I loved this place! My friends and I were visiting and I think I found cottage loaf on trip advisor, which is more popular than yelp in the UK apparently. Anyways, it was a short walk from our B & B on a little side street, and it's pretty dang cute. Since we're from the US, all of the cottage and pub type architecture is very quaint and a novelty, so I liked it. Apparently it can get pretty busy, but you can always make a reservation. We took a seat at a long wooden table inside, decided what we wanted from the menu, and then went down to the bar to order our dinner and drinks. They do bring the food to you, but you order at the bar. I went with the mushroom ravioli and there were soooo many raviolis! Very tasty, and I love mushrooms, so it worked out well haha. Just a lot of food. If I lived here or visited again, I'd make my way back here again. The Cottage Loaf is a great little pub just 5 minutes walk from the seafront. With a decent outside seating area (front and back beer gardens) and plenty of room inside, this is the perfect place to stop in for drinks or to dine. We booked with it being Saturday night and along with a couple of pints from their range of 5 guest cask ales, chose the lasagne and pork loin for dinner. The food menu is traditional British pub food, but we had heard from friends who'd visited previously that all the food is made from the freshest ingredients and of great quality so it was quite hard making our decision as everything sounded so tasty. We made a great choice as both our meals were excellent and just about squeezed in a piece of sticky toffee pudding in (I could have squeezed 2 pieces in it was that good...) but just be aware that the kitchen stops serving food at 9pm so make sure you leave yourself time to order it from the bar if you have a sweet tooth! Highly recommended; It's the first place I'll go back to next time I'm in Llandudno. read more

Omg! This is the best Sunday roast I've ever had. Hands down. The meat just melted in your mouth, and it was a good 2 inches thick! We had the 3 meat roast which was lamb, beef and beef again! They'd ran out of chicken and turkey. But it was truly amazing! It's tucked away from the main street so it was a wonderful find. I can't wait to go back! read more

Very unimpressed, my girlfriend and I paid £14 each for a mushroom bouringnon which was of very poor value. Extremely Overpriced and low quality for something that must of cost less than £2 to produce. The kids menus was also very poor, unhealthy crap quality food overloaded with cheap cheese. We politely mentioned this to two members of staff and nothing was done to offer a solution. Won't be coming coming again! read more

The Village Loaf has something of a country cottage feel to it, and certainly isn't lacking in character. Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly enough. There's a nice outdoor area at the back of the building with plenty of seating, and a few benches and picnic tables at the front - perfect for enjoying a relaxing drink when the weather is nice. read more

This is a charming and quaint Welsh pub tucked away on a side street off the main road through town. The decor is pleasant, including many antiques and pictures of Llandudno. The food is excellent. We ordered Sunday Lunch and everything was as you'd want. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the meat was very tender. There is also a fine selection of ales on tap to supplement the food. The service was great too and we were looked after quickly and politely despite it being quite busy. We'll definitely return here read more

this is a lovely traditional olde world pub,with character,with a cosy village inn charm,unusual and far from expected,to find in a backsteet of llandudno centre,they do a selection of cask beers,supposed to be good for home made meals,but not tried yet,it is said that some of the timber beams comes from a shipwreck,and that the captain now haunts the bar,it has open fires upon which is said to be cosy in winter but i have only visited summertimes,upon which you can sit out into the garden,sometimes it does attract a crowd that can get rowdy,they used to put live music on,but much quiter and relaxing at other times,well worth a visit. I'm always disappointed when I go in here. It looks really cosy from the outside but inside it's very cold and plain. The staff I've encountered haven't been very friendly either. The pub has a good beer garden, but if you're going to be inside I'd go to the Queen Victoria on Church Walks instead. read more

