We spent two nights here recently and came away happy about a few things and upset about others…read more The bottom line is we would not recommend staying here, and we'll try to offer some clear reasons why. But first, we want to report that we had several good experiences here. One, the front desk staff was very friendly; two, our room was clean and smelled fresh; and three, the bedding and pillows were comfy. That said, let's get to the troubling aspects... For starters, as some of us have mobility issues, we asked for a first floor room. We were assigned 108. Only it turns out that's one of a number of rooms actually on a second floor. AND THERE IS NO ELEVATOR HERE. We couldn't change rooms and were forced to walk up and down two flights of stairs. Unacceptable. Next, the toilet would not flush back-to-back, and it took at least five minutes before a second flush would work. Next, the internet was not merely slow but we were required to re-connect every few hours. The front desk could not explain why. Lastly, our room keys disabled themselves after every use. Again, no explanation why. The complimentary hot breakfast we found inedible: chunks of some sort of egg substitute, tasteless sausages, altogether terrible both mornings we stopped by. So let's stop there. We won't even mention the tight parking issues. (There is a pool; we did not use it) We just want you to be cautious in booking here and beware of the motel's condition and problems please. We appreciate the nice people behind the front desk but too much else here was disgracefully bad.

Oi! For $280 I expect a clean tub, a room that doesn't smell of cigarettes....Or have the base…read morecoving in the bathroom peeling off due to water damage, have @100+ cigarette butts on the ground within 10 feet of the room door that opens up to the utility parking lot, and looks kicked in a few times, to be at least located away from the long term 'residents' at the property. I would guess that mere mortals could walk in the foot steps of Jesus and walk on top of the water in the hot tub...it would be no miracle however. There is a direct relationship between the number of stars and the cost of being here. The place is not clean...by any standard. They should change the motto to 'a room for a night....or a lifetime'. Sadly, that may be one and the same. Move on to the next place.

If the Motel 6 in State College is King, then this Econo Lodge is the Queen…read more Before going any further, we need to make a couple things painfully clear here. This is a motel. Not a luxury suite, not the Grand Plaza, the Ritz or the Hotel de-whatever. Not even a condo or a bed and breakfast. It's a motel. A.K.A. a cheap, efficient pillow to rest ye weary head. Or in my unique wording, a road tripper's temporary digs. When traveling I'd much rather spend my time out and about as opposed to hours in a room. And while there are certainly inns and hotels specifically dedicated to romantic R&R trips, it would be foolish to expect anything along those lines from any motel whether it be Econo Lodge, Motel 6 or Days Inn. What can and should we expect? Good service, cheap pricing and a clean room in a safe environment. With that said, this location provides all of the above and more. Located on RT 7 it's the perfect distance from downtown, local attractions and shopping plazas. I found a great special online for $80.00/a night for a king sized bed which I didn't hesitate to click. What we were treated with was more like an apartment than what I was expecting from a lowly motel suite. With literally two giant rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen bigger than the one in our last apartment, I was absolutely delighted to kick it back for the weekend. The kitchen sported a counter complete with bar stools, mini-fridge, sink and actual cooking range while the living room had a fold out couch, lazy-boy and TV. The bedroom was pretty large with another TV, desk, large mirror and ample room to hang clothing. Sadly the bathroom wasn't anything to scream about: the tub was a little smaller than the other locations and the light was a little on the dim side. All okay considering the rest. Everything was relatively clean and smoke free (which made me happy) although there were a few cracks in the walls here and there. Again, considering the rest, I could care less. In addition, I'm psyched to report everything was 100% bug free. I had a fantastic weekend and even saved a reasonable amount of money stashing our leftover dinner food in the fridge and purchasing breakfast goodies from the market up the road. The staff was also a big plus. The woman behind the service desk was utterly a delight: very friendly and more than happy to make recommendations on places to eat and visit. However, there were a couple minor annoyances I discovered. Unlucky for us, our rooms were located at the end of the building on the bottom floor which unfortunately meant that every time someone walked up or down the stairs, we could hear it from the bedroom (the second door was literally right under the stairs). If they happened to run or stomp, it felt like a marching band. We were unable to hear anything at all from the living room meaning most of the problem was coming from the bedroom door's location. Also, the peeps in the suite above us (non-smoking may I add) took the liberty to light it up anyway, causing an icky smoke stink to drift into our bedroom on Friday. Lastly, keep in mind the ice machine is located in front of the lobby and the overall design of the bedroom was pretty dated. Clean and comfortable but.. well.. sinfully ugly. Overall though, the pros outweigh the few nitpicks several times over. Exemplary service, apartment sized accommodations (for 80-bucks!!) and a beyond perfect location make this Econo Lodge an essential in any road tripper's map. I'll definitely be back in the future.

The bed was made very nicely though. That maid (or is housekeeper the politically correct term?) should get a metal. Like a burning hot poker, right in her buttocks. Second room- clean sheets, with the occassional errant hair. But this is to be expected of a place that has an "out of order" sign on their continental breakfast dispenser. If I was told that I would grow 3" in a special region of my male anatomy and lose 30 pounds in my sleep for staying here, I still would not enter that property again. Instead of bringing pajamas, you should sleep in a full hazmat suit with the breather and glass face shield. Oh, the thing I liked the best about this place... was the lack of hot water. It was very comforting to know how dirty the room was, and that even a hot shower to cleanse your body and soul would not be happening. I bet there is a murder in this hotel soon, because it looks like the kind of place that would be in a Court TV reinactment.
