    Mid Hike Lounging

This was a GREAT hike on our way to Yosemite. It's about a 6 mile hike, not that steap but there's still quite a grade to go up. We brought our foldable lounge chairs and some snacks to relax half way, but the end in order to get to the falls you literally gotta climb so that was the biggest challenge. It was worth it though! Once you're there you just don't want to leave at all. Once again, highly recommended! You could pretty much take photos for days!

Cute hike- water is super cold. Pretty steep though, would be concerned about taking little ones. So many beautiful waterfalls along this trail. People even left walking sticks at the beginning of the hike. Also saw wild berries growing by the stream. Lots of photo ops.

Home away from home is how I would describe this place you can hike for quite some time also no restrooms here bring good hiking boots if you want to hike down to the falls is pretty steep somewhat strenuous you have to stop several times for a break on the way back up but be safe and it's absolutely amazing

During the summer, Los Baños can get pretty hot and boring very easily so my parents and I wanted to go somewhere where we could enjoy the sun and soak in mother nature while not burning in 100°F + weather. I found this place on Yelp as the closest hiking/ sightseeing destination with waterfall sightings! And the plus was that we didn't have to drive too far to visit. This location was only a 45 minute drive from Los Baños and the scenic route we saw was lovely. Rolling down the windows filled the car with fresh mountain air. Parking is limited (depending what time of the day you go) but there's always parking on the side of the highway. Just make sure you don't drive too far off the edge. Be sure to wear comfortable and proper clothing/ gear when making your way through the hike. It can get pretty gnarly. Some folx even bring swimming gear because apparently there is a swimming hole you can find. Just be careful and take extra precaution. Overall, My family and I enjoyed visiting these falls and will definitely journey through the trail in the near future.

If you're looking to commune with nature without the crowds of Yosemite and without having to hike more than a mile, then Corlieu Falls is a must see in the Oakhurst/Yosemite South Gate area. The trailhead/parking lot is on Highway 41, about 4 miles north of Oakhurst and 7 miles south of Yosemite National Park's South Gate. The hike is short, about half a mile to the viewing platform. However, the trail is quite steep. It has mostly short and steep switchbacks all the way down from the trailhead. It's also not well marked, with the exception of the signs "Lewis Creek" at the trailhead and the first fork. At the first fork, head to the trail on your right, and when you get to a clearing, keep on going to your right. When you see a big oval boulder, take the trail on your right. It'll be short and steep switchbacks until you get to the viewing platform! There was no one else on the trail but us, so we had the pleasure of listening and viewing the waterfall by ourselves. This 80 foot waterfall cascades over large boulders in a narrow canyon. So beautiful! Yes, it's nowhere as big as Yosemite Falls, but you don't have the crowds of Yosemite. Eat your snack or lunch there on your way to Yosemite! We were warned by hikers coming back from their hikes about bugs, but we didn't encounter too many, probably because it was warmer (80+) by the time we got to the falls. Just put on some bug spray and you should be okay. Enjoy!

This is the middle part of the falls. Watch out for a huge bush of poison oak to the left of the falls

Ask the Community - Corlieu Falls

Does anyone have the exact coordinates for the location or is the yelp location accurate?

It's pretty accurate. If you look at it on satellite view in maps, you'll see the parking area. To reach Corlieu Falls tho take the trail perpendicular to the road without the sign. The sign leads you to red rock falls

    Is this trail dog friendly?

Yes it is! We saw a little dachshund with his owners yesterday

You don't have to navigate traffic, you're driven by and given ample time off this small bus to see everything and take tons of photos, lunch and a fantastic history lesson. $220.00 per person. Pick up 7:05 am and dropped back off at 5:00 pm. Lunch is quite good. Sandwiches from Deli Delicious in Oakhurst. Lunch is taken in the middle of the park where you can sit and enjoy it, use the facilities, grab a Starbucks if needed and take a short walk over to one of the waterfalls. You're picked back up after an hour and 1/2 and this wonderful tour continues. You see loads of wildlife, more amazing waterfalls and this famous sites you've seen all over the place in pictures, movies, paintings, etc and if your lucky, so rock climbers on 1/2 Dome or El Capitan. Incredible scenery and so much to learn about this incredible place, the indigenous peoples and tribes that lived here and the incredible amount of history all in one day. Do yourself a favor and take the tour. Hopefully you'll get Grant. He's fun, is an excellent driver, has lots of bottled water and snacks, really takes care of his fares, knows an enormous amount of info from here and makes the tour really fun. There's so much to see and if you don't know where you're going, you can really get turned around and hung up in traffic.

