**One-Star Review for Courage Kia, Lowell** I had an extremely disappointing experience at Courage Kia on December 18th. I visited the dealership to address an error message regarding my front left turn signal, even though all signals were functioning. Since I had just purchased the vehicle two weeks prior, I also requested a full inspection for peace of mind. Initially, the service team informed me that the headlight would need replacing, and they claimed it wouldn't be covered under warranty due to a scratch on the right headlight, quoting me $3,000 for the repair. I pointed out that the issue was with the left turn signal, so why would the right headlight need fixing? After some back-and-forth, they abruptly changed their story, stating it would be covered under warranty and providing me with a date for the part's arrival. However, the day after my visit, I noticed what appeared to be damage on the passenger side door, which looked consistent with a lift point. Concerned, I called the dealership immediately, and a manager told me to bring the car in at 7:45 AM on December 20th. This was quite an inconvenience as I live two hours away in Asheville. Upon my arrival, the service representative was initially helpful and acknowledged the damage. He mentioned that they would need to schedule a visit to the body shop and apologized for the inconvenience. As we began filling out the paperwork, a man from the back office interrupted and asked about the issue. I explained the situation and showed him the damage. What followed was shocking. He outright denied that the lift could have caused the damage and aggressively asserted that I had done it myself. He pointed to scratches on the undercarriage, claiming they were evidence of a wreck, completely ignoring my explanations and the condition of the opposite side, which showed no damage. His demeanor quickly escalated; he began berating me and yelling. For my safety, I started recording to document the interaction. As tension rose, I told him that he was being unreasonable. He then said I was banned from Kia and dismissed any concerns I had about my warranty claim, insisting it was "my problem now." His face was inches from mine when he yelled at me to leave, which made me feel threatened. I walked to the parking lot to call Kia of America for assistance, and he continued to shout threats regarding trespassing. To my dismay, after this encounter, I received paperwork indicating that my warranty claim for the headlight was denied due to the same scratch they initially mentioned--on the right side--and the fact that I had considered seeking legal advice because of the treatment I received. The behavior exhibited by this head service manager reflects poorly on the entire Courage Kia dealership. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior at any business, especially early in the morning when I was seeking assistance. I strongly advise potential customers to avoid Courage Kia if you value respectful and courteous service--it's simply not worth the stress.

I've corresponded with 5 dealerships that asked me stop by to start the process and they don't even have the truck or any intention of locating since I wasn't physically there. Toyota of Gastonia was different, Dan Matkin send me an email and asked me to text him what I was looking for. We spend about 20-30 minutes texting and he was able to locate a truck and came to an agreement on the trade-in and purchase price on the vehicle. Granted Dan give me an estimated trade-in on the assumption that I was truthful with the condition of the SUV, the price was more than fair. I called and spoke with Nick Thompson and left a deposit on Friday and was called on Monday to inform me the truck was ready for delivery on Tuesday. We stopped by and dealt with Kevin Brown because Dan wasn't available, but he had handed Kevin almost all the paperwork and there was no bait-and-switch tactical involved. I was initially a bit reluctant, but Kevin was a great guy also. I was initially sold on the 2.9% for 72 months, but the promotion ended a day before while they were transferring the truck from another dealership. I did confirm the promotion rate ended through other dealerships as well, so it wasn't their fault. The best they had was 3.9% for 72 months, but Nick Thompson was able to meet me in the middle due to my credit score and off we went to the finance manager at the sister dealership at Mazda in well under 30 minutes. We planned on transferring the plate from our existing SUV to the Tacoma, but didn't realize that that wasn't possible if my wife, who financed the SUV, wasn't on the loan also. So in the middle the singing we had to start over again to add my wife to the loan and registration for the Tacoma and spend an extra 30 minutes. Jay Kumar, Finance Manager, had another customer waiting but never appears to be frustrated and he educated us on the different service contracts but was never pushy. We left after 90 minutes after arrival to take delivery of the Tacoma. But it doesn't end there, a few days later we received a tin box with cookies which were actually pretty damn good. I also had to text Dan again to get an official odometer reading so we can cancel the existing service contract on the trade-in. He responded promptly and still provide excellent customer service, even after the deal had already been closed. Buying a car at Toyota of Gastonia was by far the easiest and fastest car purchase experience for me and I've purchased new on several brands such as Acura, BMW, Honda, Nissan, VW and now Toyota. As with anything in life, your miles may vary. It all depends on who you get on the other end of the line. Dan, Nick, Kevin and Jay are definitely assets to Toyota of Gastonia.