This was recommended to me by a friend who claims it is one of the best pubs he's been to in Llandudno. The location ensures that not everyone is going to end up there so chances are you could have a nice quiet meal, or even a quiet drink with the locals. The staff were very friendly and were very attentive (both nights that I went). They also have live music on the weekends! The first night I had one of the specials... the chicken breast stuffed with sun-blushed tomatoes with a whole-grain mustard sauce. The amount of food that came out was enough for two people! The chicken was great and what was even more surprising was the mustard sauce. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was so creamy and not at all overpowering. The chicken was served with carrots, new potatoes, and an assortment of peas, green beans, and snow pea pods. Everyone at the table tried it and enjoyed it. The atmosphere was nice and we lingered enjoying the rest of our pints. The second night I had the lasagna and the sticky toffee pudding. The Lasagna was not as good as I was hoping... again there was enough for two people to eat off of. The lasagna was filling and it wasn't awful, it just could've used more flavor. The garlic bread was a little soggy and the salad did not have any kind of dressing on it. The sticky toffee pudding was different, but good...in a different way. I ordered mine with the warm custard thinking it would come on the side as it has in every restaurant I have ordered it in. However, this comes with the custard already on top, but at least they are generous with it. The pudding itself was not as dark and dense as I usually taste, in fact this was more of a lighter sponge...the toffee sauce was also a bit lighter and not as creamy as other sauces I've had. All that being said, it tasted a bit like American pancakes soaked in a maple/carmel sauce...and that is why I still liked it even if it wasn't what I was expecting. If you're in Llandudno, you should certainly stop by the Cottage Loaf. It's got a nice ambiance of a traditional pub, with a wood fire and dark wood setting. The menu has plenty of options and their specials really get your attention. Our table ordered off the specials menu and went away quite satisfied. It's a little off the beaten path, kind of down an alleyway, so it appears to draw more locals than those out on the main street. The Cottage Loaf is a pub/restaurant in the centre of Llandudno, occupying one of the oldest buildings in the vicinity. It has a few tables out front in addition to the interior seating. I am keen on real ales and the Cottage Loaf offers about five of them, many from local breweries. The prices for food and drink are much higher than the Palladium (Wetherspoons), which is right next door, but I came to the conclusion that in this case saving a few pounds at the Wetherspoons is a false economy. The haddock and chips I had at the Cottage Loaf cost double the fish and chips at the Palladium but the Cottage Loaf serving size was much larger and the fish tasted really good. My only real gripe with the Cottage Loaf is that it felt more like a restaurant than a pub. read more

I like to visit this pub, its just as you would expect an old fishermans pub to be and some of the beams are from a ship - but in fact it used to be a bakery at one time! I now avoid the place when the younger crowd are in after one too many incidents with drunken idiots. They used to have live music on a saturday night but this may be a disco now, pick if you pick your times you will enjoy it. The food's good too. Hidden away in a backstreet, this is possibly the best Pub in Llandudno. A tradtional Pub serving traditional ales and good pub grub. The interior is what you would expect from such an old pub, open fires, oak beams & Low ceilings and Wooden floors. The Village Loaf in Llandudno is a nice pub to look at, the outdoor area is well laid out and the inside is cosy. The drinks are priced fairly and squarely, and the service is prompt. It gets busy on weekends and fills up very rapidly on a Saturday evening. My main quibble would be that a fairly large portion of the drinkers there tend to be from the local private school(s). Now, I'm no inverted snob but some of the characters from these schools are absolute dullards. Seriously. small pub, people go here when weatherspoons is too busy, the regulars get annoyed with this, it is very small in comparison to the number of people that go there,. I would not go there really on a weekend because it gets very rowdy, for a midweek drink though it is a very nice pub, quaint old old building with slate floors. I informed the staff up-front in an honest attempt to avoid being a faceless "back-stabber." Here is a summary of our main dissatisfactions; - the entire premises reeked of kippers, which allegedly are not sold, but the logs that had been burned, had been the cause of the smell. - two out of three simple order requests, when presented, were wrong, - charged six pounds ninety five pence for a "sandwich" that my cockatiel could have made a better job of preparing! Great location, off of the central streets, quite but close to everything. We had salmon and roast beef sandwhiches, would've tasted better if the bread was toasted. Having recently attended here on a staff party i was absolutely amazed by the presentation ,amount and service given by the staff. The food was a three course christmas menu of which we were well and truly filled to the brim (many of my colleagues couldnt finish for fear of no room for the beer later ).I would throughly recommend this place for your xmas lunch. we were serenaded by a local singer who did very modern up to date songs which added to the brill atmostsphere .Again well worth a visit! read more
