They have an alphagal friendly menu! It's a cute little place! I hope they get more business!

Unfortunately, the building burned and the restaurant is no longer there. They plan to reopen down the street.

I tried to get lunch here, but in the end I left and went somewhere else for lunch…read more I walked in and the place was empty, but a server was along shortly to seat me. I took a moment to notice the large vintage film projector they had by the door, and the clean, modern, rather dark decor of the place. I won't fault them for any of that. She seated me and asked what I'd like to drink. I asked what they had, and when they said they had Coke products, I asked for a Coke Zero, as I'm watching my calories and sugar. They didn't have Coke Zero, and the only thing they had without sugar was Diet Coke (which they were out of). When they said they were out of Diet Coke, I asked my server what they had to drink that didn't have sugar. . .she got a puzzled look on her face, stared at me for a few seconds like that was a bizarre request, and then said water. She said she was going to go check, she went back and asked someone in the kitchen and confirmed that's it. Water. No other diet drink. No unsweetened tea. On that note, I got up and left. I figured that was a bad start to a meal and the attitude I dealt with in even asking discouraged me even more. If you were here looking to be calorie-conscious (or watching your sugar intake) with what you drank, they didn't have anything for you. . .and even asking got me some funny looks.

The food was not good. I ordered the Homewrecker Nachos, and they were mostly chips with a very…read moresmall amount of toppings. The tomatoes tasted like they had been poured straight from a can, and the nachos were cold when they arrived. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of the food and would not order this again.

Started with giant homemade cheese sticks with marinara sauce. Worth the trip themselves…read more Then had prime rib with a sweet potato. Both were cooked well and were loaded with flavor. We will certainly be back.

We've enjoyed meals at JJ's a number of times; it's under 2 hours to our house in Brentwood and…read moreworth the trip! We've tried the steaks (tender and flavorful), sandwiches (yum! -- the cheesesteak seems packed with flavor and the grilled chicken is tender and juicy), fish and chips (not over-cooked -- lightly battered), and salads (fresh). Save -- if you can -- room for dessert! Everything is great, the portions are generous, and the price is reasonable (a rare find these days). Also, Josh (chef and co-owner) is a deep-fry master. His waffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and mushrooms are over-the-top. Josh sometimes steps out of the kitchen to greet customers and make sure everything is OK. The rest of the staff follow his lead for friendly service. If you get the chance, check out the adjacent, beautiful wine tasting room for Lake Barkley Winery. In addition to tastings from proprietor and builder, Bill, you can pick up some great local wines or some California varieties. Not only did Bill build the tasting room by hand (along with the entire building), he's the vintner who created the local wines from grapes he grew nearby. Get some of his local wine before he runs out of it. The California wines are from a vineyard his relative owns. This really is a family business! The tasting room is gorgeous and could be a great place to rent out for an elegant event. I hear JJ's and Lake Barkley are close to opening a banquet facility upstairs -- can't wait to see that!
