I am very disappointed in this management company. Don't waste your time on going out to see rental properties posted. We looked at scheduled time of showings. The sign-up time was for 1pm. We arrived at 1:30. No one was there. The procedure is and is not clear on the web site an interested party must arrive at the exact time indicated. Agent just spends 15 minutes at site. Then the agent moves on to the next. Our next appointment was for 2pm. We arrived at 2:15. The agent was on the way out. She said "I can"t show now. We have rented through Cornette Property Management for over 3 1/2 years now. This has been our first time renting in over 20 years. We are very pleased with the response to any maintenance issues we have had. Nancy is always on top of it and get the job done every time. We have never had any issues with them whatsoever. We asked to have a tree in front of the house we were renting to be trimmed, for SEVERAL months and voice the dangers of it, if not being done. Cornette managed multiple properties in the Sacramento area for my elderly parents for many years. I trusted my parents judgment and the expertise of Cornette Property Management in handling all my parents properties. After my father passed away I stepped in to help my mom. WOW!!! This company should be shut down and what they do is totally not ethical. To all the landowners out there...BEWARE..And to all the tenants out there..Know your rights and only deal in written form with this company. Not once did they ever do a walk thru in over 8 years when they managed the properties. They claimed my 90 year old father was doing them and he would not allow them to do them. I asked if they had that in writing as to protect them as they are required to inspect the properties once a year by state law. Of course they did not have anything. Dumb move on Cornette's part. They do not screen their tenants and do yearly inspections of the property. I was shocked and totally appalled at what I walked into on some of my parents properties. We just had a tenant move out that lived in the house just a little over a year. Had new paint and carpet when moved it. Totally thrashed requiring thousands of dollars in repairs. Needless to say Cornette just placed this same tenant into a new property and NEVER did a check on them with our new property management company. I feel bad for the property owners of that property. They kept tenants deposits when they never should have. They have nothing to lose but the land owner is left with a huge mess, high bills and a possible law suit. Hopefully these reviews are read first before anyone else rents from these crooks. My husband and I rented from Cornette for four years, and paid our rent almost two weeks early each and every month. One month they called my husband to say we were delinquent on our rent. After contending with them and producing evidence that we not only paid, but they had processed our payment, did they admit to loosing track of our payment "because we paid too early". Really? During our tenancy we rarely had a maintenance call, though they acted like complete unprofessional fools whenever we did have a maintenance call. I am now in the process of contesting their deductions from my security deposit. I have left several messages for Judy Cornette in follow up of the formal written contest they received via certified mail. It has been 22 days since their receipt of my written contest, and 6 days since my first phone call. Judy has yet to respond to any of my communication attempts. Cornette Property Management price gouges for cleaning service, and violates landlord tenant laws by not providing an itemized receipt for cleaning services, charging the tenant to make the property cleaner than it was at move-in, and charging for normal wear and tear. No matter how clean you leave the property, they will unlawfully withhold an excessive amount of your security deposit. By all means, avoid renting from Cornette Property Management. read more

I've emailed, I've called and I get conflicting information every single time. At least I now know I wouldn't even consider renting a house they manage. Today, rather than offering to patch me through to an agent; the woman who answered the phone curtly said "I don't have that information, you'd have to speak to an agent". Military renters beware not friendly, rude and disrespectful to my military husband when he gave them orders and submitted them. Orders came 5 days before my husband left & they wouldn't except them and stated it should have been given 30 days with our notice. But the Army doesn't work that way and they know it. We submitted our notice 30 days like they requested. And told them the orders where coming. They didn't care! I don't ever leave reviews but I feel an obligation to warn you about this management. Rented with them for a year. They were horrible. The only person that was helpful was Shannon. When we moved in, there were gouges in the linoleum, divots out of the corners of some walls, black marks, permanent marker, missing hanger bars in the closets. The garage was unswept, the drawers had debris. We had to clean it before we moved in. While we were there, the air conditioner broke, took 5 visits to get it fixed. Was told that 80°f was a normal inside temperature during the summer. We moved out, finally got part of the deposit returned at 20 days (21 days is the law). They're charging $200 for cleaning! For a place that was cleaner than when we moved in! And they're charging us for rent that we paid in full. I suggest anyone thinking about renting from this company find another place. And, if you're a home owner considering them for property management, go somewhere else. Their faulty diagnosis