I went to the CELL's 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony and it was fascinating. As I'm looking for more ways to educate myself on international security, this couldn't have been better! John Brennan was really interesting to listen to, and I felt like Bret Stephens did a good job moderating and keeping the discussion from getting too biased. Looking forward to the next event! I also had a chance to check out the CELL's exhibit near the Denver Art Museum. I highly recommend - there are things that I never new about terrorism before walking through, and it helped me realize how important it is to learn more. read more

While I was in the downtown Denver area I noticed that this place had a sign out front that said "free admission" so I was like OK and went to check it out. I was expecting it to be like any other museum with displays and videos, but that's where it went off the rails. The first room is set up museum style but after you go through the big doors you are bombarded with fear mongering, giant video displays surround you with graphic pictures and videos of death, destruction, explosions, and violence. I believe the goal of this place is to either make you become xenophobic never step foot outside ever again or to become super paranoid and suspicious of every and anybody. read more

I arranged a tour for my undergraduate students at the CELL facility, and the students really enjoyed it! They learned a lot and said that they were able to relate what they learned to their criminal justice classes. This is not a museum. If your curiosity gets the better of you, go on a free day. The place is meant to scare the crap out of you, not empower or educate you. It's pretty much a propaganda mill. As a student of Political Science and International Security, I decided to go and check out The Cell exhibit after hearing about it on my campus. Upon arrival, my friend and I were pleased to see the exhibit offered a discount for students at only $5 a person. The staff was friendly and happy to explain what the cell is and what to expect throughout the exhibit. Let me start off by saying this exhibit is extremely powerful. I won't spoil the entire exhibit, but starting off inside is a display of an actual piece of the world trade center. It was an educational experience on the subject of terrorism and terrorism prevention. learning about the subject made it more exciting because most exhibit is hands on and interactive. The exhibit didn't make me feel afraid after walking out but only to be more motivated and alert with my community. My friend next to me walked out in disbelief because she didn't know about a lot of the current problems the world faces when it comes to terrorism. I highly recommend everyone to visit the cell and become educated on the subject. It's very important for citizens to raise awareness in their communities to help prevent possible future attacks from happening. read more

The CELL provides an interesting exhibit that is really a one-of-a-kind look at terrorism and its impact on the United States, Israel, United Kingdom, and other parts of the world. It is not a huge exhibit, but it is interesting and insightful. Worth visiting once, but probably not more often. read more

I have a passion for museums about conflict (like the Holocaust Museum in DC for example), and it's so cool that we actually have a place like this here in Denver talking about national security issues like terrorism in this type of interactive, immersive setting. Do a bit of emotional preparation beforehand, I'd recommend, as you will be seeing and thinking about some graphic, very real issues. But it's so worth the learning experience! The staff at the front desk is also super friendly and willing to answer questions about the history of various terrorist groups or about current debates in the field. I guess there is a museum for everything! This is one of those oddities, which they claim is the only one like it in the world. It is a documentary on the life after 9 11 and give you a chance to bathe in the memories. read more

Six classes (165 students), from Westminster High School visited the CELL exhibit on Dec 12, 13, 14. During a debriefing after the visit, students shared the impressions and learning they got from the exhibit. They listed the things they will "never forget" - high on this list was the 9/11 exhibit, the tools of the terrorist trade exhibit and the 8 signs of terrorism and directives on what every community member can do. We thank you warmly for the wonderful opportunity and congratulate you on your superior lesson plans (we were able to get through a few before visiting) which made the tour even more meaningful. Your staff professionalism was to be commended. We would recommend the CELL tour for every high school student in the nation. read more

Although the building is somewhat small, each room is carefully laid out in a manner that provokes deep thought and consideration. The examples of the weapons used by terrorists were startlingly innovative, and a frank reminder of the lengths some are willing to go in order to commit acts of violence against innocent people. Extremism is a global problem, and the 360 Room is an interesting method of uniting victims from around the world. I was surprised to see a school group somberly going through the exhibit because I'm used to seeing kids screaming and shouting as they sprint through museums. It would seem that the CELL is as thought provoking for me as it was for them. All and all, it was informative, well curated, and easy to get to. read more

I'm still trying to figure out what the purpose of this exhibit really is...It felt like propaganda by the Republican Party/Fox News to show you how gruesome terrorism is, without really teaching you anything. A quick Google search also shows that John McCain, and Lindsey Graham came to this exhibit so it really sounds like the goal is a pro-war agenda which kinda doesn't fit for Downtown Denver. I only visited this exhibit as it was free on Night at the Museums and I was already in the area to see other nearby attractions. I could easily see younger kids and even teens be disturbed by this exhibit. I do have to say it was interesting to see the different types of weapons used in terrorist attacks. After waiting to get into the room showing a film I was disappointed when I realized its just a bunch of random news media shots of terrorist attacks (or the aftermath) all showing simultaneously without telling a coherent story. I probably can learn more via Youtube or by googling individual attacks rather than just being subjected to images meant to teach us that terrorism is bad and could happen any time and we have no control over it. read more

