Barrel 9 is a cozy spot that leans heavily into a light, community-focused atmosphere. The space is…read moredecorated with cute, sassy wine placards (like "Wine Takes the WITCH right out of ME!"), which sets a relaxed tone. The restaurant has been open for four years, but the owners have run the liquor store next door for the past 17+ years. Because of this connection, they sell their wine at the same prices, making the selection and value outstanding.   THE SERVICE * The team graciously accommodated our group of seven. One of the staff was initially a little grumpy because we arrived late due to work commitments (my sincere apologies for that!), but our primary server, Kaytlyn, was friendly and offered excellent recommendations. The bartender, Christine, also took care of us. A major highlight of the night was chatting with Carolyn (owner/cook) and Mike (owner). They are both personable and do a great job cultivating an open, welcoming environment.   THE FOOD & DRINK We ordered a fair number of appetizers for the table, all of which were quite tasty: * Deviled Eggs: A favorite among the table! The addition of horseradish provided a perfectly subtle and delicious kick. * Charcuterie Board for Two: A great, classic grazing option. * Flatbreads: We tried both the Brie & Bacon and the Italian flatbreads, and both were solid. * Smoked Salmon Crostini: A lighter bite. * Spinesto Pomodoro Dip: Flavorful and great for sharing. * Moroccan Spiced Lamb Sliders: Well-seasoned and portioned. * Adelsheim Pinot Noir, Greenwing Cabernet: Two standouts with great value given the retail pricing structure.   OVERALL While the food was thoroughly enjoyable, it was the excellent wine value and the warm conversations with the staff and fellow customers that stole the show. Barrel 9 is a friendly and community-centric place to spend an evening.

Best whiskey selection in southern Maryland (by far). Awesome staff and great food too!read more

There is parking conveniently located near the restaurant, so you don't have to worry about finding street parking. The restaurant was very clean and offered indoor and outdoor seating, along with an indoor bar area. There is also an ATM on-site. I looked at the menu ahead of time and already knew I wanted the Ultimate Seafood Platter, mainly because it included a crab cake. We also ordered oysters as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. Hands down, this was some of the best seafood I've had from a restaurant in a long time. The scallops were plump and juicy, and the fish portion was very generous. I'm usually nervous when a crab cake is included as part of a platter because I expect something small or previously frozen. That was definitely not the case here. The crab cake was a great size and tasted fresh. They offer a traditional version and an "angry" version. I ordered the angry crab cake, and it was seasoned to perfection. The other person with me ordered the seafood pasta, and it was just as impressive. The Alfredo sauce was delicious, with plump scallops, juicy shrimp, and a generous portion of pasta. It also came with amazing rustic, buttery toasted bread. The waitstaff was great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the waterfront view made the experience even better. If you're looking for fresh, delicious seafood with a beautiful view in Solomons Island, I highly, highly recommend The Lighthouse Restaurant!

I was excited once I arrived at the entrance, but was shocked it was another mile and some before actually getting to the tasting room LOL! There were speed bumps, reception was near zero, and parts of the road were heavily covered with trees making it dark... whoa! I finally arrived at the main part though, and finding parking was easy. I passed by a cool looking outdoor tasting room (that currently isn't open) and the vineyards. From the general parking lot, it's a bit of a hike to get to the main building haha. I walked through what looked like a wedding setup, but what really stole the show was the tunnel... you could see real grapes growing in there and it just felt so classy! The building itself was surrounded by tons of outdoor seating, mostly shaded. It was a pretty hot day, so indoor seemed like the move. When I went inside, I must say I was obsessed with the chandelier... and there was live music! I was the first to arrive, so I didn't order any wine yet, but I saw there were a few options... 9, if I recall, including sangria and two slushies. I only ended up trying the semi-sweet red and white... which were actually quite sweet, haha. If those were semi-sweet, I can't help but wonder what the sweet ones are like. The weakest (ABV) wine was 13%, and the others just went up from there... that's up there! Aside from the sweetness, the semi-sweets tasted fine -- I wouldn't consider them refreshing though. Next time I need to try their dry wines next time. Too bad you can't just taste! As for food, they have a food truck outside -- Hungry Hare. the item is already limited, but they were also out of wings and fries. So it was either going to be a hot dog, quesadilla or fancy grilled cheese. We had food plans after, so I opted for a hot dog... but for $5 it's literally just the dog and the bun... that's pricey, isn't it?? It was piping hot and tasty though... but yeah, really expensive. The grilled cheeses were $16 and up and came with no sides. But anyways, the vineyard was beautiful and I would return to try more!

I felt very safe on the rides to and from the wineries. Our host and driver were super friendly and treated us like royalty. Prior to arriving at each venue, we were provided some background and things we should know in advance. She more or less herded us from place to place, which was actually quite comforting. I felt very well taken care of AND seen as I was the only one on the tour not drinking, but I was provided water and other beverages over the course of the day. Oh, and the lunch we received was AMAZING. So much food! I had the roast beef BLT, which came with a bag of chips, pasta salad, and a dessert. Definitely recommend!

While I've visited before for a wine tasting, this time I attended their "Tuscan Table" summer pairing dinner, and it was an incredible experience. The evening featured a four-course Italian meal each dish thoughtfully paired with wines from the vineyard. Every pairing felt intentional and elevated the overall dining experience. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect intimate, relaxed, and welcoming. We truly enjoyed the company of the other guests at our table, and by the end of the evening, it felt like we were all one big family sharing a meal together. A couple wines were a bit too sweet for me. Unfortunately they didn't have anything with bubbles...darn! but it was all good! The frozen red wine slushie was pretty good...I think they should offer this in a larger size lol The grounds were lovely and it wasn't busy at all. We really picked the perfect day to come. I ordered two glasses of sparkling rosé. Both were hefty pours :) there was a very wide selection of wines to choose from. The cocktail menu was super creative and drinks were names of songs by popular artists. I almost got the "Too Drunk to F***" but decided to save that for next time. The menu is limited, but enough choices to snack on and share without leaving hungry. We chose the marinated olives which were served with baguette slices. There were a variety of olives, including several types of green olives, and I believe some Kalamata olives. This was reminiscent of an olive tapenade which I almost would've given the bread that was served with it. We also ordered the cheese shortbread, which was tasty. We had narrowed it down to two flat breaths, but went with the caramelized onion flatbread. It did not disappoint. I love onions, so could have even went with a few more onions on there. It was the perfect size to share or as a standalone meal for one. We finished with the peach buttermilk cake. Again, it was the perfect portion to share. I especially loved the ice cream, which was smooth and a nice contrast to the peach buttermilk cake. The whole plate was the perfect amount of sweet without being overpowering! They were helpful, pleasant and just nice. There was a drink on the menu that had an unusual ingredient, Massenez Roquefort Liqueur, a blue cheese liqueur that sounded questionable. It was amazing, 3 out of 4 at the table loved it and the other liked it but it was a bit unusual for her. The food, while simple, was excellent. They don't have much of a kitchen but the salads, cheese plates, cold soup and the flatbreadwere excellent. Plenty of flavor, fresh ingredients and all had just a small twist that made everything standout. We tried all 3 desserts and all were great. The goat cheese tart with plums was a table favorite. Will we be back, YES. Will we bring friends here, YES. It is definitely one of my 2 favorite restaurants in Cambridge and that is only after 1 meal.