of the air conditioning unit was horrendous. When you look at this and think " the person writing this review was probably a crappy tenant" think again. We were excellent renters and we had one incident toward the end of our stay where Gloria called me and was incredibly rude and told me that in june 2014 I denied access to a city official to follow up on a permit....not the case at all. She was so nasty to me I couldn't believe it. I had an additional encounter with her as well- after that I make sure that its clear that I don't want her contacting me. They are way over charging us for move out issues- i sent a formal dispute and Gloria responded by sending the letter back to us with had written rude notes all over it- very unprofessional. Next step is I am requesting a formal response, something that can stand up in court and I'm restating my dispute along with taking them to small claims court. They are terrible people. read more

Beware! I paid my application fee for a property, I sent them several emails asking about the property- they finally responded that the property was going to be rented to someone else. They indicated I could use the application for another property. I reached out to them several times interested in other properties and they never responded. They sent me a letter for the application fee costs. I only completed the first few steps with Cornette and the decided not to rent from then after dealing with thier bad communication and reading the yelp reviews. I applied online and that was the only good/ easy part of the process. It took them a few weeks to process our application. They NEVER returned our voicemails and it took multiple calls throughout the day to even get ahold of someone to check on things (they never gave us solid answers). When my application was going up the chain they said it takes how long it takes and their is no time frame to let me know if I was approved for the property or not. A week later when they called to let us know we were approved was the only time they acted semi professional they wanted us to put down a deposit before we could even see the house. After debating over night with my partner we decided not to rent from them due to other reviews stating that repairs were not made and deposits were stolen upon move out. read more

I'll preface this post with stating that I have worked in the Property Management industry for 9+ years. My expectations for customer service are really high. When we rented our current home I fully expected an up hill battle with every service request or issue with the house, primarily because the of the Yelp reviews. My wife and I actually discussed it and created a plan for dealing with communication and follow up. Since our move in date we have had several issues with the home. I simply call the number given in the ad, and was cut off before I could complete my sentence and/or ask my questions, and told I need to research the website, get the information there and c/b (twice)... I did as instructed, called back, and again, before I could get out the questions I wanted to ask, I was cut-off and rudely told, the property was still occupied, would not be available for information or showing until after 15th of November, and they were only accepting names and numbers for c/b... I asked could she could at least tell me if the apt is upstairs or down? She reluctantly said "up." Mind you, this is the same property mgmt co.,1 week ago, I was suppose to meet someone at another gated community, and they never showed up... Cornette property management is not a good place to do housing business. They are good at fixing your house, apt. ect. But bad at RETURNING ones DEPOSIT. MAKE sure you do a move in inspection only communicate through email so you can have a paper trail, also take videos, pictures, and have your eye witnesses to help verify. they lied about what I cleaned and the replacement of blinds they try to figure out how to keep your money and break all the rules while making it look legal. I don't know why I didn't listen to the reviews. Before my girlfriend and I turned in our applications we made it clear she works and I resell items on eBay and have no paycheck stubs, but could furnish my eBay sales and bank statements.... The lady said that's fine enough. So we proceeded to pay the $60 application fee. We applied for three houses. It has been 3 weeks and only received 1 call saying our main choice has been rented. Two weeks ago I filed an application with my other. Every time I call them to ask about it, they give me this excuse that our previous landlords never responded to them. I've talked with both landlords in person and they haven't gotten anything from cornette. So not only am I being lied to, but they're not doing their job. Absolutely horrible people. They don't want to rent to students but will not be upfront and honest about it because they want your money from the application fees. They don't mention anything about debt to income ratio in their qualifications but then use it as a reason to deny you. As students, we will be using verifiable student loans to pay for our expenses and we made this clear to them. They never mentioned anything being wrong with that, but denied us anyways. On top of that, we learned that they had sold the property, which is probably why they denied us to begin with. But they're not being honest about it because they don't want to refund us the application fee. They are not that bad. I have been renting from Cornette for almost 2yrs. Yes, they are rude most of the time, but my rent is affordable and my home is nice and they allow me to do most of my communication with them over email so that cuts back on the rude attitudes. I have dealt with Ericka who is really friendly, Brittany is the biggest B in the world and I honestly wish bad things happen to her. Gloria is cranky, but I had to call her on a Saturday to get my AC fixed, everyone is cranky when they are called on their day off and Gloria did make sure I was taken care of so I let the crankiness slide. Sonia has always been really patient with me; she is who I signed the lease with and who took my complaint against Brittany seriously. Aside from rudeness, the communication does suck and seems to be disorganized. I think maybe they are understaffed in the office and this could be causing the fail in communication and the bad attitude. Not sure, but as a single person with no pets, no kids and who is clean and pays on time, I have had very little issues with Cornette. read more

