After a round of golf we met 2 other couples and went for dinner. The had a single musician playing at the time. Sorry we were sitting almost next to him. He was very good as the place was rocking and full. Great songs but being a packed house and the music it was too loud to talk. Should have moved to a quieter place in the bar. the soup was shrimp bisque that was good. Dry ribs as an appie were good. I had the prime rib burger with garlic fries. The burger was great but really disappointed in the garlic fries. Came warm, and I should have sent them back. The salmon burger was great and they advised they would get it again. Fish tacos were good as all of them were eaten. The turkey club was loaded to the point the person who ordered it took half of it home. The salad was big enough to feed 2 of us. The place looked a little run down and I suspect it is well packed every night and the food was good. Will go again and try something different next time read more

Went here on a week night and to my surprise, we were the only customers there aside from another table of two that was leaving. I ordered the rib eye steak and asked for medium rare with veggies and salad. My other half ordered the beef dip which he raves about and enjoyed. The steak was okay but it wasn't medium rare but medium. I was famished but still enjoyed it as it was flavourful. The salad was good and so were the veggies. Service was okay. Just returned from an Aquafit Christmas lunch at the Grille and am feeling full and very content. (I think I'm purring actually) We walked into the most beautifully decorated lobby, replete with festive trees and lights. The dining room was not only beautifully decorated, but also had a live piano player on a grand piano. We felt like we were in a Hallmark movie. The Jingle buffet had a nice selection of appies, mains and desserts. The server was charming, efficient and accommodating, pleasing our vegetarian in the group by procuring a separate dish from the kitchen for her. We love this place! A friend and I went for a Saturday supper. It's a lovely place and the setting is 'on par' with a high end restaurant. The menu and specials offered a good meal, and the wines were local and very good. Our server was delightful, and very prompt with food and drink. The only downside had nothing to do with the place or the food, but other customers: three young men who thought everyone in the restaurant who thought they would impress everyone with the number of times they could say 'f..k' loudly. Just played course 06-04-21 the course was a wee bit wet, no big deal. The greens are well kept, and the putting green is super smooth and fast, with interesting ondulations makes for good strategy. All in all, I was very satisfied with the course, although short but challenging enough. We finished right on the mark of 3 hours, just behind the ppl in front... no lag time. Country Meadows Golf Course is probably one of my favorite golf courses in Richmond to have lunch on the patio, strictly for looks. The setting is relaxing and I can easily stay here for an hour taking in the scenery. The food, however needs some huge improvements. Halibut Entree - Fish was terribly dry, mushrooms were fine and the greens were bitterly old. Prime rib - not tender and average. It was medium rare like I asked for though. Octopus Appee - too salty Fish and Chips - Only thing edible and tasty Verdict: If you must visit, go for the drinks and bar food to enjoy the atmosphere outdoors, but skip everything else. read more

Country Meadows has a beautiful golf course but also a fantastic and affordable restaurant! I have been going here for many years and I have to say that the food here beats all the other chain restaurants in Richmond by a long shot! (Earls, Cactus club, Moxies, etc) Whenever I want to stay in Richmond and feel like American (Canadian...? haha) food like fully loaded nachos, yam fries, wings, potato skins, pasta, fish, etc, I usually come to Country Meadows for a quick meal! The prices here are very affordable (appies on avg $6-8, entrees on avg $14-18) and prepared very well with mostly local fresh ingredients picked from their very own farms! My favourite dish here is the seafood linguine, which is packed full of salmon, halibut, prawns, scallops and various grilled vegetables. It's also covered with delicious gooey cheese and topped off with a piece of garlic bread as well! Their potato skins are seriously amazing and I love their seafood chowder. The staff here are very friendly but occasionally they may be a bit understaffed so service may sometimes get slow. The restaurant is very quaint and welcoming so you'll find a lot of regulars here who come for dinner several times a week! My company had our golf tournament here recently and for the recent past years and they have always been above par! It is a great course for beginners to intermediate players. A good variety of sand traps, ponds and distance that isn't too difficult but provide enough of a challenge! The food was really good for a dinner buffet that included bbq steak, chicken, salad, cooked veggie, lasagna and bread. Hope to come here again before the summer weather ends! read more

