Lucky for us it was really great! I had the country fried steak platter with over easy eggs. My wife had a bacon and egg platter, subbing the toast or biscuit option for a pancake. The pancakes here are offered in two varieties--"thin" or standard. She went standard, which is a thick, fluffy pancake. I haven't seen this style served outside of the many pancake houses in the smoky mountains. Always enjoy those when staying there and this one, judging from my bite, is on par with those. For those unaccustomed to this style, it's far better than you might imagine. The "thin" cakes, which can be ordered in stacks, is what is a "standard" hotcake pretty much anywhere else. My country fried steak was great, eggs cooked to order perfectly. Hot coffee, cheap prices, great service even though they were very busy and our server was juggling a dozen tasks simultaneously.

This is country cooking at it's finest. The baked apples had the perfect balance of cinnamon and sugar and quite literally melted in my mouth. The sausage patties were fork tender and flavorful. I've eaten breakfast in a lot of places and have never had sausage like this! And then there were the chicken tenders. I'm not normally a fan because of heavy breading and little chicken, but these were the opposite of what I thought they were going to be. These tenders were lightly breaded large pieces of perfectly cooked chicken. Last, but not least, there was the coffee. This coffee was so good that it didn't need anything added to it to make it drinkable. I was very impressed with how friendly the staff was, and how they kept the buffet tables clean and well stocked. The only downside is that the place is on the smaller side, and very popular, so it can be a bit crowded. Don't let that be a deterrent, though. The food is worth it!

We pull up next to a little place in town that look like someone's home decorated for Halloween. It is quite charming. The little stone fence around the place with an iron gate is so nice. With a large shade tree up front and a large porch one could see themselves hanging out there a while.
