Perhaps out of the way for a few people but it means you get a lot of the locals in there (like myself!) which leads to a very pleasant and jovial ambience to the play. The low wooden beams and moody lighting might be the staple of this chain of pubs but don't let that put you off, this really is in the spirit of traditional old country pubs. The food is pretty good and there's a good selection of lagers bitters and ales on tap for the discerning drinker. The staff and the new management are much improved and very friendly with the punters and won't shy from a bit of joking and banter. The car park is always full, especially on Sundays when people go in for the Sunday roast which if anything is a sign of a successful establishment.

Like many old pubs, The Old Windmill is divided into several sections of varying size, so you can have a quiet pint (or three), too. Everything is coming out of a bottle or can. BUT they make it up by having a fantastic (too huge to drink in one night) selection of trappist and German beers. Prices are reasonable. Their stock tends to change so there's always something new. It's quite small, with a few booths inside and an open area out front. The only negative here is that this place is packed on a Saturday so you might find yourself in a queue. Very good live music. Last time the band was local but heavily influenced by Mogwai/GYBE. Inspire has some really handsome patrons. I just wish I knew what to say.
