There were 3 planned, hands-on activities for the children (this group included mostly children 8-9 years old), and there was also some "free time" in a large open room, so the kids got some movement. That same room was used to test out the childrens' completed take-home projects. Each of the planned activities was set up in a room with tables and chairs, with one person overseeing each table. For two of the activities, the children took home what they made. There's a party room in the back of the space with a long table, plus space to set up a cake and other snack items. In addition to birthday parties, IdeaLab also offers after-school care and summer day camps, set up by age group. We signed my grandson up for a week of summer camp. There's a wide variety of camp choices, but we expect many will fill up quickly. IdeaLab Kids seems to be a great option for children to have STEM fun in a hands-on environment.

It's a relatively small group of kids which he likes and he has freedom to be creative and exposure to so many new things and also has made some good friends there. He played chess for the first time there and came home and beat me! I've also found it to be the most flexible and most convenient camp in our area which is honestly why we chose it in the first place. We can drop off as early as 7:30 and pick up at 6 which is so helpful for working parents. They also serve snacks and a catered lunch so we can order ahead and don't have to worry about bringing lunch. Adam the owner is super communicative and accessible if we have any questions or need any help at any time (just a phone call or email away).

The owner picks very high quality staff (teachers, I'm pretty sure) and trains them very well. It's not just a camp, it's a giant leap forward in your child's social, emotional development and problem solving skills. But the kids would not tell you that, they just love that they are having fun! I love that they get out and explore nature and create stuff out of recycled materials to solve fun challenges. They also learn the vocabulary of growth mindset and team work. The only drawback has been the location - but they've already fixed that by expanding to additional locations. Oh, and yes, it is one of the most expensive camps, but it's worth it!

I live in Cedar Park so it was close to my house. There is the perfect amount of space and the space was ideal for setting up the food and having places for everyone to talk and eat. I hired a catering company to provide the tea service; they provided almost everything needed for an amazing tea but we were able to use some of the Kitchen House's dishes and supplies to fill in the few items we needed. The space was generous in size; parking was free and there was plenty of parking. The space is light and airy; the bathroom is spotlessly clean. My guests and the catering staff were raving about how great the venue was. The rental process was very easy and the rates very reasonable. I would be very happy to rent this space in the future for other events.

The main advantage of the class vs. training them myself is that KH is a dedicated teaching kitchen. They are equipped and staffed to show kids how to prepare many dishes over the course of a week, whereas I have the time, energy and ingredients to maybe teach them one thing. I'm glad we signed up for this and will be back next Summer for another class or two.

After figuring out the complexities of summer camps, I went in person at 10am on the first day of camp registration. I waited in line for 30 minutes. When my registration information was collected I was told that my child got into camp. A week later I was called and told that my child was on a huge wait list and that they didn't get into camp. Of course this meant it was too late. All the other sessions of the camp were full and I'd booked the rest of the summer. I am really disappointed. They are doing nothing about it other than "fixing thing for next year".

Fortunately, the Austin Nature & Science Center ended up falling in the latter category. The main building houses an assortment of bones, shells, and rocks (as well as an axolotl tank) and another building is home to various reptiles. Outside areas include a dino pit (where kids can dig for fossils) and several animal enclosures. What makes the latter unique is that the animals are rehab/rescue cases. They include everything from a bobcat to a porcupine to a 34-year-old one-eyed owl (!!) and more. Granted, Austin Nature & Science Center does offer more for a younger crowd, and it isn't particularly easy to get to by bus, but it's hard to argue with a chance to take in flora and fauna for free.

Then you can head over to the birds of prey, the reptile/fish building, and the animal enclosures. There's also a little lake and a large sand pit (dino dig). There's a cool room in the visitor center that has all sorts of nature items (bones, dead bugs, shells, rocks, etc.). You can bring in your own stuff to trade! Is it a huge amount of things to do/see? No but for a free attraction, it's pretty great. Parking is across the street -- lot is shared with Zilker Park and all the nearby attractions so it can get busy.

The owner has since reached out via email, but the verbiage is just as hostile as her response here and officially saying we're not welcome.