I'm probably never coming back again. Ordered an 8oz NY striploin and got something close to a 6oz. The steak was supposed to be medium-rare but got a nearly well-done steak. There's definitely too much oil on the plate as well. Picture says all. The reasons: - It is not a long course because it is executive sized. - It is "pretty" , because it has heart shaped flower beds on the first hole, and even a heart shaped green on the back nine. - It is lit up with Xmas like lights in the evening Lots of company tournaments are here because of the smaller intimidation factor compared to a full sized course. We came for brunch with my sisters and friend but there wasn't any real brunch or breakfast items offered. Can you imagine if they served breakfast? OMG, it would be great! For lunch or dinner, eating on the patio is great! It's got a beautiful view of the fairway and some of the water features! The food itself here is just okay though. I ordered the Fish Burger (15.00). The fries were crispy enough, as was the foccacia bun that they used with the burger. The fish itself was also crispy, but REALLY greasy for whatever reason. It was also drenched in a lot of mayo, though despite that, it seemed to be a bit lacking in flavour. This is my first time golfing and I had an absolute blast! We went on a Friday at about 6:30 and there wasn't a lot of people on the greens (or as I called it "the fields"). We were going pretty slow as I was playing and learning. Caution! There are geese on certain areas and the guy in front of us (not purposely) hit a line drive into the side of one of them! The most sad thing ever! Poor thing was on its back squawking and I thought he was dying the goose couldn't get back up but the gentleman went over and helped him. He walked away with a limp but seemed to be okay... Anyways next was the restaurant. Food was delicious but service was lacking!! Waitress didn't seem that interested with our table. This was a lovely place to spend a 1yr anniversary for a quiet late night dinner. Their salmon we had to unfortunately send back (it was the salmon with curry dish). The salmon was too overdone and the curry too overwhelming but the butternut squash ravioli was delicious and so were the appetizers we had (calamari & tuna tataki) Great ambiance their staff was very friendly and the piano player for the night was very engaging and would come up to our table and greet us personally and ask for requests, which I though was a really nice touch I would definitely like to visit again and explore their menu read more

Terrific executive length golf course and very well maintained greens and fairways. the price is one of the best in town, friendly staff, and pretty good dining/patio restaurant to boot . They also have a nice practice green and pitch shooting area. the nets for the range could use some repair though ...that is most only critique of the place. The Restaurant at the course is lovely and of has great ambience & views from the patio. The staff has always been gracious and kind. I highly recommend eating there. Tonight (June 3, 2017), we made a last minute 7pm reservation. We arrived, was given a table front and centre of the restaurant. We sat for 10 mins without anyone acknowledging us. Not a hello, offer of drinks, nothing. I had to go up to the reception desk to ask if we had a server. The hostess herself tooknout order and THEN the server came to us. No apologies, no nothing. I have golfed at country meadows for many years. It was a beautiful well cared for course in the past but has gone downhill in the past 3 years. The restaurant is now closed and the course is in poor condition. The tee boxes are terrible and the bridges between them are is disrepair. i hope that the owner and management get this back into shape soon. read more

Sorry golfers....I do not play so this has nothing to do with the course. Actually, this is about Country Meadow's restaurant. Big surprise. Went there for a cozy work function -- drinks and appys on their patio on a gloriously sunny evening, complete with beautiful views of the lush greens busy with golfers bustling about trying to hit their best stroke. Behind us was a banquet tent packed with a party celebrating an elderly lady's birthday. Did not expect this much action at a golf course. Pleased to see that we chose a happenin' place! The food was actually not bad at all. While it is not a Michelin grade restaurant -- no she-she fancy-shmancy culinary tricks, Country Meadows is about basic, honest dishes made with fresh and real ingredients. Well, I certainly expect so, given that they also have a market down the road -- Richmond Country Farms, which I have always liked. Nice spot. Wouldn't mind checking back for brunch or just casual eats on sunny summer days in a pretty setting. Very relaxing. If I was a golfer I'd give this 4 stars, because I would be able to fully enjoy the beautiful course plus the eats. read more

