I came to the clinic in severe dental pain, with a history of chronic illness (including an ICD and…read moreLong QT Syndrome), long-term medical trauma, DV situations, and financial hardships that have made accessing dental care more difficult throughout my life. I was 100% honest and embarrassed by these circumstances and was promised I would be met with zero judgment in the care I received. At first, everyone was reassuring and approaching me with care, because they could tell that I was nervous. They recognized my anxiety very quickly. I fully understood prior to my arrival that I need cardiology clearance to continue with a sedation or extraction. Thats why I only scheduled a visit for the New Patient Special-- it only includes your X-rays, an exam, and a cleaning. I didn't expect anything more or less. I tried explaining this to Dr. Farnam Farzam while he continued talking over me. He assumed I didn't want to hear anything he had to say to me when I grew sad after my exam results, and started asking me questions about why I can't get cardiac care or get there efficiently. He found himself unsatisfied with all of my answers and "couldn't believe" anything I was saying. He went so far as to ask, "So you just don't care about your health, or what?" and seemed to disregard my experience because he has "never heard of all that." When he asked if I had a driver's license to take myself to a cardiologist for dental clearance, I answered honestly: "No." Before I could explain that I only have a state ID, he interrupted and said, "So you're not a person or even a human being in the state of Texas? So, you don't EXIST here? So how did you get HERE today?" I nervously made it known, "I feel a little judged," and that's when Dr. Farnam Farzam became VERY irritated. I started to tear up from this spontaneous mood swing, which triggered him to inform me that I'm "not about to guilt trip him for being cautious." He then shoved his chair away, said "We're done here" and completely walked away from me. He threw his hand up and demanded that his wife, Dr. Melanie Farzam, made sure to issue me a full refund so I could "afford a taxi." Sitting there in tears, I ask her what just happened. I simply said "I feel a little judged" and that was the immediate response. I wasn't even rude. She tried explaining to me, without speaking to him, that he just meant my financial situation was being taken into consideration and that he wants me to use the money to get to another clinic with doctors to complete my care-- that if her daughter was extended that same grace, she would take it-- and that her husband "isn't angry" and "isn't a bad guy." Moments later, he returns and doesn't exchange any words with me. No cleaning ever was done. Dr. Melanie Farzam -- who remained professional -- closed the visit and explained my prescription to me. She even offered to call it in herself for my own comfort and walked me to the door. While I appreciate the immediate refund and Dr. Melanie Farzam's help, this experience was so incredibly dehumanizing and disheartening. I would not recommend Dr. Farnam H. Farzam to anyone, especially those with trauma history or financial hardship, who may need care and are seeking basic human decency. *I was also prescribed pain medication that I can't take due to my Long QT Syndrome. My condition was written clearly more than once and stated verbally multiple times. This is truly shocking after the insensitive spiel I was given about him "not wanting me to die in his chair" and how I'm a liability if he were to perform services I didn't ever ask him for.

There is absolutely nothing left on the table when it comes to extraordinary dental care and…read moreservice. Dr. Hernandez and every member of his professional support staff have been with him for many years, and each is as skilled, compassionate, and dedicated as anyone could hope to find. Although I have been a patient of Dr. Hernandez for a number of years, I recently chose to undertake a lengthy and complex process to restore my teeth to a condition better than they had ever been--even before a serious automobile accident decades ago. During our discussions, I mentioned a procedure I had learned about. While Dr. Hernandez was aware of its existence, he willingly invested the time and effort necessary to research it thoroughly and determine how it might best be incorporated into my treatment. Throughout the extensive work performed on both my upper and lower arches, Dr. Hernandez and his entire team have been consistently supportive, encouraging, and kind. Equally remarkable, I can honestly say that I experienced no pain during any of my visits. It is difficult to adequately express my appreciation for this practice. Clinical excellence, professionalism, compassion, integrity, and genuine concern for patients are evident in every interaction. I do not believe I could offer a higher recommendation. I returned twice because I was still experiencing pain. Each time, I was told that everything was fine, and instead, more of my teeth were shaved down. Because the pain continued, I finally went to an actual endodontist for a second opinion. He took X-rays and discovered that the root canals had not been completely finished. He had to go back in and complete the work that had not been properly done. After everything I went through--three root canals, two additional visits because of ongoing pain, and having my teeth shaved down even further--I ultimately had to pay another specialist to correct and finish the treatment. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before having any major dental work done here. My experience was extremely frustrating, painful, and costly, and I would not return or recommend this practice to anyone.

I needed a cleaning and either an implant or a bridge for a broken tooth. The new patient cleaning…read moreand exam process was excellent - but, I didn't form my negative opinion UNTIL seeking a second opinion due to the high prices received in my treatment plan. (3 unit bridge for my missing tooth -$6000, one crown on tooth that needed to have amalgam filling removed -$2250.) When I arrived at the next dentist with my x-rays from Dr. Scott Anderson's office, the dentist concurred with the work needed - with one HUGE difference: He said that, first & FOREMOST I should remove my badly decayed WISDOM TOOTH. I replied, "What wisdom tooth" thinking they had all been removed. He then proceeded to identify it to me in his X-ray AND Dr. Scott Andersons X-ray. Furthermore - he said that he would refer me to an oral surgeon for that work - but that he would recommend that I have that tooth extracted because it was a health issue while the others were mostly cosmetic. (Please note that the wisdom tooth was still fully in the gum, but it had opened the gumline just enough to allow bacteria in which had started the decay process - it was impacted and likely beyond the scope of Dr. Scott Anderson's ability to remove it as well). I asked the new dentist if it was possible that Dr. Anderson could have 'missed' that badly decayed tooth in the x-ray - to which he replied, "No dentist could miss that tooth." This led me to only one logical conclusion: Dr. Scott Anderson chose only to create a Treatment Plan based on quick, easy, profitable work that he could perform. I call that 'selective dentistry'. The sad thing is that the overall experience was positive (prior to me finding out WHAT HE FAILED TO INFORM ME OF - WHICH WAS MY MOST SERIOUS PROBLEM - THE WHOLE REASON X-RAYS ARE TAKEN IN THE FIRST PLACE). So, Dr.Anderson was completely content to perform $8250 worth of 'gravy work', only to leave me with a badly decayed wisdom tooth (which if you could have seen it after I had it extracted, would have surely had me in serious pain within a short matter of time) - only to probably 'inform' me later, when I returned in pain - that, 'Oh - I see - you have a badly decayed wisdom tooth... here, let me REFER you to a specialist - oh...and see my receptionist on the way out to pay for your consultation fee!' His office contacted me to return for another cleaning - at which I explained all of this...predictably no one reached out with as much as an apology. This just reinforces the practice of ALWAYS seeking a second opinion. By the way... that 'broken/missing tooth that had created my need for a bridge' was a molar that was decayed approximately 35-40 YEARS ago... I went to my dentist who said only that it had to be extracted. I declined. I sought a second opinion. The next dentist said IMMEDIATELY (and without knowledge that I was getting a second opinion) that he needed to do a root canal followed by a crown. He NEVER even offered extraction as an option! I got to keep that tooth for 30+ additional years! GET SECOND OPINIONS - and DON'T TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE THE SECOND OPINION.
