Great service, awesome staff. They were super busy because it was the weekend of the falmouth road race, but everyone went out of their way to help us. My friend and I couldn't get the bike to fit in our car and Joe and Alyssa spent about a half hour helping us get a bike rack attached to the trunk. Considering how busy they were, they really went above and beyond to help us. The only issue we had was with respect to the rental bike. The bike would not fit in my car (Hyundai sonata) and we could not take the back wheel off because it would have messed up the brakes. If you plan on renting the bike and putting it in your car, plan on either using an SUV or renting a bike rack. read more

Came in to get my wheel fixed after my son T-boned me in the driveway with his bike, breaking some spokes. They took the fact that I was only here for a few days on vacation into account, slipped me into the repair queue on a busy Sunday, and got the bike back to me in four hours. Given that they only had one mechanic on duty (again, a Sunday afternoon), I was very happy with this turnaround. The customer service was great and the price was quite fair for the work. Rental bikes were not great to start with, and needed a lot of work. Person manning the shop was totally disinterested in renting bikes or even communicating. Place to go to rent bikes for the Shining Sea bike path! We came during the middle of the week so we didn't have to fight crowds or deal with parking, whew! You can rent bikes hourly, half day, full day, and even for weeks at a time! We rented our bikes for the afternoon so went with the $17 half day option. I came here a few weeks ago with my family of 6. We rented 4 adult sized hybrid bikes and 2 kid's bikes of different sizes. The rental shop was pretty busy but we were still greeted within a minute of walking in and given a form to fill out. The bikes we were given were in great condition and were very pretty. The price to rent for the day was quite affordable. Despite how many other people were in the store, we were off riding to the beach within 10 minutes. I was visiting family in Falmouth, and couldn't be without a bicycle for too long. I wanted to explore some local single track, and inquired about renting fat bikes. Although they were currently off-site, staff members offered to go retrieve several bikes for us. When we arrived, everyone at the shop was friendly and outgoing. Our bikes were set up quickly, including getting my own pedals installed. They made sure all of our questions were answered, and the bikes were in fantastic working condition. We had a great ride! We actually use the Corner Cycle in their Osterville location. George helped my son in purchasing his bike and & Scott and his crew have been wonderful whenever a repair was needed (usually a flat from riding in the woods and briars). Today we took the bike in after the bike lost in a road incident. Scott stopped what he was doing and took care of some adjustments from things knocked askew in the accident. I rented a road bike here for four days. The bike was great - in top shape - and the staff was very accommodating to make sure I had a great rental experience. I picked up a bike map in the shop and they showed me the best routes around the Cape. This shop is also a 5-minute walk from the Woods Hole ferry shuttle stop - I hopped on a ferry, hopped on the shuttle, and then walked over to Corner Cycle to rent my bike. read more

Had a poor experience with a bike rental last week. We rented 5 bikes, 3 men's style and two women's. The bikes are an 'Electra' model, a ten speed with internal hub gearing system. Two of the men's bikes (Electra model) had the same problem - the pedal would slip, and jerk forward periodically. This was especially true in gears 5 and 6, the most commonly used gears. We struggled along for a while, then brought the bikes back. The store assistants were helpful, and tightened the gearing and adjusted the rear wheel in an attempt to help, but the problem persisted. They kindly offered a replacement bike. Alas, this bike had a worse version of the same problem. Constant slipping of the pedal, as if the chain were slipping off of the cog wheel. While it is theoretically possible to ride a bike this way, for it does move forward, it is a slow and uncomfortable process as your legs are constantly jerking forward. Alas, we gave up and returned the bikes. The store assistants offered to refund us for the malfunctioning bikes. The store manager vetoed, saying we should have phoned them concerning our problem and they would have brought us a replacement bicycle. I pointed out that we did better than call them - we returned the bike to them, and their replacement bicycle was defective! We have rented bicycles on Cape Cod every summer for the past 10 years. We have had a positive experience in every other bike shop we have patronized. Next summer we will find another bike rental place that has better equipment. We suggest you do the same. read more

My family rented bikes at this shop due to it's convenience to the bike path while on vacation in the area. The first rental was great. We had such a nice ride that we decided to ride again a couple days later. On the second ride the tag along my son was riding had some gear issues and he wasn't able to help me pedal. 45 lbs is a lot to drag, but it was fine. On the bright side it was a good workout, though my son was disappointed he didn't get to pedal. Upon returning the bike it seemed reasonable to expect a $17 refund for the tag along that didn't work out. The woman at the rental store was uninterested and almost blamed me for not testing the bike before going out. I then stopped by the store to speak with the manager about a refund. I was surprised they all were completely interested in making good for a defective rental. "We don't so any refunds." No apology. No offer for future rentals. Clearly these guys are just trading on tourists with no repeat customer interests. I would go elsewhere to rent with better service and more reliable bikes. read more