After talking to a few pest companies, not only did they get the species of ants wrong (acrobat vs carpenter) which affects the bait being used, but they also can't get their story straight. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service.

Instead of simply treating it, they let me know so I could have the bees safely rehomed before they started producing honey inside my walls. That level of care and attention really stood out. The quarterly exterior treatments have been well worth it for me. Wasps and ants are a recurring issue around my home, so keeping up with regular service has made a big difference. If I have a specific problem between visits, like a wasp nest, they're quick to come out and take care of it. Most of what I need is included in the annual service. Mosquito treatment is an additional charge, but that's separate from the standard plan. I also appreciate that they don't push unnecessary interior treatments when there aren't any issues. Their pricing is competitive, and their payment and scheduling system is excellent. It's easy to manage appointments, and they're very responsive by text whenever I have a question or need service. Overall, I've been very happy with Atex and would definitely recommend them.

My Takeaway Apex delivers on availability and technical competence when you're in a crisis. However, I'd strongly recommend getting multiple quotes if time permits, as their emergency pricing appears significantly above market rate. The convenience of immediate service came at a steep premium that I wasn't prepared for. Would I use them again? Only in a true emergency where no other options exist, and I'd request detailed pricing breakdowns upfront. For future customers: Get clear, written estimates before work begins, and ask about all potential additional fees.

I recently moved to Austin for a new job. I have a 33-months-old son who had been at his previous daycare since he was 6-months-old. He loved everyone there and had grown up with most of the children in his class. I was very concerned that the relocation to Austin would be particularly hard for him. It was for me because I had the utmost faith in the previous daycare. I had little time to compare and shop around for schools in Austin and I had no friends to consult. I pretty much had to do my search online. I discovered Country Home Learning Center during one of my searches. Initially, I thought they were only located in San Antonio but soon discovered this was not the case. I viewed the video they had online and was amazed at ALL they offered. I thought, "if the Austin location offers half of what was displayed, it would be really nice." I gave them a call to get more information. The young lady who answered the phone was so nice and helpful. But the location, though near my home, would be out of the way for me to travel in terms of getting to work. So, I was still a little reluctant and decided not to schedule a tour. I called another facility that would be more convenient travel wise and offered a pretty similar program. I scheduled a tour for that evening. However, the Country Home facility would not leave my mind. So, I on a spur of the moment decision, I decided to stop by the facility before I went to look at the one I scheduled. Even though I had no appointment, the young lady remembered talking to me earlier and gave me a tour. The facility had ALL of the programs and amenities that were shown in the video. I was very impressed with the number and variety of learning supplies they have (games, puzzles, books, props, stuffed animals). I loved the indoor gym and the indoor playground. The amount of resources is wonderful. I kept my appointment with the other facility. And though they were pretty much comparable to Country Home (though Country Home offered a putt-putt course, indoor theatre and had much more in volume and variety of resources) and were more convenient for me, I decided to go with Country Home. But I cannot say enough about the staff. They are amazingly kind, helpful, considerate and have sooooo much affection for my son in just a few short weeks. They love him. More importantly, HE LOVES THEM!! It has made the transition so easy. The first few days, he was clingy and cried when I dropped him off but would not want to leave when I collect him in the evening. I still have to bribe him to get him to leave each evening and he is eager to get his day started at the school. The other day, he sat me down and handed me a spider specimen glass and a magnifying glass, then got the same for himself and proceeded to show me how to use the magnifying glass to view the spider. This from a two-year-old. Awesome! Finally, for all that it offers and the wonderful staff, the Country Home Learning Center's rates were way less than the competitors. Two snacks and lunch are included in the rate. All of the meals are outstandingly nutritious and "yummy for my tummy" in the words of my son. The Country Home Learning Center is a hidden diamond and we are very thankful to have discovered it!! read more

