My family and I have been going there for years. I always thought it was maybe just me the way the register ladies treated me. My daughter went again to get some wine and said they are the coldest dry individuals she has had to deal with. I will drive 10 miles out of my way to go to total wine and deal with the parking before I ever go back. The workers at total wine are helpful and polite and are happy you are doing business there. It's always sad when you try to support a local owned business and they treat you with no respect for doing business there. We tried for years and nothing has changed. Cappy's has recently become my go to spot for my Tequila and Wine re-up. I've driven past it hundreds of times, but only recently decided to check them out. Glad I did! They have the buttery Chardonnay that I love that is hard to find elsewhere. They also have a wide array of liquors at discounted prices and the staff are all friendly and helpful, which is refreshing. The service is also fast, no long lines. Can't go wrong here. read more

This is my go to spot for wines and spirits. They always have the staff in the store to answer questions or check the stock. Even the cashiers will check, when I've mentioned something I couldn't find to them. I had the occasion to need a high end Cabernet which they keep in the back. I was finished my shopping and the wine was waiting for me at checkout. They also have a rewards program that I appreciate. I was able to get $75 off my purchases from accumulated awards right when I needed it. I really love Cappys and am so happy they are close to my house. Same old Cappy's! When COVID hit, my wife and I were hesitant to go out to stores, especially small shops that have narrow aisles like Cappy's. Still, we wanted to support our local small businesses and decided to order curbside pickup. Since then we have returned to the in-store experience, so I have reviews for both. Curbside pickup was, to be honest, a bit awkward. In the end it worked out fine but it seemed a bit disorganized. The process was to call in the order or order online, then head to the store when the order was ready. We did and ended up parking in the lot, then calling inside to say we had arrived. After about 10 minutes nobody came out, so we called again. The employee then came out with our box but didn't know which car to bring it to, so I walked out to the employee, verified my info, and walked the box to my car. The in-store experience is just like it used to be, except the employees now wear masks, plexiglass has been installed at the registers, and social distancing markers are in place for the checkout line. Other than these few additions, the store feels a bit crowded at times, and the narrow aisles make it tough to keep socially distanced. Regardless, I'm sure we'll keep on returning. Cappy's Warehouse is a gem, and I love how organized and helpful the staff who work there are. In the past I have stopped by to pick up something for my husband and I, picked up for larger Christmas parties, and even ordered mini champagne bottles for my wedding. All have been pleasant experiences. Often times on the weekend they are doing wine tastings, they get me every time. Who doesn't like trying something different or new? Their prices are great - from my experience nothing has been overpriced. Naturally they are less expensive than the smaller liquor stores in the area. Nasty guy who obviously doesn't want any customer judging by his poor attitude. It's nearly impossible to get anyone to help you find 10 different liquors and wines which I fully intended to buy, but couldn't get anyone knowledgeable to help locate them in the store or tell me any information. He brags about how many customers come there, but his prices are not low the way they used to be. Not worth your gas to go there, and by the way, it's WEST Merrick Road, fyi, otherwise it's not easy to find, which is good -- pass it right by and keep on going ELSEWHERE. No waiting on the registers. The store also offers online ordering for pick up. More and more stores are offering this service. There is a small parking lot out front. Best liquor store in the game . Not just because it's around the corner from my house.

I have been meaning to update my review...Cappy's must have moved over a year ago now! It has a larger home right next to Crawford Animal Hospital. As if it wasn't packed already across the street, this location is always busy. It is a little weird getting in and out. Small lot, crammed spots, one ways and exits and entrances. Can get a bit nutty! Selection is still amazing and the staff is great now. Friendly and accommodating. There are usually tastings of some wine/spirits which is always a cool thing. On my last pre-Easter visit, I noticed this contraption that looked like a water fountain. I walked over and it is like an instant wine cooler. So basically if you pop in for a last minute dinner and your party appreciates a chilled wine, hold in the water for just 5 minutes and you are set! Super cool! They also have a club card which is awesome for those who buy in bulk. Discounts baby! Being a graphic artist, their logo is a tad outdated and would LOVE to re-design but, this is the place to go for great deals and service. Total fan. read more

This is the best liquor store around. Luckily it is around the corner from my job, and 5 minutes from my house. They have everything you are looking for FOR CHEAP! My friends can not believe how low the prices are, I usually have to stock up for them. This is a great place to try new things and with this economy, get great priced gifts! I think it's difficult to find a decent liquor store so I'm very happy that Cappy's is around because it is nice! They have an extensive selection of wines, vodka, rum, etc, and my favourite Porto and Port wines. It's a sizable store with spacious aisles of liquor. Things are easy to find because it is very organized. I've never had to ask where anything was. There's a nice selection of cheap wine (under 10$) and fancy classy wine. I've sampled a few of my favourite kinds of Porto wine (from Portugal) including Warre's Warrior Porto Wine (16.28$) and Cockburn (Ruby or Tawny) Porto (11$). They have a top shelf section that looks good and I want to try a few but have not tried them yet. I've been to a lot of different liquor stores on Long Island and I always use Cappy's as a base line comparison because they seem to have the best priced liquor and wine. It's a shame that their cashiers aren't very friendly. I hate to have to deduct a point because everything else is top notch. The cashiers always seem to have a stick up their ass or something when I come here and that's pretty lame. They're rude and generally unpleasant. I recommend coming to this liquor store if you're around and even if you aren't, I'd say it's worth the trip. read more

Was very very excited to go check out Cappy's, given the raving reviews I've seen, as I go to the vet next door to them. Went to pick up my pet's medicine and drop it off in the car before entering the store, when a woman came out and started scolding me like a child for parking in the lot, saying I'm taking spots away from customers. Looked like she was waiting for me to get back to my car - was an ambush attack, haha. Cappy's is a very good liquor store with an extensive selection of wines, vodka, and various other types of alcohol. It's very big and spacious with rows upon rows of spirits and booze. Everything is very organized, with each row dedicated to a specific category. They have cheap wine that is under $10 and really fancy wine that would certainly burn a hole in your wallet. My bf and I like to come here to buy Porto wine. So far we had the excellent Warre's Warrior Porto Wine for $16.28 and the surprisingly great Cockburn Ruby Porto Wine for a mere $11. We also had an interesting blueberry porto wine and other great wines for under $20. I've have never tried their top shelf bottles, but they offer a vast selection of reasonably priced wine. The wine and spirits at Cappy's are certainly competitively priced. You can easily find something here that is slightly cheaper than what another liquor store is charging. The only reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the rude and irritable cashiers they have working there. Every time I came here, I've encountered a cashier (I am not sure if they were the same person) who have been rude and unpleasant. Like another yelper, the cashier was snippy when I asked for a receipt. In another occasion, my bro-in-law said that a cashier was giving him attitude. She helped me order mini champagne bottles to be given out at my wedding. She also ordered a case of specialty wine simply upon my recommendation. This is a business where the employees truly cater to the tastes of their customers. Cappy's is always evolving to keep up with technology and convenience. My new favorite addition is the instant bottle chiller they provide free of charge. If you pick up a last minute bottle of wine, you can have it ice cold in a just a few minutes!
