UPDATE: After my review, the owner emailed me. He did not answer a single one of the many defects…read more Instead, he accused me of using a higher than real amount invoice for an insurance claim. Here is the invoice story. We paid in full on September 20, 2024 -- $45,700 in total, on a signed contract of $26,700 ,and asked for the invoice the same day. For two weeks I followed up more than ten times, by phone and text. Nothing. When something finally arrived, on October 2, it was not an invoice. It was an "estimate" for $50,000 -- more than I had paid. I rejected it in writing that same morning and demanded an invoice for exactly $45,700, "without any discrepancies."
Accusing a customer of insurance fraud, in writing, without a shred of evidence, is a serious thing to do. I have kept that email, and every other email and text between us. In two years of emails, he has never once signed his own name, not even on the email accusing me of fraud.
New discovery: more than one independent GAF Master Elite roofers have inspected this roof since. The deck feels soft underfoot. The old deck he tore out was five-ply wood that came off in whole, solid sheets; it did not need replacing. His own paperwork promised new plywood "same size." What he installed is the cheapest grade of CDX, stamped 15/32 of an inch -- a half-inch-class panel full of knots and voids where the inspector says a roof like this should have 5/8. Premium price. Lowest-grade material. Not the size his own paper promised.

Prestige Roofing & Construction replaced our roof in August 2024, full plywood deck replacement included, for $45700 -- with a 25-year warranty. Our contact throughout was Adrian Brati the owner who seemed reasonable at first and won our trust.
The agreed price was in the $20,000s. First day after opening only one section of the roof deck, we were pressured at our door to replace all of the plywood -- without the rest of the roof ever being opened for inspection. The total jumped to $45,700. Under New Jersey's home improvement rules, any change to the price or scope of work must be put in a written change order signed by both parties -- we never signed one.
Around the same time, I learned that the decades of company history we had been told about did not check out: the company had been registered only months before our project.
A bit over a year later, the roof started leaking during rain -- repeated water intrusion in two rooms: water dripping from the living room ceiling, caught with a bucket, and water stains spreading on the ceiling above the dining room. We reported it with photos and video. The problems persist, after light rain, water visibly ponds around the dormer base-there is no cricket, so the dormer sits in standing water. Their patch changed nothing about that.
In October 2026, in a preliminary inspection, an independent GAF Master Elite-certified roofer documented: Splits in the membrane itself, membrane delaminating and peeling at the edges, no cricket behind the dormer or chimney so water ponds with nowhere to drain, failing sealant around the skylight and window frames, and rotted wood patched over with caulk instead of proper flashing. I have photos and video of all of it.
Meanwhile, Prestige keeps saying they need to "investigate." Five months after the first leak report and two patch visits later, there are still no written findings and no permanent repair. I sent five specific technical questions in writing on October 14; as of today there are no written answers -- only "we'll call Monday to schedule another inspection."
