I went here to get my haircut and full set of highlights. I should have known better when I made the appointment. When I showed up I was informed it would be $100 a hour. I thought okay it would be $150-$200 at the most. The stylist who did my hair was the manager. She charged me $348. Who in the heck charges that much. The left side of my hair was must blonder than the right side and the highlight did not go all the way to the scalp. The time she was charging me for she was cleaning salon sweeping floors folding towels and even snacking. I understand my hair had to set but don't charge me for that time. She even had the nerve to ask if I wanted my hair blow dryer and curled. It was not included in the price and the charge would be a la carte. I was ripped off and taken advantage of. Cost cutters has continued to go down hill since being bought by the current franchise a few years ago. They keep upping prices but don't provide the education to keep stylists up to date on education to reflect the higher prices. The building itself hasn't being fixed up in years, it's falling apart, the sign is raggedy, wallpaper coming off the walls, and just has an outdated look. You can't charge 2023 prices with 2000's looks and knowledge. The business has a hard time staying staffed with says a lot, good employees leave because of how businesses treat them. Among their price increases on guests they changed the employee pay scale in 2023 to effectively pay stylist and managers less so they can pocket more despite the workers doing all the work. They preach respect, responsibility and reciprocity, but those values are seriously lacking among upper management. They will lie to state governing boards to make sure you don't get paid for vacation time THEY approved because theyre cheap and lack morals. If you're sick or can't make it into work for any reason they will retaliate and cut your hours to try to make you quit. Long story short, if you're a stylist looking for employment RUN. And if you're a guest who values how your stylist is treated then I wouldn't do business with any of the cost cutters in town. read more

Angel was amazing. I walked in and was immediately greeted by three charming stylists. The banter was light and fun both with and amongst them all. I needed an all-over hair fix. Angel gave me her professional opinion, options, and explained the benefit for or against the choices. I ended up with a cut, color, highlights, and toner. It was a great experience. This business is poorly run, both by management/upper management and it looks awful. How're you going to charge more 'upscale' prices for color as stuff and look like a rundown chop shop? You can go to an independent place for similar prices instead of supporting this chain. read more

If you're a hairstylist looking for a place to work, RUN from this place.... this used to be a great opportunity (when I first started working here) for those just getting out of hair school looking to start right away and gain experience, but they've changed a bunch of their policies so much, that now this place has become a mess...if you don't agree with something and suggest a new idea they'll retaliate against you and cut your hours... they want you to be available for them, upsell product and services, but complain and "can't guarantee" the vacation time you put in from the beginning of this year. Oh and if you do still take that vacation time and they can't cover it, they'll cut your hours for the following week, but don't worry the manager (whos diane now) will be able to take her vacation at the same time you wanted it because she "got it approved" before you... all that they care about is getting their own money while you struggle to make ends meet and work like a dog.. they charge upscale prices to clients when their cost cutters sign is falling apart, all the chairs in this salon are broken, the carpet looks dingy, and no one mops the floors because they don't get paid enough to clean, cut hair and do all the side work that they do and in all honesty they should hire someone to deep clean the place.... it's no wonder why people think it's so expensive, they're overcharging with no incentive to the clients... the clients might as well just go to an upscale salon to get their money's worth. They dont advertise to get more clients for you, no coupons to get more clients in, but you're not allowed to take clients with you because it's "their clients". The phones haven't worked in 2 months when I worked there, but don't worry they'll just take their sweet time to try and fix it while the clients slowly stop coming through because they think the place shut down. You might as well open your own place before you work here for the amount of work to get your name out there and how much you'll work. Oh and must I not forget the hypocrisy and favoritism there is here. Diane expects everyone else to open/close/work by themselves but will close the shop early for one person because they "refuse to work alone" but she'll threaten to cut the hours of a religious person because they can't work the weekends.... sounds like discrimination to me....so if you kiss the company's butt you'll get a little further, but they'll replace you in a drop of a hat if they want you to do something and you dont do it. read more

I have had such good experiences at this location. I have short hair that I don't color or perm, so a place like this is perfect for me. I have never had to wait much longer than 5 minutes & often times- the wait is less. The cutters are friendly & efficient. I can't say how they would be with a complicated service like a color, but for cuts.....they acre great! read more

