Came here to pick up some household items. I alway enjoy a visit to Costco. You have to purchase a yearly membership (tip: check out Groupon for membership discounts) AND scan your card upon entering. They have a good selection of items, offer value pricing (although you have to purchase in bulk), and friendly associates. They also have the famous rotisserie chicken for less than $5 and you can't beat the free sample kiosks located around the store. They also have a food court, serving that $1.50 hot dog/soda combo that you have to try at least once, in addition to ready to go pizza, sandwiches, and an ice cream sundae that is just sinful! It can be a bit of a hassle going during peak hours as the lines can be massive. I have one suggestion for Costco: offer the "scan and go" option, similar to Sam's Club and BJ's, to ease those lines. Regardless, I alway manage to pick up more than I intended; I really need to stick with a list! All in all, a great big box store to do your monthly household shopping. read more

Good: I get great staple items at Costco for affordable prices. My prescriptions are 50-70% less at Costco pharmacy than they were at CVS. Their optical selection is amazing with basic and branded frames. I have ordered their large pizzas for 9.99 for various occasions and everyone enjoys it. Occasionally I find great clothing items as well like DKNY winter coats, 100% cotton t-shirts by Banana Republic and even comfy and stylish tennis shoes. We are avid Costco shoppers and the executive membership that allows us to shop at 9am is a great deal! They have consumer friendly return policies and warranties on electronics. You will always find something you need, want or love! Areas of improvement: After 9am, the lines are really long and unorganized. It's difficult to distinguish what line people are in. There are not many employees throughout the store so if you have questions, you may have to go all the way to front for assistance. Some items are out of stock for months. They went through a phase of making you show your card at self check-out and examining it to ensure the picture matched your face. It felt very intrusive often reminiscent of profiling. Additionally, they implemented that while simultaneously discouraging guests from getting a physical card. I'll start off by saying I'm a mender if BJs and I came with my friend for a tour. I am blown away- I can't say enough good things about this store! They had such good prices and so many options! The meat section was huge and had great deals. The sock section was huge. They had so much product fresh veggies a huge bread section and a lot of food in general. They had so many samples on the floor that day- I think I had 7? The employees were nice, and even though the lines to check out looked INSANE.. it didn't take long at all/ we used a person not the self checkout- We also got gas and that line was long as well but moved very quickly. Gretchen from this location is the worse. We were standing in line when we saw she was asking people in line for their membership card, then asking if they wanted to upgrade. When she came to us, I kindly told her no, she became angry, unprofessional, demanded we give her our card. She threatened us and would not leave us alone. I don't know what they've done in the past but these new membership policies are ridiculous. Firstly, my membership just started this month and they cancelled it in 3 days after for no apparent reason. Went to dispute with my bank and they told me they have no idea why it returned to the card as there was no given reason from Costco. I asked them and they told me that there was no card on file, when I put a card on file when I signed up. Smh Furthermore, they don't take all cards. It's either Visa or Discover. Also, I went and got a packaged sandwich from their cold section. There was a little bug in it! The container was already loosely packed and not sealed. I really love Costco's selection, but I have to admit that the crowds can be a bit much sometimes. I find that I have to mentally gear myself up to go there, and especially on weekends. Weekdays are definitely better. The hotdogs and pizza at the food court are delish. The membership fee is a bit steep, but I think it's worth it. After coming along with friends a few times, I gave up my other warehouse membership and opted for Costco. Their health food choices selection is much more expansive, and fruits and veggies are always fresh. Cost wise I probably paid the same at the other warehouse. But, I feel the choices for organic or healthy ingredients outweigh the differences. The lines move quickly. They have both self check out and staffed registers. Service is always friendly. Parking is a bit hectic on the weekends, but doesn't really bother me to park out farther and walk. The one thing I wish they would consider is having a scanning and check out app on your phone. I'm happy to say that Costco has maintained the same level of customer service that they provided when they first opened. Sometimes establishments get comfortable and start slacking after they've been open a while. No matter how many people are in the store the checkout process is usually pretty good whether you do self check our use a cashier. They have a system at this store that works. SN: if you don't have a lot of items use the self checkout. They always have associates there directing traffic and they're available to help if you run into a problem. This store is well stocked with everything from electronics, clothing, books, and of course food and everything in between. I often find myself sticking things in my cart that weren't part of my plan. I have to remind myself "Stay focused Karen. You don't need that". One of the biggest values at this site is the gas. Normally, it's the cheapest in the area and this alone has made having a Costco card worth it. There is also a gas attendant usually floating around to assist you and direct traffic. Depending on the time you go, you may be waiting a few minutes. The best time to go is first thing in early morning. read more