I looked in NC, TN and even in Georgia and found more than we expected at this dealership. I have made several purchases of RV and automobiles at large dealerships in the past several years in the Charlotte area. I have to be honest I was worried about going to a small dealership but discovered a real gem. They not only had the best price on the Jeep, but they gave us what I wanted for my trade-in without knowing what I was going to accept. No harsh haggling, pressure or guilt applied by anyone. Brian Watts was our sales person and he was wonderful. The sales manager and everyone else we came into contact with were pleasant and you could tell they enjoyed working at this dealership. We were treated with respect, no high pressure sales and were not chased down on the phone to make a purchase. From the moment we arrived at the dealership we had the best car buying experience ever. The entire 2 hours it took from walking in the door to driving home in our "new to us Jeep" was a pleasure. If you are looking for a better experience when buying a car... this is the place. I gave them a five star because they deserved it! Debbi and Chris Carroll, Mooresville, NC

I strongly recommend AVOIDING McAdenville Motors…read more I purchased a truck from them at the end of January, and as of today (March 19th), I'm still dealing with issues they promised to fix -- along with serious new concerns that should have been disclosed upfront. At the time of sale, the passenger-side mirror was broken and held in place with zip ties. The salesman assured me it would be replaced, that the part was already on it's way and they they would have it re-directed to my house. After weeks of waiting and no communication, I followed up only to find out they ordered just a small mirror piece -- not the full assembly we clearly discussed. A full replacement is costing me around $1,200. It gets worse. When I took the truck to a Ford dealership for a recall, they refused to perform the work because the windshield had already been replaced with an aftermarket one -- something that was never disclosed to me. A day or two before taking the truck to the dealer, I noticed water pooling in the passenger-side floorboard. I assumed it might be a clogged A/C drain, but after inspection, the dealer had to pull up the carpet and found sand and water underneath. I've now spent $2,000 out of pocket just to investigate and clean this up -- and I'm left seriously questioning whether this truck has prior flood damage despite having a "clean" Carfax report. Between the failure to follow through on promised repairs, lack of transparency, and the unexpected $3,200 in costs I've had to take on, this has been an incredibly frustrating and concerning experience. If this is how McAdenville Motors treats their customers, I would strongly advise you to take your business elsewhere.

During my employment, I took on responsibilities far beyond my original role, including Sales Management, Internet Operations, CRM development, F&I support, training, reporting, and process improvement. My employment ended over a vehicle transaction of my own. Prior to that deal, I had previously purchased vehicles through the dealership and worked my own deals without ever being disciplined or told it violated company policy. Management was aware of those transactions. When this final deal became an issue, I was told I had violated company policy. I immediately requested a copy of that policy and was never provided one. I was also required to reimburse the dealership more than $1,200 for a loss on the deal. Although I disagreed with how the situation was handled, I paid it because I wanted to resolve the matter and continue working there. I believed the issue had been settled. The following Monday morning, I was terminated. When I asked why, I was told I would not be given a reason. As a manager, I had personally reviewed numerous deals with losses substantially greater than the one used to justify my termination. Based on my experience, those situations were handled differently. My understanding was also that the pricing discrepancy involved in my transaction stemmed from an accounting or pricing issue rather than something I intentionally created. After my termination, I repeatedly requested clarification regarding the reason for my termination, the policy I was told I violated, and questions regarding my final pay. I did not receive responses. The only communication I did receive from HR was a warning that if I did not return my dealership key by a specified deadline, it would be reported as stolen property, despite my already agreeing to return it. Throughout my employment, I also experienced management situations that caused me to question the consistency, transparency, and professionalism of leadership. What disappointed me most wasn't losing my job--it was the lack of communication, accountability, and transparency throughout the process. Employees deserve clear expectations, consistently applied policies, and honest communication when decisions affect their careers. This review reflects my personal experience. Others may have had different experiences, but based on mine, I cannot recommend this dealership as an employer.
