The bikes had enough gears to get you up and down the itty bitty hill on the way to the lighthouse. They also have a back pouch big enough to stow your bag. They include locks and helmets (required in MA for under 16) in the rental price. You could even take the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard if you plan better than we did (bikes need to be returned by 6pm). read more

If you want to ride the trail and need a bike, this is the place! George was incredibly helpful telling us about the path and where to go. Even recommended a place to grab lunch while on the trail. He made it so simple for this girl that is directionally challenged! The shop staff, I believe Matthew was his name, got our bikes ready along with helmets and locks. $27 per bike I thought was reasonable also. And we had the bikes all day if we chose, until shop close time of 6pm the day we rented. I have to say that I was extremely skeptical of this at first but daughter wanted to do this for her birthday. I HIGHLY recommend!! The scenery is beautiful and the path is relatively easy. I went on a Thursday afternoon to rent a bike to ride to woods hole. It's a 4 mile ride each way. Part of it is on a bike path and part on the road. It goes along the water for part of it. They provided me a bike lock and helmet. It was a 7 speed cruiser bike. They had me sign the paper work and issued the bike in less than 10 minutes. You can't leave your car in their lot while on the ride. They will have you park by the trail which is a few blocks away. The reason for a star off is that they have no restroom to use before going on your ride. Plan ahead!!! $27 with tax for a day rental. read more

ABSOLUTE CROOKS I brought my bike in on a family trip for a new tube on my back tire and a general tuneup. bike was in perfect condition aside from the old tire. Upon retrieval, as soon as I started riding the bIke, my chain snapped from a bent gear. They accused me of "hitting something" to which never happened. I brought the bike three blocks from the shop, and there was a catastrophic failure. They then tried to charge me an arm and a leg to repair the bike while never even hinting at offering me a rental so I could at least resume my family trip. read more

Decided on a day trip to Cape Cod and this place was recommended as we wanted to rent bikes and ride the trail. We walked in without a reservation or much knowledge of what we needed to do. Well George immediately greeted us and inquired on what we were looking to do. We explained we wanted to rent bikes for the day and to ride them on the Shining Sea Bikeway. He immediately filled us in on the details including coset of renting bikes for the day. He then gave us very good directions on how to get to the trail and where to head. He also provided recommendations on places to stop and restaurants to try once we got to the village. This was probably some of the best service I've gotten in a long time from any store/shop. Solely based on this, I'd recommend Corner Cycle immediately. The cost to rent bikes was relatively inexpensive (I think $27/bike for the day). While George filled us in on details, another gentleman prepped our bikes and helmets for us. Once we signed off on waivers and everything, we were set free to roam Cape Cod. George answered all my questions and reset my shifting and it worked perfectly. This was the bicycle shop where we rented our tandem bike from. They are very busy with customers, so they really don't have much time for your questions if you are looking for an excuse not to rent a bike or trying to postpone the inevitable, or looking for someone to hold your hand and mollycoddle you. It's : sign the form, pay your money, pick up a bike, choose a lock and good luck to you and your fine rear end if like me, it was the first bike ride you have taken in over 10 years! The path is really close by, so this bike shop is perfectly located. We found that we had forgotten the bicycle lock in our bag, so had to go back the next morning to return it. Amazing diagnosis and repair service. On vacation on the cape, I brought in my bike (which my nephew wrecked) with broken spokes and derailleur. The shop has a repair station in the parking lot so you can watch (behind a barrier) while they diagnose. The mechanic lifted the bike on the repair rack and in about 60 seconds she had the wheel off, loosened the cassette to un-jam the chain, and diagnosed all problems. It turned out that I needed a derailleur hanger, a special part that would not arrive in the few days I had left on the vacation. The mechanic would not take any money because they hadn't fixed anything. But, having dealt with bike shops and worked on bikes myself, this is clearly the best shop I've come across. read more

Extremely competent, professional and personable with a significant amount of experience. My most recent interaction pertains to the gears slipping. Brendan diagnosed the issue, offered a partial solution which got me back on my bike while waiting for the part to come in to complete the repair. To me, the sign of a great technician (other than actually fixing the problems :-) is to not only understand the technology completely, but also be able to explain it simply so I can understand (not always an easy feat). I went in for two issues: my front tire was popped and my rear tire was rubbing against the bike's frame. The repairman fixed the first problem. I (wrongly, it seems) thought the second problem was caused by how I tightened the quick release on the back wheel. So I asked him if he could just quickly tighten the back wheel. He said that that wouldn't do anything and to give him a second. He then came out and tightened / loosened some spokes for about 1 minute. He said that it was just a temporary fix, but it made it run a bit better. He added that I would have to replace the whole wheel soon enough. All good. He seemed helpful. The problem came at checkout when he charged me 20 dollars for truing the back wheel. I first was taken aback and mentioned that the charge seemed expensive for his few seconds repair. He became annoyed. I realized after I left that the real problem wasn't the size of the charge, but that he hadn't told me it was going to come so that I could accept / reject it (I would have rejected it, because he told me I needed a new wheel anyway--lipstick on a pig and such...). It felt like when a fancy restarant asks if you want water and then charges you 5 dollars a bottle. So, stupidly perhaps, I called back to say how the experience left me feeling, and to suggest that they be more up front with their costs in the future. It did not go well. The repairman was very hostile. When I told him I would be writing a review he became angry--repeating that I can't expect work for free. He kept arguing with me, accepting no fault, until, 10 minutes or so later, I just hung up. read more