I visited from out of town with some friends of mine from Boston, and we found the CELL really interesting! We are all pretty interested in political science and international affairs, and it was an educational way to spend a few hours. It sparked a lot of conversation among us later in the day, and I definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for something different to do in Denver!! I don't live in the area, but I started following The CELL on facebook, and it looks like they host some pretty interesting events too. Nice job over all! read more

I had a great time when I visited the CELL. The CELL exhibit is located in the Denver Art Plaza across the pedestrian walkway from the Denver Art Museum and Mad Greens. It's location alone makes it a can't miss in Denver. The exhibit is educational and hands on. The first room has a piece of the World Trade Center, and provides space for reflection. The second room has information on the funding, methods, and politics of several terrorist groups. The third room is intense. It has a 360 projector set up that plays out a potential terrorist attack. After the movie ends, the fourth room has more educational materials on terrorist groups and provides on overview of what you can do to help prevent an attack. The themes of the exhibit are mature, and it is probably not a great place for small children. However, it is truly a memorable experience, and worth a visit the next time you are in Denver. If you are looking for a museum experience that is really different and deals with current news and events, then this is a great place to visit. Best for older kids (teenagers) and adults. The staff is helpful and knowledgable; I suggest taking the guided tour -- you'll really be able to get into the history of terrorism, myths and facts, etc. read more

As an educator in a local college I find that The CELL makes for a rich experience for my students. The exhibit is non-partisan, factual, and well done. The Center's message of the threat of terrorism (both domestic and abroad) is poignant, powerful, and current. read more

I went in hoping to nerd out at an informative museum. I was really disappointed that this "education learning lab" aims for your heart, not your brain. CELL is full of flashy, informationless exhibits where they use too much technology to teach you nothing. There is no real attempt to deal with any of the intricacies of terrorism: why it happens, its relative costs and risks compared to other concerns, the freedom vs security debate, policy ideas on how to reduce it, etc. Total waste of time. read more

Not sure why my previous comment was hidden. When I went to the CELL I was not prepared for how graphic the content would be, however I felt the time was well-spent. The material is dense, but well-informed and neutrally presented. The museum had a piece of steel from one of the fallen World Trade Towers which was very powerful, and the whole thing only took about 30 minutes to get through so I still had time to go to the Denver Art Museum. I was really impressed with the Cell on my last trip to Denver. I went to the Art and History museums and sort of stumbled upon this little exhibit. Reasonably priced ($5 for student), I decided to check it out. It was really interesting. They had an actual piece of steel from the world trade center which was really powerful. I also loved the informational pieces about children in terrorist organizations, how terrorist groups are funded and how countries balance freedom and protecting people. I thought it was really thought provoking. It only took me about an hour to go through the exhibit, and I probably could have gone faster if I had been on a time crunch. As a museum lover, I really thought the exhibit offered a new and different take on the traditional format. I loved the high-tech stuff and was impressed by their courage to take on such a difficult subject. I highly suggest visiting. read more

This was a provocative exhibit. I was so moved by the steel beam from the World Trade Center. I thought the first video was disturbing yet spot on in the many types of groups that commit terrorism especially in light of the attacks in Va, Barcelona and Finland. There was a section that discussed civil liberties that I though could be updated. The Myths and Facts section sparked all sorts of questions I have about the issue. The entire experience helped frame the different issues that impact our security. read more

I am surprised by all of the positive reviews, because my husband and I found this museum to be terribly disappointing. The exhibit consists of a few newspaper clippings on the wall, some videos of political figures discussing how bad terrorism is, and some basic factoids about terrorism. No attempt to elucidate the complexities of terrorism, or to convey lesser-known facts about terrorism. If you are someone who keeps up with current events, you will probably leave feeling frustrated as I did. We were done with the exhibit within 30 minutes, and even though we had buy-one-get-one-free tickets, we still felt that it was a waste of time and money. read more

The CELL exceeded my expectations. Hearing about The Cell from family and friends, I was not eactly sure what to expect. However, after touring the exhibit and meeting the staff, it exceeded my expectations! I was thrilled to know that there is an insitution that educated people on this subject, in such a clear, honest way. The information The Cell has accumulated gives citizens an inside look into a very important subject, something that affects every one of us. It is not just facts, but hits on an emotional level that no other museum has been able to do. I absolutely reccomend taking a tour of The CELL! read more

This place is really cool! It was an amazing experience to see a piece of the Trade Center Steel! I was very impressed with how much knowledge is being held inside the CELL. I thought that I knew a lot about terrorism and what to do about things that I see until my visit there. I feel much more educated and aware now that I have been through the exhibit.
