So close to everything, markets, mall, easy access to major highways.15-minute commute to downtown Albany. Apartments were well maintained and very large for the $$$. The most important aspect for me living alone and being an older woman was how comfortable and safe I felt there. Never a hint of trouble in my 20 years there and Neighbors were very friendly. I recently moved to a warmer climate, but my miss the home I made there, it was a great place to live. If you are look for a reasonably priced, safe and comfortable place to live look no further than Hawthorne Gardens.

Our very cozy apartment is ground level, which comes with a few drawbacks (mostly that bugs find their way in more easily, and increased humidity = mold growing more easily). But the maintenance team is very responsive in helping manage these. These apartments were converted from an old folks home so if you're lucky; you'll get a wheelchair accessible apartment with some extra elbow room. The community feels very safe and friendly, walking distance to a variety of stores. Laurie (the property manager) is a sweetheart and will help you feel that you're right where you need to be.

The building management and maintenance staffs are outstanding. There is a Building Manager here seven days a week. The maintenance staff has responded to a few requests of mine promptly, did the work correctly, and left the area clean. The grounds are lovely and back on to The Crossings park. Other residents are friendly but not intrusive. Honestly, I can't imagine a better apartment complex to live in in this area.

DO NOT MOVE IN. To start - Laura (manager) is a nightmare. As many in the building also have the…read moresame feeling, she is cold, unfriendly and does not care about anything but money. Another tenant after telling him this story said she did the same to him with the "nickel and diming". (I told her this over the phone and she said "she doesn't care" with a terrible attitude). A reference to this would be that she lied and did not tell me that the prior tenant had passed away in the apartment which I found out through another tenant on my last day of moving out. I asked why it smelled so awful when I looked at the apartment and she said that it was because the man did shower himself properly as he was in a wheelchair. I would never have moved into this apartment had I known this. According to NYS law the landlord is required to schedule a walk-through no later than 14 day prior to the tenant moving out WITH the tenant. Laura did not do that. At this time I would have specifically understood that I had to replace the carpet (which is also crazy) to let me know that I would have to put it in the condition they required upon move out. I scrubbed the apartment top to bottom - this should not include normal 'wear and tear' which includes baseboards, rugs and walls. She said it was 'absolutely disgusting'. I am a clean person and to be charged over a thousand dollars and not get my $1650 security deposit back is ludicrous. Also I had one of the maintenance men check out the walls before moving out they said they were completely fine and they "paint over them anyway". Yet, I am charged hundreds of dollars. Neither the carpet or walls were damaged - I never hung one thing from the wall other than a TV (which was filled prior to move out). The carpets were dirty from normal wear and tear - no damage done and I left them, and the entire place, vacuumed. There, as pictures show, are indents in the carpet from a bed, this is classified as "damage". Are tenants supposed to sleep on imaginary beds? These are the duties of a landlord to take care of. It's insulting beyond words. Also, apparently "scrubbing the tiles" is something that needed to be done. Had she followed NYS guidelines I would have known about having to "scrub" tiles - which I left vacuumed and swiffered. This is nothing but a money hungry woman trying to pull a fast one on tenants. Good thing the law favors tenants. I have email correspondences supporting my claims and it will be a shame to take this to court. Renter beware. Many other places around.

The apartment is very very dark and the humidity was very high. They did provide a dehumidifier but expected us to run it and pay the electric. Our heating/energy bill was never as high as it was living here. The apartments must have built on swamp lands. The engineer/designer should issue a full refund for these poorly designed apartments. I would never rent from Rosetti again. We lived there for 1 year and they didn't tell us before we moved in that the property would not be finished for another year +. Then, when they issued our renewal, they wanted to increase the rent! LOL

They have 10 year old rugs which when you compare different areas/rooms the carpets are two different colors (from how long they've been left uncleaned) and are making us sick. The house and the rooms inside it including the kitchen and bathroom are 20 years old in itself and on the verge of falling apart. They told us there would not be pest issues especially in the basement but we have mice, bugs, and all sorts of pests especially in the basement. Yet, when you ask maintenance to fix anything including the pest issue they always go to charge you right of the bat. We stayed one year and paid $30,000 dollars total. Now they are asking for $2750 per month. I want to give them zero stars but this review site only allows me to only give one at the very least. It's the worst place to live and I'd only recommend it to anyone who wants to be miserable as long as they stay here.
