Absolute worst haircuts I've ever had in my 60 years of life. I had JEN as a stylist and she absolutely ruined my hair. Just cut random chucks out as though she had never cut hair before. No blending, no thining of bulk areas, just straight line cuts. I have longer hair for a man and she actually said to me as I sat down in the chair, do you mind if I used a straight razor to cut your hair. That should have been my clue to run. And I'm like no, I don't want a buzz cut. Just trim it up. Then her first cut with sissors was 2" straight cut on the top of my head, What in the world. And it just got worse from there. She was super nice and was such a pleasant person to chat with while getting pampered. I noticed that the salon took lots of safety / sanitary measures to ensure their client's safety: wearing masks, sanitizing every tool and counter, keeping the door open for proper air flow, and taking every client's temperature upon arrival. Many years ago I went to a salon in my area. Prior to my visit I had not colored my hair in well over 2 years and had long dark "virgin" hair. I made an appointment to add blond highlights with a stylist I had never met. I left the salon with my "blonde" highlights but definitely not satisfied. (I have quotes on the "blonde" because it was more like a copper than blonde.) My hair felt overprocessed and was afraid the "blonde" highlights were going to break off. After spending as much as I spent in the salon for my visit, I went back to see if there was anything they could do to "correct" the color/highlight session from the other stylist. I explained what happened and was immediately offered to meet a new stylist to "fix" my hair. I was then introduced to Melissa as the "color expert" and she made my hair look and feel amazing! I have now trusted Melissa with my hair for over a decade. She has seen me through many different styles from long to short and many different colors of the rainbow. My hair is thick and coarse so needless to say it is very hard to work with. Melissa never let that stop her. She is an expert at getting my dark brown (ok, it's practically black) hair to blonde without it breaking off AND feeling silky (WHAT? Is THAT really possible?). She would never let me leave the salon until SHE was satisfied with the way it looked. I was seriously upset when she decided to leave the industry. I am so glad she has come back and that she has opened her new 100% Eco-friendly salon. This salon represents so much of what I know of Melissa: her giving heart, her thirst for enlightenment, and her creativity. If you're in the area (or planning to be), I would definitely recommend making an appointment to come and visit the salon. I had a very bad hair dye experience from a stylist in Kings Beach and called Coupe Sixty-one as they offered color correction services. I spoke to Melissa the owner who calmly outlined what could be done and not to worry as there were options. I booked a consultation with Talia. Talia confirmed my assessment that it was a mess but not the worse she had ever seen. Talia independently re-iterated Melissa's course of action so I felt comfortable with the steps taken to remove the ebony color from my salt and pepper hair. Two days later I was in the chair and Talia worked her magic without frying my hair. The result was better than I could have ever imagined. Absolutely perfect blend into my natural hair color. As an aside, Melissa took the time to introduced herself to me and check in with the process. Brittani Murray was the MOST amazing, sweetest, cutest, best styled hair stylist I've ever gone to. I booked an Ombre and a haircut on a whim, and decided to spice up my hair. She brought me tea, didn't mind that I had to work while she did my hair, and she did the MOST amazing job! I don't really color my hair often (maybe once every 2-3 years), so its important that its subtle and will grow out well. Brittani achieved this perfectly. My hair is also long and straight - and I prefer a low maintenance hair cut that allows it to dry on its own but look beautiful (but I have a lot of fine hair, so I don't like it to look too straight at the bottom), she achieved this as well. Everything I read in the Yelp reviews is true. Not only did Melissa do an outstanding job with my hair color she took extra time to trim and style my very thin hair. The entire experience was wonderful starting with a mini-neck massage accompanied by scented oil, then I was handed an iPad for my entertainment. While my hair was being conditioned I received a hand massage. I also like the convenience of booking appointments online. Kelsey has been doing my hair for 10 years now (yes, even before she was licensed)! I won't let anyone else touch my hair. I give her a general idea of what I want and she's so great at handcrafting the perfect blend of colors! I like to refer to her as a mixologist of hair color! She's taken me from my natural auburn colored hair to blonde, to brown, to a deep burgundy, electric eggplant and then once I was over the maintenance of red hair she did the impossible and took me back to a color close to my natural color in only 1 process. Getting red out of hair is really difficult and we thought it would take a couple processes but I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't! She's also put extensions in my hair and blended it very nicely with my short hair. I could go on forever, she's terrific! Most people place getting your hair cut in the yoga/massage column. Most of the time I would but it in the taxes, going to the dentist column. Maybe not as painful...but sitting still, under a blow dryer, coming out smelling like my mother is not my idea of a day off. So when I finally made the appointment and showed up I was excited to get lunch at one of the 3 options just feet away from the salon after...I figured it was my reward. At least I would get lunch out of the deal. Now I am eating my words because the appointment was a dream! They asked me what I did not what done, ie blown dry, etc. Yeah buddy no hour under the blow dryer! Served excellent tea and I smell fresh like a daisy.
