At my job, we sometimes order from here. I am a vegan and know quite well, to make my order VERY specific. This place blows it every time. Then the PA has to go back and try again. I always wind up being sent a burrito with pinto beans and rice...no lettuce, pico, guac or sauce that is in my order. Is it just a bunch of stoned teenagers? Some old fart who thinks being vegan sucks? Whatever the case, this branch of Costa Vida is the worst. read more

This letter was sent to Corporate on May 2, 2025. I have received no response. If you're looking to order catering, I would look elsewhere. To Whom It May Concern: I am writing tonight to express my deep disappointment and hurt caused by Costa Vida regarding our catering order for our Ballroom Banquet. For context, I have been a Ballroom mom for 6 years. I have attended many banquets in that time and this was the first year we decided to try catering. This was to be our final banquet as our baby is graduating this year. I hope you can imagine all the joy, excitement, anticipation, and sadness we are experiencing as parents. I have always been an active part in supporting our team, dedicating hundreds of hours over the years. So when Coach asked me to pick up the catering order she had placed a week earlier, which was scheduled to be ready at 5:30 pm last night, I was more than happy to. Our banquet was to start at 6 pm. Anxious to arrive on time, my husband and I arrived at Costa Vida at 5:20 pm. We were greeted by a cashier and I told her that I was there to pick up a catering order. She said o.k .and then moved toward the back, as if she was going to get the food. A few minutes later, she came back to the front and gestured to a man whom we assume was a manager. He informed us that they had just received the order 10 minutes before and that it would be another 15 to 20 minutes before the order was ready. He offered us two free drinks while we waited. About 30 minutes later, they began giving us containers of food to take to our car. My anxiety that we were going to be late to, and miss important parts of, our last banquet with our son began to grow. Bit by bit, we were brought containers of dressing, pico, salsa, lettuce, guacamole, beans, chicken, and sweet pork., etc. to put in our car. At about 6 pm, I sat down and cried. I was missing special awards [and recognitions]. Finally at 6:17 pm, more than 45 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready, we were handed the last of the containers and a sheet to sign saying that all the food we received was at temperature. Frankly, all of the food was probably at temperature when they gave it to us and told us to put it in our car. But as a lot of it sat for a half hour or more, it certainly wasn't at temperature anymore. I was more than done with the experience though, so I signed the paper and left. The manager did give us a couple of bags of chips and some queso for our trouble. I don't know who dropped the ball here. I don't know if it was a computer glitch, a bad corporate policy, neglect on the local staff's part, or what. All I know is that I missed a significant portion of a really important night for my son and myself. I can't get that back. Costa Vida needs to fix this problem and do better. the food was overall ok. however I went in earlier the room was disgusting. there was not a single table clean and we had to clean them off ourselves. While we were cleaning our own table off the staff were taking selfies and not being shy about it. all including the shift lead. it was very unprofessional and upsetting because the lobby was disgusting. read more

My family and I have been to establishment many, many times throughout the years. The food has always been great. However, thanks to COVID and very shortly after inflation; prices have gone up, quantity has gone down along with quality. Since then my family and I haven't been there as often. Very disappointing. Went in at 8 pm. The line took over 20 minutes to make our way through. When we got to order, they were out of some items and low on others. As we stood in the front of the line waiting to order, we noticed they were making phone in orders before serving guest that were onsite. The order taker then proceeded to tell us we needed to wait longer for the cashier to ring up (catch up) the online orders they had just filled that no one was waiting for. Husband had nachos with beans he didn't like because they were out of black beans. I had a bowl. There was very little rice (they were low on that). The portion size was so small I thought I had gotten a kids meal. We will try Cafe Rio in the same parking lot the next time. read more

It's hard to even know where to begin. I had ordered a Sweet Pork Salad to go. Normally a large salad is not only full, but heaping full. My salad barely reached the top of the tin! They could have put a flat lid on it because it was not heaping at all. It had minimal meat as well as minimal everything else too & did not even have a tortilla! WTH?? Nor any cilantro, no lime wedge, or any cheese sprinkled on top! Worst portion size ever! Felt completely ripped off but didn't want to drive all the way back to deal with it. Can't see returning to this Costa Vida, ever. Cafe Rio might cost a tinge more but it's well worth it! read more

