Pizza was burnt, barely able to find the toppings. I got the X-tra large New York style, probably my last order from Cottage Inn

Fredi has the best pizza in Michigan…read more The guy is an artist and his pizza is his masterpiece. The crust is firm, crunchy, and flavorful and bready but light. The sauce is tart and a little sweet and there are small chunks of tomatoes here and there which infuse even more flavor with each bite. If you hold up a slice for a little CSI: Pizza action, you're going to see a firm "V" shape on the side profile with a slight bend towards the tip of the slice. As far as I'm concerned, the classics are the way to go. I would say "The Don" is the overall crowd pleaser with a little more cheese than the basic pep but I think I've permanently been converted to the "Moe Greene". It's simple, there's plenty of cheese, and you get to really enjoy the bread and sauce. The "Fredo" is also good if you want something a little different. It has a small dusting of hot sauce and a generous amount of diced chicken and a drizzling of ranch. The chicken and hot sauce are well balanced so you don't feel like you're chugging a bottle of Franks with your pizza. They've added outdoor seating since opening, the indoor wait area can get a little crowded, the wait times can be a little long during peak hours, and the drive to Melvindale isn't short. All those caveats aside, it's absolutely worth the trip and the wait.

Get here early and plan to wait in a line to get your pizza. Opens at 10:30 AM. If it's busy,…read moreparking can be a little challenging. There is parking down the residential street. Fall winter weather. They're really open Thursday through Sunday. No longer per slice, must get a whole pie. I have been here a few times with team members and colleagues. This is a hot spot for thin crust pizza. Portnoy's pizza is cheese and basil. He skyrocketed the popularity of this place. It's harder to get a pie and you must come earlier to get one.
