I moved here last summer from another state, where I had been successfully treated with Botox for migraine for several years. I made an appointment with Dr. Couch to resume this treatment when I moved here. I came prepared with notes from my previously successful treatments from two different neurologists, including specific indications of where to inject, and how much.
Not only was all this all ignored, but Dr. Couch's injections were quite unnecessarily painful (I have had them for many years elsewhere), but they quite literally ruined my life for several months. When he discarded my past treatment plans, he chose to substantially increase the amount of Botox injected, plus inject in areas that were previously purposely avoided. The sores from the injections under my hair kept me from sleeping for two nights, and hurt for a full month. They seemed roughly administered, and really became painful sores.
The injections into my neck and shoulders were a disaster. They, too, were extremely painful when administered, and remained quite painful for a ridiculously extended amount of time. But worse than that, I was literally unable to raise my arms to use a computer, or even to eat comfortably for months!
To make these matters even worse, the heavy-handed injections into my jaw area prevented me from opening my mouth wide enough to eat most normal foods. Everything had to be cut into absurdly small pieces. Furthermore, I had to cancel my dental appointment because there was no way I could open my mouth for an exam or cleaning--it was impossible, and way too painful. When I tried very hard to open my mouth, my jaw would go out of joint, and it was scary getting it back to where it should be.
Immediately after these injections, my sight dramatically worsened--literally days afterwards. This made it dangerous to drive. It has since improved when the injections were allowed to wear off. The injections under my hairline were so painful I could not wash my hair for at least a week after the injections. Then I began noticing the hair along that line falling out. It has finally grown back. My eyelids drooped (dermatochalasis), which further interfered with my sight, not to mention my appearance.
I got a rash along the back of my neck and shoulders where the injections were given. This troublesome rash lasted over a month. I still have some scars from the injection sites. The painful shoulders and neck lasted for several months, exacerbating my back issues, and made it impossible to attain the correct posture. After those injections, my fingers would become numb all too often.
The way these injections were administered was quite dangerous for me, and ruined my quality of life for several months. AND MY MIGRAINES NOT ONLY DIDN'T GO AWAY DURING THIS TIME, BUT WERE MUCH MORE FREQUENT AND MUCH WORSE!
After allowing those harmful effects to wear off, after several months, I went to another physician, and again am receiving the careful, proper Botox injections for my migraines. read more