Angel saved the day for me and my mother! She really is an Angel, so her name fits . My mom's hair was in very bad shape from months of hospital stays, and Angel was SO sweet and patient with her. She got my mom's hair looking much better and much healthier, and was extremely kind and professional the whole time. Alexis was there and helped so much too, she made sure the experience was sanitary and covid-safe, and was also very sweet to my mom. Busy busy busy! If you walk in, expect to wait. Do yourself the favor of calling to see how long the wait is. When I called, I was told it would be a forty minute wait. SO I asked instead if I could schedule myself for a haircut in, say, 40 minutes. No prob! I walked in, checked by my name, and was called for my haircut in 5 minutes, walking past a bunch of confused-looking faces who had been sitting there since well before I had arrived. The haircut was nothing fancy. But then again, I just wanted a barber, not a stylist. So I was more than happy with the results. This was my first time at this location, and I would not recommend going here. All I needed was a simple trim, so I decided to stop by sort of last minute. Initially, I wasn't too thrilled because the young lady on the phone sounded rude, but I figured maybe she was just busy and decided to go in anyways. Although all the women working were pretty nice, I was immediately turned off by there being left over hair ALL over the place even though there was only one other customer in the shop besides myself. Ashlee was the hairdresser that cut my hair, and she didn't bother to clean up the hair around her chair or off her scissors and comb before beginning on my hair. I couldn't see if they were the pair she used on me or not, but I think leaving your station a mess like that is very unprofessional. Anyways, as the haircut went on I noticed she was becoming quite rude. She seemed annoyed by any question I asked her and made it seem like I was dumb for not knowing the answers myself. She was also EXTREMELY rough, constantly ripping through my hair and scratching my face and ears with the comb. In the end my hair looked okay, but I left with a whopping headache and probably more split ends than I should have because of how rough she was. read more

this is my first time going to this location, my experience was okay. nothing too special about it. This location seems to be busy maybe because the location is near pima west campus and a lot of students come here. but when I walked in I was greeted but left standing there for a few minutes, I felt the stylists should have been more friendly to customers coming in. my wait was 30 mins long which seems to be the average for cost cutters or super cuts. the only problem I think is the lack of customer service read more

I have reviewed this salon before, but it was over a year ago, so I want to review again. I love this salon. I don't always get the same stylist, but I have always been happy with the cut. I also haven't had to wait long to get my hair cut and therefore have never used the "call ahead" feature. I've had my hair cut here a few times. Two of the three times it was a good haircut,last time wasn't that great. I was very limited on time so I thought I would call-in and they said it would not be that much of a wait. One of the hair stylists told me a couple times that I was next. When she finally told me to come back, after waiting for a while, another stylist abruptly came up and said "no this other guy is next." Apparently they don't honor it when you call in ahead of time. I love going in there to get my eye brows waxed. Never had a problem with getting right in. My only complaint is actually Tori the Store Manager of all people. She's great with adults, terrible with children. Took my child in to get a hair cut and a little boy was getting his haircut and she was jerking his head around telling him to stay still in a non- patient kind way. Yikes, my kid was next and prayed I didn't get her since this was her first haircut. Nope, she did the same thing to my kid. Impatient and a bad first experience for her first haircut. I used to come here a lot, I get bored with my hair easily. The last time I went to get my hair CUT I wanted a pixie cut, I even provided a picture. The MANAGER cut my hair, it was horrible. It looked nothing like the picture I showed her, I even left the picture out for her to look at while she was cutting my hair. I asked her to style it for me like it was in the picture, and she styled it like my grandmother would style her hair. I'm 16. Not 60. I was horrified, and now my hair looks like a mess. The very last time I went was because they were having a sale for highlights. I walk in, and the regular girl that cuts my hair asked me, "Did you cut your hair yourself?!" Thats when I knew for SURE that I was never EVER going to get my hair cut there again. I am stuck with hideous hair, and now I have to wait to get it cut again by quality hair stylists. I also now have to shell out more money to get it fixed, when this shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. Do NOT go here. EVER. They will mess up your hair read more

I've been to this location many times over the past several years. Sometimes you get a decent cut, which is all I expect...I know it's not Gadabout...and sometimes you get a terrible cut. After a couple of bad experiences, I tried calling to see if they'd allow me to make an appointment with the manager (she'd cut my hair before and was very good) for a haircut. Sure, I was told, no problem and made an appointment for an hour later that same day. When I arrived, I was told the manager wasn't even there, and further, the girl at the desk (who apparently had no customer service skills at all) didn't even bother to apologize or to explain a thing. Blank stare. Just asked if I still wanted a cut. I was desperate, and though pretty irritated, I accepted. Wound up with another extremely mediocre haircut. After a prior horrible cut from one of their stylists, which even my husband noticed and commented on (you know it's bad when even THEY say something!), I was pretty much done with going to Cost Cutters.