When we returned that afternoon all the way to our hotel in Chatham, we realized our daughter had left her jacket behind in the bike basket. Regarding their bike rental business: In addition to renting bikes for recreational riding, if you are a more serious cyclist (i.e. ride a road bikes 100+ miles/wk and bring your pedals and bike shoes on vacation), then this is a great place to rent [note: I was referred to them by one of the officers of the Cape Cod Cycling Club]. Last year they had a selection of Madone 5.2s that were great. And although they sold these bikes at the end of the season, they had Trek 2.3s this year that were still very good to ride. They are extremely knowledgeable about bikes and even helped on route planning (of 30-50 mi rides) around the Falmouth area. read more

Just a block away from the Shining Sea Bikeway. The staff was great. We parked our bike at Pie in the Sky (where we had stopped for lunch) and the lock didn't open when we came back. Someone from the shop for there within 15 minutes to cut the lock and we were back on our way in no time! Helmet, lock and small storage trunk included free with the rental. Not only was there no attempt to order the part I needed, I was told to take my 35 year old Raleigh to the dump and buy a new bike. No thanks! Employee did not listen to the customer or attempt to help me out. I did not appreciate that attitude. I ended up going to Holiday cycle in the heights, and not only did they offer to order the part if they did not have it, they had that part in stock and appreciated the fact that I was riding an older bike that simply needed a quick fixing up. read more

With a 3 hour turn around time, George properly fitted me on my bike, adjusted my saddle, and even toe clips along with installing new handlebars, stem, gel and tape. Rented cruiser bikes for the week for my family vacation and had them deliver bikes to our vacation house. As a 'roadie' myself I get the typical bike shop attitude so I let it pass. I think it's rude and annoying but I get it. Plus I am sure tourists get frustrating. Especially in peak season I get it. So I paid with a smile. I just got on vacation, right? I paid for the bikes around 10:30AM and didn't receive the bikes until around 6PM. They were short handed. Woman who delivered was super cool and very nice. No big deal and again I get it. Turned out 36 hours later it became clear to us that we weren't really going to use the bikes. So I figured I would give them a shout and see if there was a way to work out a partial refund. I was very polite and explained the situation. I was told 'I didn't plan your vacation'. I didn't appreciate that snark remark. It's my first time ever in Falmouth...give me a break. Anyway, I was told it was in the contract 'no refunds'. I very politely said okay and that I would hang on to the bikes. I check the contract and there's no mention of returns. I would advise they put it on there. Checked the receipt and it's clear as day on there. So I get it completely. They owe me nothing and are in their full right. I understand how business works and I actually admire that they stuck to their policy. But I object to the attitude, the disrespect and the personal insult. The entire conversation was very unpleasant. So. As a shop they are in their right and as a consumer I am in mine. I will never go back, I will advise anyone I know to avoid the store and I advise anyone reading this to do the same. As a practical tip...if you're renting a tow-behind for the kids just know that the bikes have high gearing on the rentals. I am a regular cyclist and found that one or two small gears would have helped in tow. So if you're not a regular rider...and even if you are...go give someone else your money. read more

Corner Cycle is the best bike shop on Cape Cod, maybe all of Massachusetts. It beats anything in Boston. It's not the biggest bike shop, but George Sykes is one of the best bicycle mechanics in the United States. He ought to be, having wrenched for U.S. National Champion Mark McCormack, the first rider to hold U.S. national championships in both road cycling and cyclocross. The shop itself is as much cycling museum as retail shop, and a hub of champion cyclists from Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts. Corner Cycle's racing teams, including the junior team, boasts numerous national champions and riders who have competed in world championships and gone on to professional cycling careers. Its proximity to the Shining Sea Bike Path and bike rentals make it a great place to start your family vacation. Buy some treats for the employees when you visit; they'll be greatful. And expect expert advice and no baloney; they will never steer you wrong. This bike shop has a great vibe, unlike so many bike shops with bad attitudes or bad mechanics. The mechanics here are often serious bike racers, who will take care of your bikes as well as their own. If I could give it six stars I would. read more