I love country home learning center and so does my little boy. My son has been going there since he was 10 weeks old. It was a week before i had to go back to work and the person that was going to watch my son, backed out on me so I called country home and they had an opening the monday after i was supposed to be back, but on those 2 days prior I was able to drop him in and it was a blessing for me. I love the infant room and I will never forget Ms. Ann. She took him in like he was her own grandchild, she was so good with him and he just adored her and all the teachers in the infant room. They were always good to him and he was always happy. Even now almost 3 1/2 years later my son loves it there. He is a very happy little boy, being there has helped socialize with other children, learn many new things and cultures, they are truly amazing. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I walk in there and a teacher will say Hi to my son, but my son never had that teacher before but the teacher knows him. Almost every teacher in that school knows who my son is and that makes me feel good, because I can drop him off in the morning and go to work and know that my precious little boy is taken care of, well taken care of. They have also worked with me during some hard times and been just really, really good to me which means the world to me. I coudl not recommend a better daycare. Ive met other people that have their children there and I have never heard one bad thing about this daycare and I hope to keep my son there until he is ready for school because that is just how much I admire what country home does for these kids. Knowing that my son is happy and healthy and loves being there, as a mother I could not ask for anything more that what they have done for me or my son. My family and I love Country Home Learning Center. We are greeted daily with smiles and warmth. The staff has become nothing less than family to us in the 3 years that we have been attending. My daughter looks forward to going to school every day. The hustle and bustle of the morning can be hectic but the teachers are so good at soothing her during our separation. She has had amazing, patient and kind teachers. She was potty trained in less than a week by Ms. Minnie. Ms. Yannette has helped my daughter learn and develop her Spanish which uses on a daily basis. I am amazed at how many words and songs she is familiar with now. The communication with her current teacher Ms. Marsha, has helped me to evaluated her progress and learn what to assist her with outside of school hours. Ms. Marsha consistently works on her skills and has given her a true sense of confidence in her abilities while developing her potential. My daughter loves sharing what she has learned over dinner every night. The schedule at CHL is always consistent and organized which is very important for all children. She has been on multiple field trips in school and off-site. She loves participating in the holiday plays, class parties and educational projects. The teachers are so creative and I love that she has an actual schedule and is not sitting in one room all day. We have developed many loving relationships with the parents in the classrooms as well. I look forward to play dates and sharing our children's milestones together. The children are taught to work together and be kind to one another. Most importantly, they are taught to say grace before every meal. I can't be happier with the quality and care of the CHL staff. My daughter will be transitioning to Kindergarten at the end of this year and although we will miss CHL, I know she is more than prepared for her next journey. read more

