Fair disclosure: We live within walking distance of this park, so our review is probably biased. The place is just plain cool. Large structures with almost any type of climbing, sliding, or running doodad you can think of. The build is solid, and it is incredibly well maintained. The surrounding ball fields are just as nice. Fenced in to keep the local canines from stealing your balls, and ample parking for large events like Rugby or Soccer tournaments. This is also where the town has their annual Fireman's Festival put on by the local fire department. The festival has been struggling the last years but they just recently took the time to revise the company providing the rides, and brought back the Fireworks so it is a ton better (a trend we hope they continue). The only thing lacking is access to public bathrooms. Unless there is an event going on, they are locked. I am sure it's for safety reasons, but it sucks if you have a need to lose some weight pretty quickly.... If you are in from out of town visiting family and have younger kids, this place is definitely worth taking a short jaunt to. If you don't live in or aren't visiting CG, I wouldn't say it's worth a dedicated drive unless you are attending an event.

Nestled in between two local parks, there's amazing entertainment, events (don't miss the wife carry!!) rides and games for your little ones, and delicious food/drink! This year was exactly what I would come to expect from the monona community after the 2020 absence, amazing! The fireworks though, always incredible but this year was bar none! They spare no expense and make it an unforgettable experience and by far the best place to watch fireworks in the southern part of Wisconsin. I was lucky enough to be a vendor for the Art fair for the first time this year, as I've been dreaming of doing so since I was little. Such an amazing experience! The event coordinator was wonderful and very thorough with planning and checking in on all of us vendors to make sure we were ready to go and happy. Thanks Laurie! And thanks to volunteers and everyone who made this year spectacular! Only thing I wish was more abundant was hand washing stations, though I'm sure they're hard to get ahold of nowadays.

They typically run deals on the fireworks (buy $100 of fireworks, get a free fidget spinner) so watch out for those.

My…read morenephews and I used to come here in Spring when everything was still covered in snow, and in winter, the park is popular for cross-country skiing, so I'm quite familiar with it. I've also attended a foraging class here through the Madison Public Library, which was a great experience. The trails are easy to walk, but keep an eye out for black walnuts that ripen and drop onto the ground--you could easily step on one and twist an ankle (as I unfortunately did). Along the way, you might spot squirrels and hear birds singing in the bushes. I even came across some mushrooms, which reminded me of the foraging class. There's a restroom facility and a pond nearby, and in winter, local families love coming here for sledding on hill. I've done it myself--it's a lot of fun, just make sure to protect your back on the way down! Don't say I didn't warn you!

If you have your own skates you can skate for as long as you want. They have 2 rinks, one for regular ice skating and the other for hockey. They have the green assistance rollators, for when you need assistance ice skating, that are useful. The ice was chipped in some areas, but overall good quality. There is a huge hill close by that looks like it can be sledded when there's more snow.

I learned that the business started out as a garage sale, and some of the rooms do seem rummage sale/flea market-esque. We'd actually driven by once before but they were closed then. There was a fair amount of fireworks for sale, but what stands out when you arrive is the metal lawn art and concrete statuary. I had a fun time walking through looking at all of it (with some yard birds accompanying me), although some of it did seem fairly old. Mr. R found some cheap records inside and it was a good place to get out and stretch our legs.