Sweet pork burrito black beans rice smothered and a sweet pork burrito refried beans and NO rice. And you mix up to no rice burrito with the one that should of had rice! Terrible service called and they wouldn't answer the phone. When I arrived they wouldn't take my order and told me to my face that I would have to call. Honestly, I'm not happy with the service here. First off, I dont understand why they close at 7:30 on Sunday. Secondly, I walked in at 7:28 on Sunday, not realizing the early hours and there were other people in there, the sign was on, I thought I could grab some nachos and leave. Apparently not! Not the best way to spend our discretionary money tonight. We should have gone to Cafe Rio. Manager stood behind all the minions - arms folded - and watched them struggle to get orders right. Out of lettice - which is fine - something about the CDC etc. But then they were out of soda and apparently cleaning supplies as we could not find a table that was clean enough to sit at. They still gave us cups and charged us for the full combo price .... It's just hard to use them when there is no SODA POP! Where has good management gone ? I have always liked this fresh mex place. We have made a habit of going there about once a week. Lately we have not been satisfied. The service is poor. Nearly everyone working there is new. Prices are up and the portions are down. I just had two enchiladas and they put about one ounce of chicken on each one. This meal used to be hardy and is now skimpy. We ordered the medium size cup of guacamole and they only filled it to about 35%. Costa Vida, do better or you wont see us. read more

So this is our 2nd time here AND with a week. Which means we liked it that much to return so soon. Tooele restaurants are hit & miss so we're happy to have found a decent place finally. It's pretty much chipotle style where you tell them what you want on your plate. I had the sweet pork tacos last week and sweet pork enchiladas today. Both Tuesday's specials which include a drink. I have always been a fan of Costa Vida, but after going there on November 28, 2021, I will not be back!! First off, they have people making your food with hair hanging in their face. Then, another employee was popping their zits, and then making our food. Being completely grossed out, my husband asked to cancel our online order we placed, (which wasn't ready when we got there), and the employee didn't know how do to do it. The manager wouldn't come out of the back room to help anyone with the computer system either. So, we left with a hand written note saying that they will refund us back our $28 we already paid, and that never happened. I called the location a few days later, and left my name and number so the manager would call me back, and they never have!! So, now I was charged $28 for food I never received!!! I will not be back, and I have disputed the charge with my credit card company. I don't know if it's under new management, but just like every other business in Tooele, they don't care, so neither do I!!! I won't be back, and I suggest you eat somewhere else!!! read more

Great Service tonight! The line was short and quick and our salads were made to order! (You gotta get the steak salad, it's the best!) FOOD IS SO GOOD!!!!! Im going there all the time!!!! I can't get enough!! I feel so full and healthy after I leave also! Not to mention I get sides of their meat and pico to go and use it in my dinners at night so I don't have so much to cool for the family, it's the greatest thing ever! I've always had a great experience when visiting this costa vida. The food is always well prepped and tastes delicious. I also like the fact that the food is always consistent. This sits right by a cafe rio and I'm sure it blows that place out of the water! The price is fair, but I've noticed that they tend to run out of desserts often. My boyfriend and I went there when they just started closing at 10 on Fridays and Saturday's and we went in probably 45 min to them closing and when we walked in they just looked at us like 'why are these people here' but we Walked up and waited for a few minutes and then they took our order even though we were the only ones there. My boyfriend ordered shrimp tacos and the guy said okay but that will take 10 mins and he said that's okay and so he went to go make them and this other guy got his attention and said that they are out of shrimp on a Saturday night and that they were getting a truck on Sunday.... which I was very doubtful about. And then he asked this girl next to him if they had any and I saw that guy that had told us they were out give her a look behind the guy that was helping us and she hesitated and then said they were out... I said okay then and my boyfriend said just forget it and we left. I actually really love Costa Vida but the one in tooele I've had things like this happen every time I go there so now we have to unfortunately have to avoid that one. read more

We were very disappointed in the service we received tonight. When we got there, they said that they were out of rice for the night at 8:20 but they don't close until 9. So that whoever comes in over the next 40 minutes won't have rice. I ordered a sweet pork quesidilla and they gave me one that was already made. They told me it was cooked "just a minute ago" but I didn't see them make it while I was waiting in line. In the past when I've gone there it has come with lettuce and Pico but tonight they only offered me rice and beans and since they were out of rice I just ended up with half a container of beans. Also when I asked if my quesidilla came with lettuce and Pico the guy who was helping me said no and then went right on to the next customer. He didn't offer me any. Our Costa Vida and Cafe Rio are in the same parking lot in Tooele, UT. I felt bad when Cafe Rio built where they did so I try to go to Costa Vida. Tonight I took my family there. The kids working there were very slow. They were out of steak, which was what the kids wanted as a treat. We had to repeat ourselves a lot. The portions were ridiculous. Small amounts of meat, rice, beans and lettuce. When we went to pay they didn't have our order right, they were missing one whole order. I had to tell them 3 times what we had to get it added correctly. After I paid I saw a charge for Fresca. They said it was for the pico!! When I asked for extra pico I was charged for a 4 oz Fresca to cover the small extra scoop of tomato. Fine, charge more, but I was annoyed they didn't tell me it was going to be more and then didn't even have a menu item to add the appropriate charge. So, I went there to support the original company that was in town and was treated with smaller portions and nit picky employees. Glad you got the extra dollar for the pico because next time Cafe Rio will get $40 from me instead of you. read more
