My ONLY unhappy comment was they were out of peanut butter. Oh, and they have only 1 bathroom. The place is adorable. It feels like you're sitting in your grandma's dining room. The food was great! A lot of the breakfast options even offered 1/2 portions. That's great since this place is along the highway and most people aren't able to take leftovers home. Prices are even better. Coffee was fine. I wish they had real cream. Whenever we're in the Niobrara area we'll be stopping here. read more

Came camping to Niobrara State Park to check out the area and stopped by Country Cafe the morning after. Really cozy spot with great decorations and multiple large tables. I really liked how much this felt like a family establishment and it really was like sitting in my grandma's dining room, other than the fact that there were a ton of other people in the restaurant! Since I stopped in for breakfast, I had something fairly basic with the Eggs and Toast breakfast. I heard a lot of people love the Chicken Fried Steak here though, so it may be worth a try. I took a Caramel Roll to go for the drive back to Omaha and it was completely worth it. read more

Searching for great food? This is a great gem of a find!! My husband and I are on a cross country road trip with no plans, just winging it as we go. This is our first time in Nebraska and started searching for food and saw this place and decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! This place is super cute, and the food is freshly amazing. Called to hear the menu, since they don't offer one online, was greeted by a very rude person that turned me off from even trying the place. If you want people to eat at your place in this century, having an online menu helps, but having rude service staff is a guarantee your place of business is doomed to fail. read more

What a come back story from the floods. We are happy they stayed open. I had the special / chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. Comfort food to the top. Don't eat anything other than fried foods, the evening buffet, and dessert. Made to order sandwiches are a bust - as are the salads. We ordered two cheeseburgers only to find them flavorless and greasy. Disappointing to see a small town spot in farm country making a lackluster hamburger. Steer clear of their ranch and sauces. We had heard a lot of great things, and were excited to check it out! Four of us ate breakfast on a Sunday, opting to order from the menu as opposed to the buffet. The service (as others stated) really lacks something. Our waitress just seemed out of it and disinterested. An older gentleman was walking around to fill up coffee, and was very nice- even answering a few questions for us. Our waitress never offered refills, or checked back in though. The caramel roll was served cold, and the eggs and meats were average at best. My husband and I had the Chicken Friend steak with Biscuits and Gravy- it definitely wasn't handmade, or anything special. This place touts itself as locally sourced and down home but wasn't any better than a run of the mill Denny's. Breakfast for 4 was $56.00! We won't be back. read more

My husband and I were in town visiting some friends and stopped at Country Cafe for a quick breakfast. Wow, this place was delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy and he had the chicken fried steak. Small town small cafe thought it would be awesome like most small town cafes are. We walked in and the waitress was super nice. I asked for an ice tea and my husband asked for a Mountain Dew with ice. She brought two ice teas when I went to let her know it was supposed to be a Mountain Dew she got snippy with me and said no he asked for an ice tea. Then she was rude the rest of the time we were there. I asked for a burger well done, my husband asked for a burger and usually get med. He was pre-occupied and did t say anything else got his burger burnt. She never returned to the table to ask how things were and waited for my husband to go to her to pay the bill and then asked him. He just said fine as so we could just go because we had other places we needed to be. Didn't feel very welcoming like some small town cafes are. We won't be going back. read more

In the area for golf, not too many options for lunch but stopped here on a Sunday afternoon and had the buffet. It was excellent fried chicken, Salisbury steak, potatoes, lots of salads, brownie sundae for desert etc . All for $12. Holy smokes what a deal. The food was great, service great, talked with the owner about the recent flood so nice. Great little place if in this neck of the woods. Give it a try. read more

The food here was just okay. We had breakfast here--my husband had the 2-2-2 and I had the caramel roll and scrambled eggs. The caramel roll could have used a 15 second blast in the microwave. I make better eggs in my kitchen. There were 2 waitresses: a young one and an old one. The older one was rude, never checked on us for anything, and was slow at getting our requested items. She said they were really busy, but the place was only half full. We would not eat here again. read more

Place has very loud service. My Sister and I went in there for lunch one day. We didn't want the special and the cook and waitress rolled their eyes at us. Once we got the food they never came back to ask if we wanted a refill. All the locals got treated with kindness and got welcomed when they came in. Food was good but the service was so horrible that we will never come back. read more

We ate both breakfast and lunch here while in Niobrara for a wedding. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was yummy and reasonably priced. Lunch for me was the special -$9 - chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes (real!), green beans (not fresh unfortunately), roll, drink and dessert (AMAZING rhubarb & blueberry cobbler with ice cream). Breakfast for me was the buffet - fruit french toast bake, egg casserole, biscuits & gravy, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and caramel roll all for $10! Will be back if ever in town again! read more

Breakfast after camping at niobrara state park was perfect. Son and I had the full breakfast and coffee. Generous portion included perfectly cooked over easy eggs, sausage links, toast, and kitchen made hash browns. Happy to pay $19 read more
