Excellent assortment of beers + terrific service + great hours = Country Wide Beverage. Soon after moving into the area, I found the need to stock my fridge with an assortment of beers, both for myself and for guests who might come and visit. A quick trip down Merrick Road took me to Country Wide Beverage in Valley Stream. Noticing the size of the place, I decided to journey in. Although the parking lot can only accommodate up to 4 cars (or perhaps 12 bikes), it's well worth the effort to come here. First of all, hours here are terrific! On weekdays, they're open as late as 9pm (and open as early as 8:30am). Compared to other beverage barns in the area, that's not bad at all! Second of all, the service is great! Especially with nobody in the store, the owner came over and asked if I needed any help finding what I needed. In mentioning I wanted to try a good stout, he showed me a few options and asked what my preferences would be for stouts. After showing me a few choices, he ended up taking me over to a part of the store that served Ommegang. Knowing a few friends, including Josh G., who visited this brewery in Cooperstown and has great things to say, I decided to give it a shot (and was very impressed that they offered that brand). The staff is very friendly, personable and upbeat. They're great! Finally, the beer selection here is immense! Looking for a good national staple (Bud, Corona, Guinness, Stella, Heineken)? They've got you covered. Want something closer to home like Brooklyn Brewery or Ommegang? No problem. Looking for a good German beer? They've got Dunkel and more! How about a nice ale from the U.K.? You can find Wells (including Banana Bread ale, one of my favorites) and more. I'm really just scratching the surface here. The options are immense! Prices here are not all that shabby either, very similar to what you might find at other beverage barns. Between the service, hours and beer selection here, there's no reason to pass up this venue. I'm a fairly regular customer in this place so I was surprised to be treated the way I was this morning. Went into grab two big bags of ice and didn't have any cash. The total rang to $11 and they have a $15 minimum for credit cards, which is illegal. I asked her to take it and she had an attitude. And then when I said you're just gonna not take my business and let me walk away, she complained that I didn't put the ice back with an attitude. Nice customer service and there's plenty but will be distributors around town!! read more

Exceptional selection on hard-to-find German beers. I was welcomed warmly coming into the store, and upon checkout invited to come back to sample their special varietals which change regularly. Great experience, and I think I'll take the gentleman up on that offer. read more

They have a decent selection, but unfortunately they don't correctly update their Beer Menu. I went there looking for stuff they didn't actually end up having. They also have my biggest issue, not selling six packs broken up. You have to buy the entire thing instead just single bottles. Granted, their bomber bottle selection is good. They also have a good selection of Schlenkerla. Smoked beer, or in other words, "bacon" beer. Literally smells/tastes like bacon when you drink these beers. Try them out. read more

Excellent beer selection!! The place is deceptively huge. If you're looking for something specific/harder to find, odds are they have it. I was looking for Founders Mas Agave everywhere, and not only were they only place in the area that had it, they had the entire selection of Founders beers, including Kentucky Breakfast Stout and Canada Breakfast Stout. They have a small parking lot, but a fantastic selection (and a large refrigerated section as well). read more

What can i not say about Ben and Kevin. Always helpful...always knowledgeable. My secret spot to find my hard to find craft beers. Staff is always helping and nice. Open on holidays for the last minutes opppps I forgot stuff. Also great Growler station!! read more

the website www.countywidebeverage.com is a scam page that redirects you to another page the second time you click on it. the redirect webpage claims to be a warning from Microsoft that your computer is infected with a virus that is transmitting your credit card number to a pornography web site and it says that you must call them immediately at a number that is on your screen to remove the virus. the scammer says if you close the page they will be forced to disable your computer (scare tactic). DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM YOU CAN SAFELY CLOSE THE WEBPAGE DISPITE THE WARNING !! I called county wide beverage and they said they do not have a webpage. read more

I have been shopping at this store for a few years now and go back for the variety and service. The store has varieties of beer you won't find too many other places on Long Island and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have had a few parties and they even deliver (ice included)! My husband loves the "growlers" as they offer different beers on a rotating basis that we might not have tried before, and it's not a big investment, so it is fun to experiment with their recommendations. Also important, it cannot be overlooked that the store is very clean and always a pleasant shopping experience. Prices aren't bad either. read more
