortable, and if I have ever had any concerns they are addressed immediately. The location is perfect and near shopping and food. Our room wasn't clean , some trash were left in the trash can and we believe they didn't clean it after the last customer, the room smells so bad and worse than all was the customer service!! This should be an example for other hotels not being the worse one, the guy at the counter he didn't even bother to answer the hello and asked us right away what you need!!! The room was great, very spacious with comfortable beds and pillows, a big TV with Netflix streaming available (if you have an account), black out curtains, and plenty of room. I was surprised upon check in to be told it was $18 a day to park. This should be worked into the price of the room, not told to the guests upon checking in. We ordered take out from a local restaurant and they wouldn't let the driver take it to our room (totally understandable due to Covid) but they got our room number wrong - not the restaurant, we confirmed with them the correct room number was given - and the front desk called a different (similar) room number and when nobody answered they just let the food sit at the front desk for 20 minutes. Not until we called the restaurant did we figure out what happened. An honest mistake I suppose. Overall was a good room for the price (even with the surprise parking charge) and we will be staying again. read more

We asked for a late checkout at the front desk, and the we were told no. He said, "I can't do 2 pm we have to clean the room. Latest I can do is 12pm. Typical of the newer remodeled Courtyards, with friendly staff. Soo much nicer than the snotty Marriott down the road that is rude, tired, and too expensive. This is the better choice for your Marriott points in Burbank / N Hollywood area. I think I may let them know that the modern print in the bathroom is too creepy - looks like some monster peeking in on you. LOL read more

I wish I had enjoyed our stay since we will have to return to the Burbank area continually throughout the year. The double queen room itself was not bad. Comfortable mattress. The bathroom wall deco looked like it hadn't been cleaned. With splashes of who knows what on it... we had to request for our room to be cleaned and that never happened one time during our four night stay.. In Covid times one would think the opposite should happen. I complained during my check out and all I heard was a sad "sorry"... really?!? Are u really sorry... my guess is NO... so sadly I will not return to this hotel read more