Some pros about this Costco is that it's adequately staffed and there's someone to help you at all times. The parking spaces are wider than your typical spots. Large selection of inventory. Reasonably priced membership. One con is the business hours. 10-8:30 during the week. Honestly not early enough if you're a business owner. Service was really bad at this location. At self check out I was harassed and denied the opportunity to check out my items at self check-out because I was using a family member ID. I am also a member at cotsco and because my ID wasn't present I could not check out. Also the ID I was using was my father's. Yesterday, March 31st, I spent about $134 at the register, $16 at the pharmacy and $40 at the gas station. I am simply crazy about Costco. The "world famous" rotisserie chicken is great. The price is reasonable and the food is readily available. The return process is the easiest that I have ever seen. There is never an issue or problem returning merchandise for any reason. The staff members are willing and almost eager to accept a returned product. The shelves are always well stocked (even during the Covid-19 pandemic). The store is always clean and the staff are knowledgeable and always willing to help. The lines can get long, but it seems like there is a staff member near the register monitoring the lines and calling for more cashiers when necessary. The restrooms are clean and well lit. The parking lots are the only "issue". But, the designers of the shipping center get the blame for that. The parking spaces are large and ample. Shopping was fine, but the lady at the front desk was rude. I'm glad i was with someone who already has a Costco card(i was trying to sign on to theirs, they signed up last week). The lady upfront refused to help me despite having a valid ID, and refused to count a virtual copy of mail. The person i was with was able to sign up just fine with a virtual copy of mail. Very antiquated. Nearly asked for a refund on our subscription we signed up for earlier last week. Signing up is NOT a simple process. Yesterday I went to Costco in Owings Mill MD to purchase a tire from the Tire Center. I have always loved Costco because of their customer service but that didn't happen. Apollo the supervisor at the Tire Dept was absolutely no help. He did everything to talk me out of purchasing a tire like suggesting that the tire I wanted was too expensive, telling me to go other places to buy the tire. So with his suggestion that's exactly what I did, I went and purchased the tire from somewhere else. Apollo general demeanor was unhelpful and lack luster. I go to this location fairly regularly as it's the closest to my house. The store is always well stocked which is good. I even had to return something without having the receipt and they took it back no questions asked. I had my card account # and they offered a store credit or to put the money back on my card. I chose the latter option. The main thing I think makes Costco worth it above and beyond is the gas! I drive a ton and they ALWAYS have the lowest price in Owings Mills. Unless you go off hours, you have to wait a little while though, as the gas station is always packed. It does help that you can pull up your car on either side of the pump since it is long enough to stretch...that can save you from waiting in line. I was in the store last week and one of the employees that was giving out samples just had a horrible attitude. She was not pleasant at all, even making my short sampling experience bad. I try to be friendly and chit chat a bit but the negativity was killing my vibe. I came away thinking maybe she was having a bad day but don't bring that to work. In closing I've had some good and some not so good experiences here at Costco so just be aware. read more

I have purchased hearing aids from COSTCO for years. My last pair did not work from day one. They have been sent fro repair, I have had weekly adjustments and cleanings at the store, the charger has been repaired and they still don't wor. I am using an old pair instead of my newer ones. COSTCO has stopped selling the ones they recommened for me. When I complain their only solution is "buy another pair." If they don't stand behind their products why would I give them more money? GO SOMEWHERE REPUTABLE. Avoid COSTCO. No cost savings is worth risking your hearing. Giving them money for a hearing aid is like playing Russian Roulett. read more

What can I say? I love it at this Costco. They're a fairly new but much welcomed addition to the area, the opened their doors in October 2018. The fresh bakery and rotisserie chicken stand might be my two most favorite spots in there, lol. They are always stocked and the selection of fresh produce is great too, it can literally be a one stop shop if you have a large family but even without a large family they're still always good finds. I love to walk the Christmas decoration aisle, I swear I'd buy everything they put out each year if I thought my house could handle it. They had, pre-COVID a pretty decent hot lunch menu in the front restaurant area, since then it's been condensed to maybe 3-4 items. I always enjoy perusing the aisles even when I only need one thing. I want to LOVE costco but I had a mediocre experience here! I am on a Gluten Free tour so most of my food reviews will be more about Gluten Free options and then I will talk about the customer service. I came here with my mother who pays over $100 for a membership. We debate often on which clubhouse is better. Sams, Costco, or BJ's. For the record Costco's is not winning. So let me begin by saying this... I feel like this store needs to have a Gluten Free section. I spent more of my time reading labels and figuring out what was gluten free. I won't be buying a membership from here because they can not accommodate my food allergies. Not $1 is worth a membership here. The kicker here.... My mother decided to ask a man about their Gluten Free options and I told her not to ask " The Black Man" because most African Americans are not knowledgeable of this. He did EXACTLY what I knew he was going to do! He wasn't even sure the meaning of Gluten Free. He pointed me to the Kosher section which has nothing to do with anything. He also said that he loved chemicals in his food. Which is something typical and often said when I advise other people about Celiac Disease and they have not heard of this. He was a funny. I laughed but more so because that was the response I expected. I told my mother I should have bet her $20 that this black man was going to turn my gluten free allergy into a joke. This is my message for Costco... Costco is a whole corporation and not a mom and pop shop. So many different people from different backgrounds shop here so I most definitely expected more. Costco is the 5th largest retail in the world? (I am reading this right now) not sure how true this is... Ranked #10 on fortune 500 rankings?
