I have had Dr. Kuma for all 3 of my children pedestrian. I am going on a little over 16 years with…read morehim. I am Extreamly picky with doc. Yes he is old school doc. Some of the things about laughter in the waiting room is not true he likes it to be quieter not loud he does like being able to hear his patients some children talk quietly and if people are to loud he cant hear the children. Yes he is scrict. But he is also efficient. Some times i am sure he has explained stuff to a mother once before n may feel she is not understanding or being firm enough so. Male will be as thats normally a fathers roll. As for his staff being a single mother with 3 kids i have seen staff come and go. So far i feel that Dawn Diana and the other guy that was their is the best ones he has had. In that office. But we also know that people life change the two woman were mothers both married maybe they are on vacation or they decided to venture ok out of fl. Be patient with the new people they will learn like all the rest. Since dr. Kuma prob has to train them and take care of our children At the same time I am sure at Times it gets flusterating as it would for any one. In 16.5 years Dr Kuma has been kind caring and understanding to me and my children. He has helped including fincially and worked with me when i had no insurance. He has taken the time to call and check on my children when they have been really sick always called and had a bed waiting if needed at hospital if my children were not geting better. He has also done phone fallow ups to check on them. I am not sure how many doctors were do that anymore i am sure their is not many. Dr. Kuma is from another country his belief are not the same as some people. He is sometimes hard to understand butif you dont understand tell si he can make sure you do. Being a young 17 year old mom he is the only Doctor who has alwYs explained things to me and made sure i understood him and what i needed to do. He made sure i understood to eat right and how to nurse my children right. He actually cares about the kids and not the money. Unlike 90% of doc today.

"Greeter" states office left msg to arrive 20 mins early yesterday and she'll reschedule me for my appointment. Five mins early for agreed upon appointment time and I'm late. Hey Docs! Let's try a novel approach: Agree upon a specific arrival time ESPECIALLY if you're gonna turn away patients for not showing early enough!! UPDATE: Received calls from Lifton's staff wanting to reschedule (). However, stuck to we texted and emailed you re showing 20 mins early. Newsflash - texting and emailing does NOT ensure receipt especially wrt FL's elderly population. Shame on you for turning patients away for showing up NOT EARLY ENOUGH!

I waited six months to get my mother, who has Alzheimer's, into this neurology office. We arrived…read moreon time today and were given paperwork to complete. The man at the front desk looked at us when we walked in, I provided my mother's name, and he handed me a clipboard without saying a single word. Not exactly a warm or helpful start. As I went through the paperwork, the first page stated that only two people are allowed to go back to the exam room. I had my father with me as well -- he also has Alzheimer's -- so leaving him alone in the waiting room was not an option. I went back to the desk and explained the situation, expecting some understanding from a neurology office that routinely works with patients who have cognitive impairments. Instead, I was told "sorry, office rules" with no flexibility or attempt to find a solution. Anyone who works with Alzheimer's patients should understand how unsafe it is to leave someone unsupervised, especially in an unfamiliar setting. Since they refused to make an exception, we had no choice but to leave -- after waiting half a year for this appointment. This office showed zero compassion, zero accommodation, and zero awareness of the needs of the very patients they claim to specialize in. I cannot recommend them.

The first time I saw Jeff was at his office in Punta Gorda. A day when my only working hearing aid came apart from the ear piece. A time when I was budgeting in between jobs. Seems those are the times most of our machinery have issues. That day Michelle the office manager greeted me, listened to my issue, then dashed off down the hallway. She returned with a box full of ear pieces ranging from all sizes. Each one uniquely different in the slightest variation as far as the eye could see. After several attempts, we managed a temporary solution. Jeff came to the desk to introduce himself. His tall structure and his neatly pressed white coat made his entrance seem like a guest appearance from General Hospital. He listened to my situation and insisted I follow up with him. Our agreement needed no exchange of information. Only a handshake. I returned to his office for my annual hearing test. He remains my primary hearing provider. Unlike the doctors on soap operas. Jeff was someone who believed in old fashioned integrity. His work ethics shows he genuinely wishes to better peoples lives. I suppose it takes a special kind of listening to be a great hearing provider. And sometimes it takes a hearing impaired person to clearly see those qualities.