Corner cycle is very close to the Depot Ave parking lot at the Shining Sea trail which is about 3.5 miles out of Woods Hole. Last summer my tires were running low and they got my tires up to the correct pressure and I was on my way. Great staff and very friendly! They didn't charge me a dime! Courteous staff, reasonable rates, and hassle free rental if you're looking for bikes to use for the stunning Shining Sea Bikeway path along Cape Cod. Rented tandem bikes (2 seated bikes) for 1/2 a day (max 8 hours) for $32, helmets and bike lock included. They let you practice along the car park to get the hang of it and make sure you're comfortable with the height of the seats before your depart. No adjustments can be made after that as the gears are secured tightly. Bike locks are recommended if you plan on doing sight seeing in the little town of Woods Hole or stopping for lunch. No baskets to the bikes, plan on wearing a back pack or cross body bag for comfort. read more

Just bought a bike today from this wonderful bike shop. I had a phone conversation spoke with an employee (Rex) last week about Trek bikes, carbon fiber forks vs all carbon fiber. My criteria was a lightweight bike. Based on my conversation and my promise that I would be in today to check out the bikes, the owner had actually prepared a bike that he thought would fit me. The only adjustment was to raise the handle bars an inch or so. The owner also installed a bell, a water cage and a sideview mirror onto the bike for me. I received courteous and respectful service, no question was left unanswered, the price was right. Very professional and knowledgeable staff and owner (George). I highly recommend them. And, I really like my new Trek S4 that weighs only 22 lbs!! It rides like a Benz vs my 20+ yr old bike which was riding like an old truck. Thank you Corner Cycle. read more

We rented bikes here for the shining sea bike path. The price difference between an hour rental and 1/2 day is only a few dollars so we opted for 1/2 day rentals. They provided us with helmets and locks, though I found it unnecessary to use any of that. We came around noon and they had run out of female bikes so I was reluctantly going to take a bit too large male bike. Fortunately 2 female bikes were just returned and I got a pretty blue bike with a cute basket for my bag! Yay! We did the complete back & forth of the trail (20 miles) in about four hrs. Service was okay seemed like teens at their summer jobs. An odd thing was that one guy told us that the trail would take us 45 min. I'm so happy to have this choice bike shop in Falmouth. Where else can you find a shop where the owner still does tune-ups and is at the store nearly every time you stop in. He's friendly and knowledgeable about just about anything you'd want to know about bicycles. I've taken my bike to cheaper places for a tune-up and definitely paid the price. The turnaround time at Corner Cycle is quick and the price was well worth it. They even cleaned up my bike. I can't comment on the rental bike section, but the retail store has never been anything but good to me. Don't expect to find a wide selection of used or low budget bikes...they only sell used bikes that were originally sold new from the shop...but you will definitely find good quality products and people who know what they're talking about. read more

It took me a while to realize that I have a bike shop that offers what I need, within walking/biking distance of my house. I had always assumed Corner Cycle was more for rentals and road bikes or casual bikes. Then my father went there and got me a mountain biking helmet for my birthday, and he told me I should check the place out. I needed to have the hydraulic disc brakes fixed on my mountain bike, so I brought it in on a Saturday morning. The guys were friendly and helpful, and told me it would be no problem for them to repair. I also brought my 6 year old and his bike, which needed a little work after he crashed it (yes, he had a helmet on). The guy doing the service said he could also put some new grips on the handle bars, and he might be able to get both bikes done that day. They called me before closing to let me know the work was done, and I could pick the bikes up first thing Sunday am. They charged me a very reasonable price for the work, and did a great job on my brakes and fixing my son's bike. I'm so glad that I have a bike shop like this in my town, that handles more than tourists and casual riders. They sell high-end mountain bikes too, and any other gear I would need. The owner was in the shop, and he took a few minutes to give me some tips on my new full-coverage helmet. Local business for the win! read more
