I used to laugh at reviews that poke fun of walk-in clinics, can they really be that bad? Well if we look up 'horrible walk-in clinics', I'm sure Cornerstone Medical Clinic would be right at the top. I rarely give 1 stars, so listen up kiddos.
Access:
Big parking lot, this is a plus.
Lobby/Reception:
For once, a medical walk-in clinic where there are enough chairs for all the patients. I was feeling good at this point, but boy was I wrong. I spoke with the receptionist, inquiring if they still take walk-ins. She was fine at this point, then when I let her know that I was a new patient as well, she chuckled, "Everyone here is a new patient". That's not the right response miss, so I snapped back, "I only wanted to let you know so it would be easier". No response. When I asked about wait time, she noted that it could take around 1 hour. When I asked about washrooms, she said sure, but the one I approached had a huge sign that says "no toilet paper". Why didn't she tell me?
While waiting for my name, I get called to the "Lab". Okay, maybe when you call my name, you can also wait like 3 seconds so you can direct me to the correct location. Luckily enough for me, I was observing all the patients before me and learned of the lab's location. While the lab isn't exactly large in size, it's the area that is situated right behind the front desk. As the nurse is prepping to do my vitals, she is asking for my medical history, and I kept whispering. She seemed to have a hard time hearing, and you know why I whispered? Woman, look at the door, there's another patient waiting there, I don't want him to know my entire medication history! Eventually she realized why I was whispering and addressed the man waiting at the door.
The reception area, while large, is super cold. Most people take off their jackets while waiting to be called. Not here, everyone is dressed warmly because the clinic is too stingy to turn up the heat for SICK PATIENTS.
Doctor/Examination:
What examination? Is this a joke? The nurse had measured my temperature, the doctor looks into my ears, throat, and nose then goes okay, here is your medication! What the actual ...., you didn't ask me how I felt, you didn't ask me if I had other symptoms, and you didn't even listen! I was very ticked off, and started spewing all my problems and demanded an analysis as to how he came up with a conclusion without asking me anything. He seemed a little taken back and explained it was through his observations. And obviously, the entirety of our interaction took a total of maybe 3 minutes max. Worst patient-doctor experience ever. I am not saying he's rude, he smiled alright, but it was too short, too unprofessional, and not patient-friendly. Perhaps my symptoms were not severe, perhaps it's nothing much, but you cannot treat patients as if they were all the same. Communication is key!
I've heard that many walk-ins in Brampton are sub-par, and if they all turn out to be like this clinic...I think I need to take the MCAT and show the world what a real doctor would do. read more
