I had the chicken fried steak lunch special. Very tasty and crispy. Great mashed potatoes and gravy. Dessert was a nice touch and was included in the lunch special. I will be back! read more

If you happen to be at Lake Proctor and want some good cheap food this is your place. It is next to the Shade Tree which is a store across from the Park entrance. Look for the sign because it's easy to miss. We got the special which was fried fish, hush puppies, coleslaw, and French fries with a Cherry desert and a drink for 8.50$ if you get there early enough everyone gets a free cup of beans and oh my it is the high light of eating there. Staff is always friendly and they do take cares now. It's a dive but a dive with excellent food. It's also quiet enough to carry on a conversation. No real parking. Just park where you don't block someone else in. read more

The beans are amazing! Yummy and the food is very inexpensive. Service is warm and friendly. Atmosphere is country...laid back, no rush. Call in your order if you need it in under an hour. Worth it! read more

Pure country and great food. Beans are free with burgers provided you're early enough to get there before they run out at lunch. Occasional full meals are great. Hate to tell too many people about this I always want to be able to get a seat. The place is small but cooking is great and the people are very friendly. read more

Took a step back in time at this little country cafe. It's laid back so don't get in a rush, but when you see the price on your bill you'll think it's 1980. Seriously, fed breakfast to my family of 4 for $20! The staff is super friendly and the food is great. PLUS... Country Pickins has the best beans in Texas! Go early before they sell out! read more

We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Crêpes, Quiche Lorraine, Ham & Cheese Crêpe, and finished with the Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Crêpe. Everything was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Each dish was also presented so elegantly, which made the experience feel extra special. We also really enjoyed the quiet, small-town atmosphere and walking around the square afterward, reading the dozen or so historical markers and learning a little about the area. We're so grateful we decided to stop here while traveling through. Delicious food, wonderful service, beautiful presentation, and such a charming atmosphere.
