I have eaten here probably 8 times now and just now writing a review. This is a nice hidden treat but don't let the outside fool you. Inside you will be treated like they have known you all your life. I have had eggs, an omelet, a biscuit and for lunch, pretty much all their options. Also the food is honestly a 4.75 / 5.00. The service and staff is a 5/5 The ambiance is a cafe /diner feel 5/5. If you are on the fence about coming don't be, give it a try. First things first. A quaint family owned cafe with the best crew working to put the best food on your table. I went here years ago on a regular and was fortunate to be in the area so I stopped in. Everything was the same. Same fam working, same layout, and still delicious food made to order. The menu has everything you'd expect for breakfast and then some. When's the last time you saw fried bologna on a menu. The lunch menu has plenty and there are at least ten specials listed on a white board. The Country Cafe is located on Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville. This place looks like it's been serving customers for at least 20+ years. The vibe is welcoming and homey. The Country Cafe serves breakfast and lunch. My dining companion and I arrived for breakfast. We were promptly greeted and advised to sit anywhere we wanted. There is both table and counter seating available. Our order was promptly taken, coffee arrived soon after. The service is swift. My dining companion ordered 2 eggs & sausage, which was accompanied with grits, and a biscuit. My dining companion raved about the grits. I ordered the 2 eggs & bacon entree, which was served with a warm biscuit, sausage gravy, and home fries. This is a generous meal and filled me for half a day! This is a smallish restaurant, but the staff are genial and welcoming. If we were in the area, we would surely return. read more

I was in the area and was looking for a diner and found this one in my search on yelp. Glad I stopped by. The place is a bit small but good spots usually are. I say myself and the server was asking me what I wanted to drink in a flash. I then ordered a cheeseburger and had a choice of side so I got the tots. Burger was really good with lettuce and tomato and the tots are always a plus. The food came out fast and they got free refills on drinks. Prices are very reasonable. On our way out of town to BNA, we needed to have some lunch. Stopped in to Country Cafe, and it did not disappoint. If you love comfort food made right (and we do!), this is the place. They've got a board listing their daily specials. We ordered a chicken salad stuffed tomato, pineapple fluff, chicken fried steak sandwich with fries and brown gravy, patty melt, cheeseburger and a slice of their damn good chocolate cake. We washed it all down with sweet tea and lemonade. It was all really good, just super tasty food but the standouts for us were the stuffed tomato, chicken fried steak and that brown gravy. Soooo good. The patty melt and cheeseburger were juicy, cheesy and toasty. Chocolate cake was indeed damn good. Worth noting is that it's a small place. We were there at 11:30 on a Tuesday and slid right in with time to spare. They do close at 2 pm, so dinner isn't on the menu. Otherwise, highly recommend! Service was fast and friendly. Came here before my flight from BNA. Quaint little dinner, big country vibes. Regulars shuffling through, and conversations in the background that are thoroughly entertaining. The sounds of the kitchen's pots and pans and the sizzle of the grill all make up the cozy atmosphere here. I wouldn't say go out of your way to make this a pit stop, but I haven't had a country fried steak with gravy in a long time and it sure hit the spot. I am giving four stars because the service was really good but the food was pretty average. The servers were all very friendly and attentive. This is definitely a hangout for locals--the servers seemed to know a lot of the customers in the restaurant. It's a no-frills, seat yourself kind of place. Only open Monday through Friday and they stop serving breakfast at 10:30. I was hoping for breakfast but we arrived about 15 minutes past the cut-off time. I went with a chicken sandwich and fries. The hubs went with a country-fried steak sandwich with mac and cheese. My chicken was pretty tough and the bun that it was on did not hold up to the weight of the chicken, so the bottom of the bun was pretty much smooshed flat. The fries were good--crinkle cut and piping hot! I was told that the country-fried steak sandwich was just okay and the mac and cheese was not homemade. Stopped here after getting off the plane to try a good southern breakfast. Really basic diner feel with a lot of happy customers. I grabbed a seat, and a gentleman wandered up and checked in on me. (Took me a minute to realize he was my waiter). Ordered a basic southern breakfast, food was fast, good and priced right. For a city boy from up north, I immediately felt the southern hospitality. Oh yes, this is the place where dreams are made. The quintessential greasy spoon diner. When you walk in you're taking a step back in time, and I like that very much. It gives a glimpse of how much smaller people were 50 years ago and how our success in