They took our money for application then sent us a letter saying they wouldn't rent us anything. Applied last Thursday paid about $105.00 for 2 applicants fees and 1 co-signer with a credit score of about 800+ credit. Have great rental history not evictions not late rent. Called back on Tuesday to see if we had been approved lady in the front said that she need to see if the PayPal transaction had gone through "even though it had gone through and nothing had been pending that day" just for her to tell us if we had gotten approved or not. We were still denied due to "poor credit score" knowing my wife had called prior to filling out application lady said they would work with us even if we had bad credit. Don't waste your money they will just scam you out of your application fee properties don't even had full pictures of bedroom kitchen etc....... If you are a tenant, they are a hassle to deal with. If you are a property owner, you'll like them. If you are a property owner that cares about your tenants, find another company. I lived in one of their properties for 8 years. I paid my rent on time every month. I found their customer service to be spotty at best. I have a friend who rented from them for 5 years and had a similar experience to me and others who have reviewed them. Needless to say, I am very happy to be out of that property and in a new beautiful home. Of course this is my personal opinion of the company. Very unorganized. They asked for documentation and I sent it 2 times to them and they said they never received it. I called every day for three days confirming no other applicants were in on the property and she said no. Then I finally heard from the applications department and they said 2 or 3 others had already applied. They dont keep you updated and all they say is you will hear back in 24 hours JUST to let you know if they received all the documents, then you pay the credit check and have to wait more. I waited 5 days in total just to hear back if they received everything and STILL didn't get anywhere because they said they never received it. Updated 10/14/17 The companies response on my review 1st of all is very ignorant to attempt and respond regarding my personal business. 2nd your dates were not even lined up in the order you claimed and last I did not give false tenancy apparently my landlord marked he was the owner of the house and to them that was false because it's not what there records show and that is why I was denied but any management company would know that sometimes owners hire other people to manage the property, or homes are in Trusts and not transferred over so not always are the records accurate. The unfortunate part was I really wanted this specific home out of the three applications I put in and I was approved at the other 2 but I was waiting on this property's response for so long i didn't put the deposit down on the other in time. This was the only company that gave me issues. The landlord they made a big issue over was from 2 years ago was not even my current landlord who I know gave me all great references because she said she would be said to see me go after she received there rental history request. I guess I dodged a bullet they don't seem like a great company at all and for them to come on here and air my personal business is actually illegal even if they are wrong on there facts. Very rude demeanor I was waiting in line to turn in an application and the gentleman in front of me apparently had a property he was using cornette to manage he was asking a lot of questions and the girl was obviously annoyed I guess cause she was having to do her job by answering them then she kept trying to refer him back to the website to figure stuff out for himself. Some of the worst property management and customer service I've encountered. Let's start with the Final Inspection Report given to us when we signed the lease. It stated that everything was clean, working, and in general good repair. We show up to move in and the contractor is still in the house working. The place was filthy and items were in disrepair; including two holes in the exterior walls that went clear through to the outside.. When told about this, they asked me to finish the repairs myself. After much arguing; they finally agreed to have their handyman fix everything. Whenever anything needs to be fixed, it's an ordeal. Nancy who is the contact for maintenance is short and borders on rude. Almost everything becomes a fight. The latest insult is the lack of notification for contractors showing up at the house. They are quick to remind me that if I miss a scheduled appointment that they will "fine" me; however they don't seem to think that actual notification of the appointment is their responsibility. They leave it to the contractors to notify and set appointments. I found someone in my backyard today with a camera putting together an estimate for repairs. read more