SERVICE: Our guide, Jarret from Discover Yosemite was passionate, friendly, and knowledgeable about every nook and cranny. ORGANIZED AND INFORMATIVE: The tour was well organized and visually appealing even though several of the passes were closed. TIP: silence your phones and texts, Ready your camera. 360' visuals require your attention. ( You will thank us later.) IS IT STRENUOUS? It can be, depending on your health. In my case, I've been dealing with some medical issues but Jarret made sure to identify places where I could sit out the more physically demanding walks and hikes while taking in incredible views from comfortable benches carved from hundreds of year old logs. Jarret found unique ways to cater to all levels of interest and physical ability. NOTE: if two of the roads were open, you would expect significant walking on flat and uneven surfaces. This is a special way to fully engage and immerse in nature. THE FOOD: The sandwich provided in the included picnic lunch did not meet the standards of the your. Ample snacks and bottled beverages and water were available throughout the adventure. TIP:PACK SOME PROVISIONS OR EAT A HEARTY BREAKFAST. SHOPPING: Several stops to do tourist shopping ( We found some luscious sweets and surprised Jarrett with hand dipped chocolate- He seemed to appreciate it,) ADVICE; leave young children in the care of others so you can focus on the serenity of the environment and take in the majesty of 150-3,000 year old trees and million year landscapes. This is an activity for serious nature lovers. PLEASE REMEMBER TO TIP GENEROUSLY.

The weather was unpredictable the day of our tour so I felt more comfortable going in with a guide that could drive in snowy conditions. Laura was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and catered the tour around what we wanted which was sightseeing but also lots of snow play for our 6 year old. She engaged with our son many times during the car ride to keep him interested in the tour. She also offered to take pictures of us. She was very comfortable driving the van and we didn't feel unsafe at anytime. We got to see more than we thought we would see. She made stops along the way when we needed bathroom breaks. Lunch was good - sandwich, cookie, chips, and water. We were missing 1 sandwich. I would check at pick up to ensure all lunches are there. We would use this company again. I am still mourning the loss of my parents from the pandemic. Seeing the sites and beauty of Yosemite had me in tears. Our tour guide, Daniel, was so informative and most of all - inspiring. He captivated me with his Yosemite stories and his war stories. My two kids received a year's worth of history education in the span of less than a day. Daniel gave me and my family new wonderful memories in this new chapter of our lives. Most especially, I seriously respect the owner. My son left his iphone in the tour van and I completely flipped out. The owner luckily was able to arrange a driver to drive from Yosemite to our hotel in Fresno to return the phone to us to save our vacation. As a business owner myself, I don't know if I would have done the same. This act of kindness speaks volumes about the business and how dedicated the owner is at giving visitors truly memorable experiences. We will be back!

I started at the trailhead near Corlieu Falls, went north towards Red Rock Falls. It was a beautiful hike with some varied terrain going slightly uphill for parts of it. The fall foliage was beautiful, and it was nice to hear the running water all along the way. There is occasional highway noise since this runs parallel to the main road, but I didn't mind it. Went at 730a and didn't see another person for about two hours. Red Rock Falls was peaceful and beautiful. I crossed the stream a bit clumsily and ended up with wet feet, but it was worth it for the photos. I made my way back. Corlieu Falls had a good amount of debris around it, including part of a bridge. Round trip was less than 4 miles, and I got back in time for brunch.

Unfortunately, we had two small kids with us in tow so we didn't make it too far on the trail but I hear there are some nice waterfalls as a visual treat if you finish the trail. The trail itself had some slopes and elevations but nothing too crazy. There isn't a lot of parking available in the designated lot - we were lucky to grab a spot as someone was leaving right when we pulled up, otherwise I don't know where one would park to easily get to the trail head.