excess has changed our body dynamic. Expect more of the same here. About as country as country gets, IMHO. I loved this place. Little diners are the best. They had lots of family running the place, with grandma even running the grill. The sweet lady looked like she was in her 70s or 80s but she was doing a heck of a job. The food is really good, all homemade, as far as I could tell. The biscuits were great, as was the blackberry cobbler. Lots of locals who just sat down and didn't have to order. The waitress just brought them their food and drink. I conversed with a couple of them, really friendly folks. The prices are very reasonable, the service is terrific and the food is very good. I wished that I'd ordered the chicken fried steak or the catfish (I was right between breakfast and lunch). They both looked great. The guy next to me was a regular and loved the catfish. I was at a loss of words for a bit about my post. I'll start with the staff. They were outstanding. Super friendly. My coffee cup never had more than two sips gone before it was topped off. I felt like part of the Country Cafe family. Food... They have what you would expect for a breakfast menu (oops, forgot the pic). I had a sausage omelet that was great (and massive) with biscuits, could also have toast, and gravy, could have also ordered grits. These came with the omelet. I also added a side of home fries. The gravy was food with the right amount of "bite" and was perfect on the fresh biscuits. The home fries were good but not wow or this would have been a five star. I had a seat at the breakfast counter right next to the cooks. The pancakes were fluffy and looked good as did the country fried steak. Good for you? Certainly not. Delicious? Absolutely. While on vacation in Tennessee I looked up breakfast places to eat and Country Cafe popped up and it was only 7 minutes away from where we were so decided to check it out. My group consisted of four of us and we sat down in a booth at around 11:40. A very kind waiter came to us and gave us menus and asked for drink orders. He additionally mentioned that breakfast was done at 11:30 as it was also on the menu. He told us the stove was turned off, cleaned and then turned back on for lunch and it was set at a higher temperature for burgers and what not. However he said we could order any breakfast item with the exception of eggs, French toast and pancakes. With this bit of news I was delighted because I was hoping for some breakfast as I had just woken up about an hour prior. We received our drinks promptly and my girlfriend ordered a sweet tea and I had to try a sip. The tea was so refreshing and crisp with the perfect amount of sweetness. It was the best tea I've had in a very long time. We went through a few of these! I ordered a chicken biscuit, home fries and a side of gravy. The food came out in a more than reasonable amount of time and it all looked amazing! I went right into my chicken biscuit and was astonished. The biscuit was warm, buttery and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. In between the two pieces of biscuits was a juicy piece of chicken that had a perfectly seasoned outer crust. I could tell my home fries were fresh right out of the heat and had the perfect, crunchy bite. With all this being said, I was most blown away by the gravy. While I only ordered a "side" of gravy for my biscuit my meal was accompanied by a 6oz bowl of country gravy! It was the perfect complimentary piece to my biscuit. The gravy had a creamy consistency and was flawlessly seasoned without an over powering sausage flavor or lumps. I had a significant amount left after finishing my biscuit and began to dip my home fries which I proceeded to do until I finished those as well. Two people in my group ordered burgers and both of them fell in love after the first bite. I tried a bit and let me tell you, they had reason to be in love. The burger was juicy and was topped with pickles, onions, lettuce and a tomato and it all made for a perfect burger. During our meal there the waiter was so kind and welcoming it just felt like a family member taking care of us. The whole cafe was welcoming and everyone had that touch of southern hospitality. I would highly recommend you visit Country Cafe but make sure to avoid the rush at 12:00. While in there we went from one of 2 tables and people at the counter top to almost a filled restaurant! The restaurant is a nice little country place employees are nice it's going to be the cook is a grease cook. Had the country fried steak and eggs with biscuits and gravy the gravy bowl was sitting on my eggs. I asked him to redo it without the ball being on my food and instead they just made new eggs I brought me a whole food. My son's bacon was nothing but Grease my wife sausage was nothing but Grease. You can make your own choice if you decide to eat here or not. My personal opinion is don't waste your money. read more

This is a hidden gem... I was here because I have never seen or heard of a restaurant that serves "fried bologna". They delivered excellently the fried bologna breakfast was awesome and the service is perfect. A true home cooking restaurant. Sadly I don't know when I will be back because I'm on a road trip.
