NEVER EVER GO HERE! They use the term 'beer distributor' to trick people into visiting. You can get the same Victory Golden Monkey 6 pack cheaper across the street in Mobil OR Stop N Shop. Want a Bud Light pack? Go to 7/11. This place takes your thought that the beer place will be cheaper and abuses you for it. I was really excited to find this place especially with their great selection of craft beers, seltzers, spritzes etc. If you want to go wild and experiment, this is the place to do so. Staff if friendly and lines are usually quick moving. You do have the option to mix and match cans. The reason for the docked stars is a lack of transparency in pricing. I was charged 30 dollars for 4 16 oz beers, all local (bluepoint, south shore, and finback)and marked at being 4-6 bucks a piece online by other stores. Paying the same price I would if I were sitting down at that exact brewery (plus the tip) seems a bit excessive to me. Sometimes I've also made it out with more for less or vice versa. The depth of selection is impressive (probably overwhelming for someone just dipping their toes into craft beer), the pricing is spot on, and they have some seriously nice guys working at this place. Monarch has all your local craft staples (e.g., Bluepoint, Montauk, Greenport) offered at incredibly reasonable prices ($9.99-$11.99 for a 6-pack). Already worked your way through those offerings? Fear not -- these guys bring in great product from across the country. Everything from Burial and Wicked Weed from Asheville, NC (viz., beer heaven) to the more-commonly-available Stone Brewing. The guys here are great. If you are just getting into craft beer and/or are generally lost when it comes to selection a beer that will match your palate, the staff here will take the time to curate selections for you. Just let them know your flavor preferences and they will steer you in the right direction. I have sent in multiple friends who have had a vague feel for what they are looking for and they have all left happy and returning for more. So the recycling area-- no human should be allowed in here. It's an arm pit. The attendant is quick but the machines are always stacked to capacity. If there's one person in there just walk away-- you'll never get out. The beer selection melts my heart. I loved how they had a free glass per check in. My collection is great! how the eff did it take me so long to review I place I go to at least three times a week. Don't judge me, if you lived two minutes away from here and liked beer, you'd be here all the time, as well. I can seriously get lost in beer docs. They have a great selection of beer here, and it changes quite often. While I don't particularly love some of the seasonal brews, they do have all those mochachocablueberrypeppermintaholicchristmassummerales you crazy kids are drinking now-a-days, and all sorts of additional stuff to experiement with. They have the staples, of course, and the rehydrating beverages. They have a sale rack, too, which is fun. The beer is close to being funky in some cases, but you can try some fun beers that would most likely cost double. this place is like cvs for me, if you let me loose in here with no supervision or no list, I'm going to spend 85 dollars and not know how it happened. read more

One of the best selections of craft beers I have seen on Long Island. Guys at the register know about a lot of them too. Now they have growlers which is cool. I've never been hassled by any of the customers that another reviewer spoke of. OK, editing this and downgrading a star 3 years later because there is no web presence. They are on beermenus,com but they don't update their growler offerings there. I work in Woodbury near Syosset Beverage who do update and also have an up to date website (not to mention coupons) and I would rather know what is offered ahead of time when I am going for growler fills. Best craft beer around! I frequently travel all over LI to distributors trying to get something different or hard to find gems. These guys always have something I want. They have a great selection of all types of beer including sours (which is rare). The staff is awesome! They are helpful and when it comes to beer they know their sh*t too. There taps are always revolving with great local craft beer. I usually stop in 2-3 times a week and in the 3 years I have been going there only once have I walked out without buying something.
