This may be a slightly different type of review as I'm sure most already know Costco's quality and great product offerings. This review will focus on an order of a oven/microwave combo and their customer service. When our wall oven/microwave stopped working, we began shopping for a replacement that preferably could drop right in the existing opening without any cabinet modifications. We shopped all over Grand Rapids as well and we were surprised to find Costco had the exact model we were looking for at a dramatically lower price. In addition, delivery and installation was included. I was a little nervous ordering this way but went ahead. I placed the order and in less than a week, the oven was delivered followed by the installation a day later. Unfortunately the oven was defective so I had the option of a refund, replacement or a repair. Repairing was definitely not an option for us especially on a brand new oven and I didn't want to begin shopping all over so we opted for a replacement. Amazingly the team at Costco worked some kind of magic because the new oven was delivered and installed five days later. Costco communicated with me many times updating me during the process (shipped from manufacturer, arrived at Costco warehouse, earliest possible delivery, earliest possible installation, etc.) Really, their communications were extraordinary and over the top from what I expected from such a large organization. The installers who are independent contractors who don't work directly for Costco were also amazed as they do installations for other stores. They said a replacement usually takes much longer. I've long been a huge Costco fan. This experience made me an even bigger one.

Roast beef sandwich ($10) I usually get something from the food court every time we go to Costco. New item? Hell yeah. Definitely pricey for Costco but I think it was worth the try. I really enjoyed the bread and the sauces they used. The sauces (don't remember what they were, a honey mustard and a vinaigrette maybe?) had great flavor and added a good touch of acidity that a lot of other sandwiches lack. Definitely better than other $10 sandwiches you can get. Yes this is a food review for a Costco. Speaking to the business at large, this place is excellent. Staff is always so kind and helpful, I've never had a negative experience with them. Other customers... I can't say the same about them.

Horrible place to try and shop at. You have to provide papers three times to get out the door. The lines get longer every year.

A lot of people complain that Costco is too busy, there is a reason, excellent products and excellent value.

I can dig it, though, because sometimes I am that person. But also, sometimes I am not that person, and I'm especially not that person when I just want to find a fully stocked aisle of children's medicine (Tylenol in bubble gum flavor, in fact) at a good price. Thankfully, Bridge Street Market is a little bougie, but not so bougie that it loses its Midwest Meijer roots. Anyway, I picked up my children's Tylenol, but I also stopped by the wine section before I checked out. Bridge Street Market has a large and fun wine area. I say fun because they take the time to label some of the wines on display with tasting notes and other descriptors. I was in the Italian section, so I picked up a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, just based on how it was displayed on the shelf. The merchandising people at Bridge Street are doing a good job -- they made me pick up wine on a whim! (Which, to be honest, isn't that difficult, but still.) All of the checkout lanes are self-check-out, but there are people standing by to help.

However, with the elevated ambiance and prices, (due to a lack of discounts you at a Meijer) one would expect exceptional service. The service isn't bad. It would just make sense for the service and staff to match what you'd expect from a store like Forest Hills Foods or the Ada Market. I would consistently shop here more if I was always greeted wherever I walked into the store and it felt like home.

I called ahead of time and asked some questions, he was very informative. Later that day, I showed up with even more questions for Tom. He patiently answered them all and cut what ended up being the perfect amount of meat. I had just a little left over for some amazing breakfast tacos the next morning. In other stores I've been to, I don't usually get the kind of service he gave. I walked out confident (never having cooked a prime rib myself) that everything was going to be great. It truly was. Thank you, Tom and D & W!

Racks and pallets blocking entire aisles, product and merchandise on the floor, areas under construction that just look awful. Either complete the work overnight or temporarily close the store! There are usually minimal employees working and often the only option for checkout are the self-serve lanes. I liken the experience to the kind of place you would be sent on a side quest in a first-person zombie apocalypse video game. It's creepy, you waste time trying to find what you're looking for, and you are only happy when you gtfo. The best thing I can say about it is that it offers the local high school kids on off-campus lunch a place to buy a cheap meal or snack and now that the local Rite Aid is closed, it's the only place to buy package alcohol in Gaslight. The semi-recent overhaul and renovation of the Breton Village D&W made the Gaslight one look even worse by comparison. How this store managed to get THIS bad over the years is mind-boggling!
