We have a history with snacks from Japan, and we struck gold with Daiso in Clearwater FL!…read more This store advertises itself as a seller of Japanese household good, and we stopped in to see if they had any cute magnets we could get for a 2-year-old in the family. While we fanned out through aisles of kitchen and beauty products, useful gadgets and supplies, I went looking for snacks. I found wall refrigerators on the left near the front of the store filled with all sorts of beverages. I got a couple of canned and bottled coffee drinks, which we all agreed were nicely flavored and quite sweet. We got our favorite, Ramune: a mild tasty lemonade with a slight fizz. The bottle is unique, with a clear marble trapped in a little chamber that rattles when you drink or pour and is said to help keep the light carbonation longer. And it has a push-button top that you press in to open and to release the little ball into the bottle. I think the fun of opening it and hearing that rattle are a big part of the fun of drinking Ramune. There are several flavors, but we always get the original lemonade flavor. Nearby, I discovered a snack rack, and behind it there were at least two whole aisle-sections filled with every Asian snack and treat that I know! All flavors of Pockys! All flavors of filled Panda cookies! Crispy snacks with shrimp and fish and chicken flavors! And the candy from Japan that I look for everywhere, that is hard to find outside of Asian neighborhood stores in Chicago and NYC ... Botan Ame! It's little cubes of soft translucent rice-candy, very lightly flavored, and double-wrapped: the inner wrapper is melt-in-your-mouth rice paper! The flavor is said to be lemon, but only very mildly lemon orange (imitating pomelo fruit), very mildly creamy, very mildly rice-y. There are several flavors available, including strawberry or pomelo, but I've always gotten the original. It's gently chewy, originally meant to imitate the softness of caramel-candy, or you can try to wait and let the candy dissolve after the rice paper is gone, though i've never heard of anyone who waits that long before biting in :-). The closest candy texture that i know of is fresh soft Turkish delight. And similarly, Botan Rice Candy gets tougher if you leave it on the shelf a long time. I suppose it dehydrates a little. I read it was invented in 1924. Long ago we only saw the same candy called Tomoe Ame, and the brightly colorful red and green or red and blue box looked almost the same. Each box used to come with a little plastic or metal toy, but eventually that changed to temporary tattoos of cute cartoon characters. Nowadays I've seen Tomoe Ame in large bags, too, online. I was happily lost in the candy, snacks, and beverages, and have no idea what everyone else bought. I'm pretty sure we did come home with some stickers and magnets and maybe some little toys. I myself found my new source for good old rice candy! To (mis)quote Shakespeare, What's in a name? That which I call Tomoe Ame, by any other word would taste as (slightly) sweet :-)

I came in with so many different type of recommendation requests (Angel tree gifts, teen birthday, my teens request, etc.). I was promptly helped, Tiffany sprayed the scent so I could smell and was very thoughtful in telling me why she had the specific recommendation. Gayle was very helpful at the register with making sure that I checked to see if I had any offers on my account etc. Both associates had big smiles and such a positive attitude! Store was clean, well stocked and organized. Thank you!

The store is well organized and for the most part has everything you need, with certain stuff being online exclusives. They got handsoaps, aromatherapy scents, and even soaps and hygiene supplies for men! Everyone here in general is super helpful and friendly (Shoutout to "Mo" with helping me and giving recommendations with my Mother's Day shopping!), and it honestly was a really nice shopping experience. Like with any Bath & Body Works, my only gripe is how they're basically a season ahead which makes it feel wildly out of place, but sadly that's retail nowadays. If you ever come by Countryside Mall, definitely give this place a go! It's a small but cozy little shopping spot where you can get whatever you need for hygiene.

I typically shop at this store. They always have amazing prices and quality clothing; however,…read moreafter my experience today I will think twice about buying from this location. Before I arrived at the register, there was a little jingle that went off and then the customer service manager praising getting another credit card opened. Which small wins are small wins, but the check out associate said under his breath "another one". Then proceeded to check me out for the shorts that I had wanted and kept pushing the credit card after I politely declined it. I had forgotten my card and even tried to call me back to the register to open up a credit card with the store saying " it was no problem, and I could open one". Unreal! so pushy! Focus on gaining your customers trust rather than pushing something in front of them. I hope they celebrate the small win of my no sale at all after that experience.

Sephora cut their contract with JCP, so the Sephora space is now dedicated to makeup, but it's the same brands you can get at Walmart or a drug store, like CoverGirl. When I stopped in, I was specifically looking for work pants and summer shoes. The shoe section lacked inventory; the display shoe would be out, and then maybe 3 sizes were available below it. I wear a pretty common shoe size, but even that was hard to find. I did score a few pants from the petite section, and I definitely appreciated that they had a petite clearance space separate from the regular women's clearance; made pant shopping so much easier there. I got some non-clearance ones as well; there always seems to be sales in store that can be stacked with coupons on the app, so definitely check for those!

I went on my lunch break during a workday the first time and it was fairly quiet, but that gave me ample opportunity to browse and ask the associate questions. She was a sweetheart; kind and patient, very knowledgeable about products, and actually the daughter of the store's owners so helping keep that small family business feel despite this being a franchise. I decided to try out a bunch of the bar soaps first; I prefer those over liquid soaps simply for the environmental factor of less packaging. The fragrances were fabulous in terms of both variety and strength. I lean towards fruits and sweets, but there was plenty of florals, musks, and clean scents too, & I ended up bringing home 8 different soaps to try. I wish I had a list of which ones I had purchased now that I'm home so I can buy them again in the future, but oh well, live and learn. My second visit was on a Friday afternoon and it was a touch busier while I was here today, but nowhere near overwhelming. This time a different associate was working and she was prepping for a bath bomb making party - how nifty is that, these special events they do?!? I took advantage of their summer end of season sale and another coupon to try out some bath bombs and candles this time. Obsessed with how soft and buttery the bath bomb had my skin feeling afterwards! I'd say it's on par with something you'd get from Lush, though no where near as colorful. I will definitely be a continuous customer!

This past weekend, I took her on down to Magnolia Soap and Bath Company in Clearwater, and Lord have mercy, did I hit a home run. From the moment we walked in, the place just radiated charm--bright, fresh, and inviting, like a little slice of Southern hospitality wrapped up in soap and fragrance. But what truly made the visit shine wasn't just the products, it was the young lady workin' behind that counter. Her knowledge, her patience, and her genuine enthusiasm turned what could've been a quick stop into an experience we'll be talkin' about for quite some time. She treated my wife like a queen, walkin' her through scents, explaining ingredients, and showing us how everything was made with care. That level of customer service? Rare these days. She didn't just sell us soap--she gave us a memory. And my wife, well, she was grinnin' ear to ear the whole ride home. If you're lookin' to impress your better half--or just treat yourself to somethin' crafted with heart and soul--do yourself a favor and stop into Magnolia Soap and Bath Company in Clearwater. Southern charm, first-class service, and products that'll leave you feelin' downright pampered. Magnolia, you've earned yourself a lifelong customer.