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT, NO IDEA ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE. Walked in to this classy place with my Rainbow sandals and shorts thinking, I definitely under-dressed for the occasion. It was a temporary detour due to traffic and this place had a fantastic view, and classy rich ladies taking a break in what I presume to be from the difficulties of living the life of a trophy wife while their husband are off hacking away at golf balls. Had NACHOS and POTATO SKINS. Coming from California, the nachos was laughable. The chips were soggy and the ingredients were lukewarm, leaning towards cold. How do I know? The cheese was coagulating. Yikes, not a good sign. The potato skin was good. I would've enjoyed it more if they had more sour cream, but that's just a personal taste. They did have ample bacon on top of the potato pieces. Our waiter was non existent for the latter half of my 40 minute dining experience. From such a classy place, I would've enjoyed it more if the waiter was more attentive, but then again, I shouldn't be asking for too much since I straggled in looking like I was lost. Dang.... This place has a killer Christmas buffet... but today.... Not going to drag this one out, but yeah I'm giving it the old one star salute. I made a reservation for my work meeting and showed up to get setup. The lady showed me to a table that was already occupied with people I didn't know... mistakes happen not a problem. My team of 8 then waited at the front for another 10 minutes while two other parties were seated before us... it made me look bad. Then we ordered and it took 30 minutes for appetizers to arrive, and then another 20 plus minutes for food after that. The sentiment at the table was that the meal/meeting was way too long and people were wasting their time... which we all were by the end of it. For a business lunch spot, you need to be more on the ball and turn meals over in 30-40 mins.... not 75... sorry guys but I give a one star for organization. The servers are nice enough, food is okay, but I'm giving you my first one star rating on yelp because you were too slow and glossed past my reservation. Quirky place , good food, reasonable prices. We were a party of four and all of us wanted prime rib medium rare. We were surprised and amused that it all came medium well! Suggest ordering Blue and maybe you'll get medium rare. It was tasty though. Also, the waitress forgot our appetizer order and brought us the main entree. When we asked, She was apologetic and admitted to forgetting to place the appetizer order. Oh well, c'est la vie. The wait staff all seems like kids from the neighborhood thus I cut them some slack. This review is of the grill/restaurant not the golf course. The view is quite nice overlooking the greenery and fountain. We ended up here for our annual Xmas lunch. The Xmas buffet is simply so-so to average. It consists of a 5 item buffet and terribly pathetic salad selection (not salad bar). It has regular greens and romaine lettuce as a caesar salad, that's it. The hot food items included some roast turkey (often too tough), some cooked veggies such as broccoli, green beans, squash, and carrots. These items were in fact the best of all the food offerings at the buffet. There was baked Atlantic salmon, oven roasted mini potatoes, and a pasta dish, The desert items was placed at the entrance to the restaurant. The staff are either overworked, understaffed, have no motivation or a combination of them all. The food items were not readily not replenished. Only when patrons asked for them to be refilled did staff take action, that includes your drinks such as coffee or tea and even the cranberry sauce. Service was rather lame. What was ridiculous was one of the employees looking kind of unpresentable came around the buffet station and talked to himself and said that this and that was empty. He then later came back with a small plate and started picking, choosing, and then eating right there with his fingers while standing up. It was a rather unsightly site. On a positive,the food items were generally fresh but there was not much selection. I guess for a $20 lunch buffet you get what you pay for. Still, the service sucked big time and what happened with one of their employees just standing there at the buffet station in plain view of their customers eating with his fingers was completely unacceptable. Additionally, judging from the dishes other customers ordered, it seems they make some decent burgers and fries here. This restaurant is consistently inconsistent. I have been here many times and had both great and awful meals here. Last Wednesday evening, we just wanted to grab a bite. It was a toss up between White Spot (which I do not care for at all) and Country Meadows. Country Meadows it was. I like the room. The patio is very pleasant in the summer. The service is friendly, if sometimes a bit amateurish, but they aim to please. The burger was not great with the slimy lettuce on it. I have enjoyed some good burgers there before. The fish tacos were...Meh. I've loved those fish tacos a few times in the past. One evening several months ago I sent back two meals. The rib special was inedible as the ribs tasted boiled, and were tough and grey. I think the sauce was slathered on just before serving. I decided to try the steak with prawns. I asked for medium rare and got well done steak. Not edible. You would think that the manager on duty (the one with the long blonde hair) would visit a table that was so clearly unsatisfied. No. We gave the server a big tip because she was delightful, and, it was the kitchen's fault, not hers. And, her