Based in the heart of Sunnyslope, this place has a right to be rough. It's run by an Arabic family, with the son running the register most of the time, and who I am assuming is the father running it the rest of the time. Yes, many items (if not most) are expensive. But it's a convenience store, not a discount store. The employees can seem a little rough around the edges, but when you have tweakers and crazies coming in all the time, looking to scam and steal, you'd probably be a little jaded, too.
There is a huge beverage selection--soda, energy drinks, coffee drinks, etc. No beer, and I don't believe any wine, either. But you can purchase some freaky contact lenses at the front, as well as a myriad of paraphernelia...if you're into that sort of thing. Personally, I come here for the subs, because they are one of the top five deli sandwiches I've had in the Phoenix area. There is a college student named Russell who mans the deli most of the time. His subs are the best. There are a couple of gals who also work back there, as well. The store advertises burritos, but I've never tried them. The white chocolate raspberry cheesecake is delicious, and the hot pickles are pretty tasty, too.
As a regular, the guys here are usually pretty friendly with me, and not with a creepy perv way. I came in wearing a hamsa awhile ago, and the guy ringing me up chatted with me about the hand of Fatima.
It's a jewel in the ghetto. Swing by for a sub. read more
