Although it's more expensive than the Greggs just around the corner, Cornish Bakehouse is usually the one with the longer queues come lunchtime.

As you enter the market you will be greeted by the same smell of fresh fish that has filled my childhood memories of this place. Once you've passed the fresh fish it may be fresh donuts, fresh fruit, not so fresh books or even freshly baked bread you smell. The latter will be coming from The Bread Stall. It can be found on the lower level of the market and it's a busy little stall. It's got bread of all varieties freshly delivered that day, as well as loads of cakes and other baked treats. If you're unfamiliar with Welsh cakes then it's crucial that you go right now to buy one for a mere 40p from The Bread Stall. If it's night time then perhaps that is slightly unreasonable and I will allow you to wait until the morning.

As such I really appreciate good fresh bread, and how different it tastes from cheap supermarket sliced cardboard. This bread stall does not sell the best bread I have ever baked or tasted but it does sell nice, fresh, cheap-enough mostly white rolls. Lots of them. They sell white Petit Pans, Soft Baps and Finger Rolls at about 25 pence each. They also sell large and small cracked wheat (brown) rolls, crunchy French Sticks and ready-sliced tin loaves. It being a market in Wales, you can also buy Welsh Cakes (picau ar y maen, pice bach, cacen gri or teisen radell) here by the truckload. Indulge and wolf down with tea.

Located in an area that if you did a knee slide you'd easily pass 5 cafes by the time you stopped (If you were wearing long trousers. You'd stop very quickly if you were silly enough to try this with shorts...) However besides the normal price of tea etc as anywhere round here, what did attract me to it, was the sweets on offer. What I'm particularly talking about is there rocky road cake. Dark chocolate with marshmallows sat in and around it. Think the pair came to just under £5 and which isn't a lot when you've been propelled to heaven thanks to such a Godly desert.

The individual quiches are delicious, with fillings such as roasted vegetables or chicken & asparagus. The decor is fairly plain but it's the baking smells that will draw you in. If you have a sweet tooth, there's obviously a whole array of muffins on offer, with the selection changing each day. They have classics such as blueberry and chocolate chip, plus a high fibre muffin, which you can wolf down while pretending you're doing your body a favour. They also have low fat and gluten-free options. Oh, and if you buy five, you get the sixth free. Personally, I'd prefer some of the other cakes on offer, such as their moist carrot cake or the incredibly rich mud cake. Apparently, they do decent coffees here as well - but I'd rather just grab take away because there are more pleasant cafes around if you want to sit down for a longer break...

I must confess I bought six of them and got another six free the other day thanks to my handy voucher on my iPhone. Needless to say that my belly was hurting after I ate them all in one night. Never again.... The staff members are friendly too recommending their favourite flavours and all the offers they do. They even do massive heart shaped cookies for valentines day. How sweet. Anyway, they also offer more than cookies including ice cream and milkshakes. But if you have ice cream, cookies and then a milkshake you better check yourself into A&E right now. It can get busy on certain periods and I wish there were some kind of seating area for you to relax and enjoy. Besides the lack of seating area, Millies Cookies had a delicious range of freshly baked goodness that will leave you always wanting more. Try not to make yourself sick now!