manager didn't support her or care about the customers. Yes, we keep going back there. We keep going back and trying it again because the location is central for our group and the grounds/on the golf course are wonderful! The problem is the management sucks...the last few years we have yet to get good service. The place needs a good cleaning AND a staff overhaul. The last time we went...we ordered wine...the server poured 1 glass and put the bottle down for us to pour our own - NOT GOOD! (..was good for a laugh thou) The food is just OK - we have the same thing each time cause it's a safe bet. I really did drive to Richmond, BC, or as some people call it... ...well, I could insert an Asian joke about this point, but I really have no issues with the ethnic mix of this region of Canada, especially considering that I inadvertently stumbled into the last bastion harboring the city's white community, a walled enclave called Country Meadows Golf Course. I wouldn't normally have turned in except for the signs insisting that anyone was welcome to eat at their restaurant, The Grille. Not the most original name. My navigator was directing me to pass the location, to soldier onto my ultimate destination, the Colossus Cineplex. However, despite being surrounded by a multitude of stores, I found not one place to eat there. With over an hour before the showing, I turned the car around and made back for Country Meadows. It is a beautiful place, an island of immodesty in an ocean of unharvested plywood. There's a rutting dark bull frozen in pose before the entrance. I'm the only one looking up at the architecture as families, elderly couples, and businessmen shuffle past glaring at me like I'm an Asian at an all-white country club. In honesty, I do spot a few here and there, but with 65% of Richmond being minority (yea that makes sense), this tastes as being a little unrepresentative of the city's demographic. I wander in and am broadsided at the quality of workmanship inside. It blends that bizarre aristocratic country sensibility, the kind where people welcome you into their home and end up showing off the wood in the bar, with those antique family restaurants that continue so survive against the onslaught of franchise mediocrity. Most of the main floor is dominated by an empty stage, one which I knew would puncture my ear drums if occupied. But this isn't a family restaurant, not exactly. It's a strange mélange of family and fine dining with a mix of pub thrown in for good measure, like it changes its definition depending on the day of the week or the time of day. The waitress offered a menu but immediately sold me on the soup sandwich special for the day, costing a mere twelve bucks. With it, you also receive a glass of cola so tall, that it casts a shadow like a Kubrikian monolith over the rest of the meal. The sandwich was a massive bun shoehorned with meat and melted cheese and was the best I may have ever tried in a restaurant environment. Boy, do I know how to call them. Even though I was thirsty, I had no capacity to finish my drink, this Burj Khalifa-sized coke with an undertow. The service was great; the food was better, and now I feel bad given my arrogant remarks at the beginning. The only time I ever golfed, my twelve-year old nephew beat me, and I've never been able to hit a ball more than 200 yards in my life, and only then, it was a simulation golf course where you smack a ball to a projection twenty feet away from the tee. I don't care for the game and find it boring and unnecessary, sorry to all my Scottish friends out there...yes, I realize that I have no Scottish friends. However, this should not detract you from trying the Grille Restaurant at Country Meadows if you happen to be driving to the Colossus and realize you have an hour to kill. So much better than Earl's, Cactus Club, White Spot, etc. Appies are tasty & plentiful esp the garlic prawns & the potato skins are to die for. Absolutely on the order each time we come in to have dinner. Must be earlier than 6:45 pm weekdays to make sure you have their prime rib dinner. Our table had the last 5 orders from the kitchen tonight & that was before 7 pm. Yahoo. Best is to order the 10 oz prime rib. I was so full I ended up bringing home 1/2 my dinner. Went there for lunch today with a reservation for 11 people. Imagine how disappointed we were when our group was split into 2 tables. Had we known beforehand, we could have easily had our meal at another venue. However, they did not show us the courtesy to inform us at least a day before as we left our phone number during reservations. I find it hard to even give this restaurant 1 star. We sat for 25 min before someone even came to take a drink order (we had to stop a busser to ask for a wait staff). The staff had no leadership on the floor. Once dinner finally arrived, one of our party ordered a second drink. The waitress brought it after she had cleared the table. The drink was returned and we asked for the bill. Suffice to say that once we received our bills, it took another 20+ minutes to have someone arrive with a machine. Some of our party left cash and walked out before we even saw a server. The restaurant was not busy. Lots of staff roaming around with absolutely NO coordination. Terribly run.
