I went to this location for color and cut on October 3rd. This was after an initial appointment, during which a bit of hair was cut for strand testing. I was told it would need to be a 3 step process, done over the course of 2 appointments. First bleach, then one type of dye. And 10 days later, I'd have the final stage, involving more dye, to finish the look.
I wanted red. I brought a photo of rich, dark red hair. I specifically said I did not want it to be more orange.
Disaster is not a strong enough word to describe what my hair looked like after. As the stylist was rinsing out the bleach, he was bitching about how he really doesn't like the products they use there, and I'm thinking... you tell me this NOW? That's when I began to worry.
My worry was not unfounded. My hair was clearly orange. Oh, and the time estimate he gave me was half the length of time he actually took to do it. In fact, he had to stay to close up past business hours because he wasn't finished and couldn't send me home that way.
Ultimately, I had places where the bleach didn't seem to have even made contact with my roots (he didn't want to "burn" my scalp, so apparently he just skipped the roots entirely in some spots). I had at least three shades of red, varying from ginger to neon orange. It was a wreck. I was devastated. Ironically, I didn't just do it at home because I really wanted a very specific shade of red, and reds are hard. I'd have been better off had I done it at home.
I called to speak to the manager. I explained everything in great detail. She asked if I'd let a "more experienced" stylist work on my hair to try to fix it, free of charge. I said, honestly, after hearing your employee trash your products? No. I'm not comfortable letting anyone there touch my hair.
After that, she called her supervisor. They decided to give me a full refund. That was somewhere around October 13th.
It's now December 7th and I have not gotten my refund. I will be filing a complaint with my bank, to try to get a refund. I had to go elsewhere to get my hair fixed, costing me another $65 on top of the $113 I spent at this Cost Cutters.
I will never set foot in there again, and if you care about your hair, I strongly advise you don't, either. At least not for anything more than a very basic cut. read more