We LOVE CHLC. This preschool is by far the best preschool in Austin. I consider the staff a part of my children's family. When I leave my twins here, I never feel guilty or worry that they won't receive the best care. My twins are 3 and they love it. They hug their teachers everyday when they leave and say good bye for the night. They talk about all of the activities they do. Every time that I pick them up - they're always playing and/or creating. CHLC is always clean and the staff are always happy!!. I get status reports every day on my kids' progress. Miss Minnie, the 3 year old teacher has such a warm spirit and all of the children in her class adore her. The school is very big and the outdoor play areas are even bigger. On a rainy day, they offer an indoor playground so the children aren't stuck inside. My twins have been going to this preschool for a year. They've had so much progress academically in this past year. They come home and sing their ABC's, they count in both English AND Spanish to 20, they love to read, and they recite songs that I know CHLC taught them. As a mom, I want the best for my children. I don't want to have to worry about them while I am at the office working long hours. If you are looking for a daycare that you can trust and depend on, choose Country Home! I found Country Home Learning Center about 2.5 years ago, and I have to say, I'm glad I did! My daughter (now six) was very unhappy with the day care that she was in, and I needed someplace reliable and safe for her to go to during the day. I did some research and found Country Home. I called and took a tour. I was happy to see how homey it was, and all that there was to offer, from the indoor playground, the water park, the mini gold, the cooking class in the 50's diner, the mini theater, everything. My daughter showed the first bit of excitement over going to school then she had before. Country Home has a great EXCEL program, which my daughter just went through. She is excited and prepared to go to 1st grade this year. The teachers and staff are really special--they have helped bring out the best in her, helped her get to where she needs to be for this year, and always make sure to tell me the everyday things that I miss while at work! I highly recommend Country Home. It was one of the better decisions I made, for my daughter's happiness and my peace of mind. My son has been going to Country Home LC since he was 18 months, he is 5.1/2. My Daughter has been going there sine she was 6 weeks old and she is 3 now. So I have experience in every level of care that this facility provides from infants to toddlers to their EXCEL program for kids entering pre-K to Summer Camp! My children have enjoyed every minute of being at CHLC. My son is more than ready for Kindergarten because of the wonderful prep class they offer and my baby girl is happy to tell me daily of the new things she is learning and most importantly of her experiences at the water park (her favorite ). My son is currently in Summer camp and goes on 4 field trips a week. The infant program is fantastic, I was so sad to see her move up to toddlers because her teachers were so loving and took such good care of her. I would not hesitate at all in recommending this wonderful facility. EVERYBODY in the office knows my kids by name and say hi as we walk down the halls.All in all, it is a safe, loving, educational, and fun environment for you kids to be brought up in- Sounds like home to me! There has been a very low turn over rate in the classrooms she has attended(she is almost 3) and all of the teachers have been caring, attentive, clean, and just all around pleasant to be around. This school has a lot to offer, and at the cost (and in some cases lower) than the cost of other schools I had previously looked at or that my child has been too. I've never once felt that they cared more about the money than the children, and that is a blessing considering at the 3 places before this one that is ALL they seemed to care about. You can drop off at any time in the day, that is a huge bonus for my family as our schedule is never a set one. Lunches and snacks are fantastic, very balanced. Over all, I would recommend this place to any parent who is looking for the perfect place for their child(ren) to learn, grow, and feel secure. read more

Country Home Learning Center is a wonderful preschool and summer camp! Our energetic 4 year old was needing a more active daycare and help preparing for kindergarten. He joined the Excel program and it was a perfect fit. The staff was so welcoming that he instantly felt comfortable and safe. The program was exciting and challenging helping him to learn and grow so much. At his kindergarten screening, he was happy to confidently show off all the things he now knows. Mrs. Darly is the most amazing teacher! When we arrive and walk the halls, he loves to say good morning to the staff who often greet him by name. The director and all the ladies up front are great and they really do care about the kids. He is now in the summer camp program and has a blast with all the fun activities and field trips. He is always excited to get up and go to Country Home Learning Center and exhausted and happy when he comes home with fun new stories. read more

I have 2 boys that have attended Country Home and I just can't say enough good things! My boys were eating lunch with utensils before they were a year old, interacting well with other children, bringing home art and sooooo much more important developmental activities that I could never list them all. I work long hours and my boys spend quite a bit of time there so it is important to me that they are loved and treated like family. The front desk staff never fails to give a warm "good morning" and "have a great evening" every time I pass through the door. Its reassuring to know that no matter how stressful my adult workday is going, my kiddos are enjoying their day with the amazing warm staff at Country Home. The classrooms are clean and well sanitized which is very important with all the toddler germs. We will be sad when when my youngest outgrows Country Home and starts school, but we will be back for summer camp! read more

