I pointed them to my exterior tank covers that they removed carefully as with replacing them as if no one ever came. They accessed the tank covers easily and told me the rebar handles may need to be repaired at next service but also told me how if I wanted to do it. And under an hour they were done. Someone apparently sent them over to retrieve equipment accidentally left behind and gave them the padlock code, and they drive their giant truck right onto my property with no warning, no request for permission, and no advance checking with me to confirm whether today was okay. Then they left the gate half on and half off the anchor posts and merrily drove away. AND - They left one of the gates just dangling. They didn't even bother to set it back on the post. Those gates weigh a hundred pounds each, which is about what I weigh, and I had to leave work and run over to secure the gate before the fence fell over again. They might be very good at delivering Porta-Potties, but I don't want anyone walking onto my property as if they own the place. My liability insurance won't cover them if they are injured while they are on my property without my knowledge and consent.

Grandfather, father, and son arrived on Saturday morning on a holiday weekend to begin the rescue operation on this old system, explained everything thoroughly, educated me along the way, and spent most of the past week digging, cleaning, upgrading, and getting the system working again . . . all in a spirit of good humor and respect for a widow with zero experience in this realm. In the process, they kept us functioning on a minimal use plan (no laundry) so that we had most of the creature comforts with minimal disruption to our everyday lives. They carefully covered holes in the ground to protect children, pets, and wild creatures from the ongoing work and used cameras and other electronics to assess the problem areas in a system that is now obsolete. They left the work area clean and neat, holes filled, dirt raked, septic system functioning. They promised to come back in a month to check the status of their work. Now to be sure that I do periodic maintenance going forward so there are no more emergency calls!!
