It's a real shame to post this as the staff and teachers here are truly caring and knowledgeable. Since the change in directors a few months ago though our son has increasingly struggled without receiving the help he needed. He was branded as a problem child for not wanting to engage in activities all the time and for misbehaving. Again, he is 3 years old and when there are 20+ toddlers running around in a single room with just 2 teachers, I'm not sure what they expect. I've frequently seen other children pushing, biting, hitting, and engaging in the usual sort of behavior that young children engage in as they learn social norms. All of which is tolerated even though it is a safety issue. Our son was singled out though and it soon became apparent that the leadership was more concerned with documenting everything for purposes of covering themselves rather than coordinating with his pre-k teachers on ways to help him. We are now stuck in a very difficult position of having to separate our son from his friends and teachers. As a final slap in the face we were told that he could still visit for a week or so as long as someone was available to pick him up at any time. Now ask yourselves this question...why would anyone need daycare if they were already available to get him? We are reasonable people who love our son, and we can say without hesitation that the past several months at Growing Green put incredible stress on our son and family. Communication with parents is poor, and they will not hesitate to expel your child if he isn't able to conform easily. In short, research your options beforehand and don't make a decision based on a single discussion or tour. This decision can have a serious impact on your family as it has ours.

Finally a worker came in for her shift and let me in. We were brought into a room different than what I was told and there was one teacher to about 15 kids. The teacher told me she never was given any paperwork on my kids and she was already overwhelmed as it was because the other teacher was not there yet. Because she was not given paperwork she needed my girls d.o.b so I told her them and she wrote it on her hand. I went extra early for their first day and ended up late to work. At the end of the day I went to go pick my kids up. Once again I stood in the dark entrance (office was closed) . Someone finally saw I was there after another 10 minutes and I was let up to get my kids. My 10 year old daughter told me there were constant fist fights between the kids and tons of cussing. She said the teacher didn't address the cussing at all. She also told me that there was an older kid who wouldn't leave my little one alone. She was very uncomfortable there. Also did I mention the teachers butt was hanging out of her pants as well? Yeah..I never brought my kids back. Director didn't even follow up with me after I told her that I was pulling my kids out.

A few weeks ago, I was told that I…read morecouldn't leave my daughter in the kids' club because I didn't have her diaper bag with me, even though I was in the process of retrieving it from the car. The staff member was very rude and unhelpful, making me feel uncomfortable for simply trying to make sure my daughter was well cared for. Today, I came prepared with the diaper bag in hand, yet I was informed that my daughter would not be allowed to stay due to the previous complaint. It's incredibly frustrating to be penalized for something that was out of my control, and it's upsetting to feel like my daughter's well-being isn't their priority. I decided to cancel my membership today because I cannot justify paying for a service where my child is not welcomed or cared for properly. I will not be returning to a facility that doesn't offer reliable and respectful service. Unacceptable, and I would not recommend the YMCA to others based on this experience.

Do not bring your children here. It's a large class and all the children are together. They admit…read moresick children daily, and our daughter stays constantly sick during the winter. That would be tolerable, but the kicker is that they will randomly decide that our daughter "Has to go home" because they notice some innocuous symptom. I wouldn't mind if they had a universally strict policy for infection control, but they don't. They allow sick kids to attend regularly, and then randomly send children home with no rhyme or reason. If you need reliable daycare, you can't rely on the YMCA. I'd go elsewhere.
