This restaurant bar hit its zenith when it opened two years ago and never plateaued... it remains beloved.
Located in Amsterdam's highly coveted and mushrooming Noord, cornerstore has a cue outside every night of mostly statuesque, stunning women (Dutch girls are so tall!) and equally handsome men... looking freshly showered and carefully styled.
People make an effort to look their casual best here.
The food and drinks are good but probably not the first or even the second reasons you are there.
The menu is Asian fusion-ish, with plenty of vegetarian offerings. There's a handful of cocktail options and some excellent organic wines. Everything is ultra fresh and thoughtfully plated.
I am craving the tempura runner beans - not photographed here because I practically inhale them upon arrival - and the goat butter that they serve with their warm, crunchy sourdough is memorable.
The menu changes constantly but do try their take on ceviche... the lime and chili marinaded mullet.
Consider this... cornerstore has a rather gifted photographer on staff, capturing moments at both the front and the back of the house.
Guest djs select tunes from a vinyl collection at the record bar. The sound system and acoustics are impressively good and the light installation changes colors in a delightful way.
This is date night heaven.