We have been with Country Home since our daughter was 6weeks old, she just celebrated her 2year birthday. We absolutely love Country Home Learning Center! It was definitely nerve racking going back to work and leaving our smallest one in the care of others...but that is what has been so wonderful about these guys, they end up feeling like your family. All of the ladies at the front, the teachers AND Jose, the grounds keeper, are warm and caring and you begin to understand that they ALL deeply care about your child as if he/she were part of their own family. My seven month old daughter has been at Country Home for about 4 months. It has been a great experience of us. I was nervous about returning to work, but it has worked out really well. The director, teachers and all the staff have been so encouraging and engaged with me and my baby. There is such a warm and welcoming feel everyday when I drop her off and pick her up. I get feedback daily on what she's been doing, how she did that, if there are any concerns, etc. She is thriving at Country Home! Coming from a Montessori school, I was hesitant with the change to a "daycare". We immediately found out Country Home LC excels in both teaching and caring for your child. We have been here for two years now and my grandson loves it. We've encountered amazing teachers, as well as, very attentive, caring, and loving staff. My 4 year old has been enrolled at Country Home since he was 4 months old. He is now in the PreK program and we absolutely love it. He is starting to read words, he is learning Spanish, he goes to computers, loves the gym and outdoor activities. He even gets to go on very fun field trips. My son dropped in from Dallas during the Holiday Camp and loved it. Why isn't Country Home in Dallas? The staff made the time he was there very enjoyable. They went on several field trips, watched a movie, made cookies and played all types of gym games. When I picked him up he was still in that same diaper completely soaked. Was I asked the teacher how often she changes diapers she told me after 3 hours she puts the kids on the potty which I now is a lie. My son was standing in a corner of the room near the door whimpering when I picked him up I asked the supervisor how long he's been crying and how long has he been standing by the door? She said it hasn't been long since he's been crying and that he didn't wanna play with the other kids and he decided that he just wanted to stand by the door, which is absolutely not OK with me when there's a crying child. It's the responsibility of the staff. To comfort a child and make them feel like they are in a safe place this place is a disgrace the teachers obviously need more training and compassion and me training on how to handle children. The supervisor is heartless doesn't seem to care and is very very rude. I would not put my child in the center.

I posted rave reviews about Ms, Adella and recommended WY to other mom's. As soon as we found out she was leaving, I started looking for new care. The management is incredibly disorganized. I've overheard the GM yelling at her staff in an incredibly inappropriate manner. 7 people quit in 2 months. They are understaffed. You never know who will be watching over your child any given day. Some of the remaining staff are really nice. Even with that being the case, I did not feel comfortable leaving my child here.

What we received from day one was antagonizing, harassing discriminatory treatment from Erin director and owner with constant threats to kick our son out. 3, 2, 1, the branding and numbers on the front of the building, is the disciplinary action steps The Learning Center uses to push out a child before after accepting payments. 1 send the child Home for a day, 2 send the child home for 2 days, 3 ask the parent to take the child somewhere else. Before enrolling we were told this center was a private preschool it is not. I was made to complete more than 20 forms specifying my child's allergies etc that weren't followed. I put it in writing that we don't give our son cookies or sweets and received pictures this wasn't the case etc. For days in a row after paying $125 for an enrollment fee and $1125 for the month. Erin the owner would call us and ask that we come and pick up our son an hour after dropping him off for seemingly nothing at all. She also lied multiple times. The cameras in the center do not work to record only as a live feed for center owners husband to watch from home (what is this about). Day two of my child being at the day care I was called by Erin and told my son was behaving uncharacteristically and I needed to come get him at 9am in the morning roughly an hour after dropping him off. I was told my son was up walking around during story time touching toys and didn't return to his seat. Instead of getting 8 hours of day care on this day I got one. I explained that my son was in a Montessori for 2 years and I never had problems, and had been home with me during Pandemic. My fiancé and I decided this center would not be best for our child and we privately searched for another school to put him in. At this point in the final days I would ask teachers in heavily overly populated classes (1 teacher/ 20+ students) how my son behaved? I would get good reports and literally while turning the corner to leave the building be pulled into the front office every single day and told things perceived to be bad by Erin some examples include my son knocked blocks over, my son knocked over dolls from a chair, my son wouldn't share a toy he played with another student. While I paid for day care services, one day I came to the day care and sat and watched my own son for about two hours during which two white students sat at a table one with a sharp pencil in his hand pretending to stab another student in the eye. I pointed this out to myself and nothing was done but my son constantly was sent home. The heartbreak of it all is my 4 year has no clue why he was asked to leave the school every other day and keeps asking to go to school. I do not recommend this place, it's sad that as a mother I was dragged into the office with the centers owner daily to talk about stuff four year old boys do for hours at a time. Your son we to the bathroom multiple times, your son grabbed a toy from a shelf during center time please pick him up. My sons self esteem took multiple hits during an attempt at a four year old character assassination. Now thankful that I recorded audio telephone calls and videos of my interactions.
