Customer service was terrible, barbers would comment on how someone smelt after they had left and even suggested bleaching the seat and doorknob because he was "dirty". Best in the business! Want a skin fade? Right down to the wood! I tell them "No machine! Just the scissors, PLEASE not too short!" Perfection every time. My barber wears a pin that says he's vaccinated, so I'm not sure who Bailey's Shoe is, or what he's talking about, but i think he stepped in some dog poo. Mind ya business about someone's religious beliefs Bailey. I wish Cory was still there, he was entertaining, kind of like a clown. Most unprofessional and unfriendly business (of any kind) I've ever visited. Walked in for an appointment, no one said anything to me. Just sat there until someone asked me if I had an appointment nearly 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. The guy said that my barber was outside smoking a cigarette and would be back in a few minutes. Finally got the haircut and it felt like the barber was rushing as fast as possible to get me out the door. Will never be back. read more

I had a great cut by Steven . I popped in Saturday afternoon for a quick clean up. He was very nice . He told me he was booked for the day but if I wanted to come back at 6:30 he'd be happy to take me. That's pretty cool since it was a Saturday! I showed up and he was awesome. Did a nice side shave , great conversation. Being a female in a mans world ( barbershop) I felt really comfortable. The shop is really cool and clean. Seems like a busy place. Just moved to the area and was looking for a new barber. Made an appointment. Walked in and was told the guy I had an appointment with left early (because he got into a fight with another barber at the same location) so I'd get cut by someone else. I wish I walked out. The guy buzzed my head so hard that I have cuts all over. Slammed the buzzer into my head with every stroke. It was more painful than getting a tattoo. Not to mention his hands smelled like straight up poop from cheap cigarettes. The place was filthy. The guy cutting my hair didn't know how to trim hair and had to have someone else come over to take an inch off the top. After my head got mangled, he proceeded to soak a paper towel with alcohol and wipe my entire head. I know this is a customary process but not the entire head especially after getting my head scraped up. It's hard to stop once someone starts cutting and you are at their mercy so I didn't say anything. I paid and got the hell out of there. read more

Inside was posted signs for social distancing and to "wear masks". Despite this, waiting area chairs were close to each other and no staff or customers had masks on accept for myself. My barber was also saying how he was not vaccinated and yet did not wear a mask. Hair cut was subpar. I showed my barber a photo of what I wanted and a description, yet the hair cut was not what was requested and was uneven on the sides and the back. All that aside, their prices are high ($25 for a hair cut) for the quality I received. You're better off going someplace else. read more

Awesome barber shop. Very clean and bright inside. I started seeing Steve based off a recommendation and haven't regretted it at all. I explained to him what I was wanting in terms of hairstyle and beard line up and he did exactly what I was asking for. He takes his time and asks you if everything looks good before you get up out of the chair. They only accept cash but there's an ATM inside the shop. If you're looking for a barbershop or wanting to switch barbers, I definitely recommend this spot. read more

Saw the great reviews so I convinced my son to get a haircut before returning to college. Despite his claims his hair looked just fine. I convinced him to get it cut. Big mistake!! The place had a few people waiting when we walked in. We was immediately greeted and asked if we had an appointment or was a walk-in. I told the guy my son just needed a trim. He proceeded to yell at the top of his lungs to a guy in another room telling him he was up. The guy yells back he was about to get off and didnt have time to do it. They argued back and forth until finally a guy came downstairs and told my son common over here. Reluctantly my son sat down where the guy asked him what he wanted. My son asked him to just clean it up around his ears and neck and leave the top alone. That was the only words the barber spoke until he finished and said your all-set. When my son turned around to walk my way you could see the guy buzz cut a military style haircut!! It looked awful. My son simply said I told you to leave it like it was...now look at it. I agree with Matt P. and Nancy P. This place has terrible customer service. If you go there -- and you aren't part of the inner circle -- be prepared to wait and watch while "the chosen few" cut you in line. I had Nancy's experience on my first visit, so I booked an appointment the second time I went. No problems. For what would have been my third visit, I called to book an appointment and was told the barber who had helped me on visit #2 had quit. I asked to book an appointment with another guy whose name I knew. I could hear them ask the guy I wanted and they came back and said "When is good for you?" I said, "Any time he has open today." They replied , "He's got nothing today." I said "How about tomorrow?" He asked in the background and then replied, "He's got nothing tomorrow." I said, "How about *any* time next week?" When they asked, I could hear him say in the background, "I got nothing next week." Before they could repeat this to me on the phone, I told the guy, "When you get off the phone with me, please tell him that there will come a day when he'll regret turning away paying customers." Turns out all the barbers had appts lined up from open to close so I had to make an appt and was fortunate enough to get an appt with Luis! He was a little behind schedule but I soon found out why! Adam and the rest of the barbers take time and precision into each customer to ensure each customer is satisfied witjh their haircut. I moved to Rhode Island for my senior year of high school and not being from the island I didn't know many of the good spots for a haircut. After one of my boys gave me the recommendation to come to cornerstone in preparation for our senior prom I gave it a try and I have to say hands down this is one of the best barbershops I have ever been to in my life. In fact I swear by it I will go to no other barber in Rhode Island besides cornerstone even if they are booked I will wait it out because they give consistent clean cuts . I high recommend seeing steve awesome guy and had some great funny conversations. First off, the haircuts are great. I like my hair to be stylish and I always get that from Cornerstone! I'm always extremely satisfied with my haircuts from this place. Also, the staff are extremely friendly, especially Adam who is my go-to guy for cutting my hair (as he's the owner.) One thing I would recommend is to call for an appointment, you can't always expect a walk-in cut, as these men are very busy most of the time and you will have to wait awhile. Do not listen to the other reviews about the bad service, you can't expect to walk in and be accommodated right away, usually all the barbers are busy with appointments. Just tried to take my son in for a haircut today. In typical barber shop style, one would expect first come first serve service unless someone has an appointment. Well this is obviously not the case here. Apparently, if you are not a buddy of one of the barbers, you are ignored. While we were waiting, at least five people came in and just jumped ahead of us with no explanation, very frustrating and very unprofessional! As a side note of disgust, at least two of the goombah barbers were chewing tobacco, yuck! We have been here twice before and had good experiences, very nice haircuts, but after today we won't be back. read more

I had tried barbers from Newport to Fall River and was never satisfied. I did regularly go to All American in Middletown, but it closed abruptly. Most of the barbers there were vets and I liked supporting them. Finally I gave Cornerstone a try. I did feel out of place at first. It's definitely a young guy's shop (not your dad's barber shop). But they all seem highly skilled in the many contemporary hair styles. And there is a vibe. These guys never seem bored. They're actually excited about their work. I was a walk-in and learned quickly that appointments are preferred. These are easily done by phone or text. I hooked up with Cory the first time and have been going back to him since. Went to Cornerstone a few months after they opened as I live two blocks away. The haircut was simply awful so I went back to Junior's on Metacom Ave. Well, Junior's moved further down Metacom and further away from my home so I decided to try Cornerstone again.
